Tried not to overwork this one. There are rough edges, but submerged in indie rock lofiness.
This song is not about anyone I actually know, it's about a remorseless being with no heart. Fiction. The big change here, for me, is the rhymes are farther apart. Whoa! I usually put a rhyme about half as close as this song, so that was my personal challenge.
Couple of guitar tracks, uke bass, B-part vocals through a "Copperphone" lo-fi mic. I usually record guitar amps with a mic. The tremolo guitar part was recorded through an amp simulator then through Scuffham S-Works plugin to get the final sound. Squealing feedback was through a 4-watt Vox AC4, which lets you get crazy sounds at reasonable volume.
Your dark mirror gives nothing back
seek the shapes in that dark shine
silhouettes soft and dim
what I see is only mine
your dark mirror quiet, still
nothing breaks your sweet repose
ask you questions, waiting still
still waiting for the echoes
there's no difference
together or apart
no light no sound no gravity
escapes your black hole heart
your dark mirror silent pool
isolation holds your freedom
your shining surface, inky sea
your chosen exile sweetened
Do you miss me?
