collaboration in progress. Dave and Elise Mann had their car window smashed while Dave was playing a gig. My first thought was, "um, don't they have car seats? don't thieves know that parents are broke and tired? All there is to steal is stale crackers and what's left of their youth" or something. Eric thought the song was in that quote, and so we wrote it.
Parenting, oh Parenting
it's chaos and it's real
it's not for everyone, it's exhausting
how does it keep it's appeal?
look at my car, the seats are trashed,
i gotta preach the truth
there ain't nothing left here to steal
but stale crackers and what's left of my youth
my hair is gray, my teeth are worn
from grinding them with worry
i swear to y'all, i can't recall
when my eyesight got so blurry
i would like to make passes
at designer glasses, but the discount ones suit my spending
and what is a vacation anyway when responsibilities are never ending
what do I have now?
just some wrinkles and a scowl
when a shower is a luxury
just like a cup of coffee
I never get to drink it hot
but look at all the love I've got
