Meow amrew mew mieh. Aow.
[A small, dark forest surrounded with high embankments. Love it.]
Mantra : Keyboard (Tubular bells, didgeridoo, darkatmopad)
Caterwauler : Keyboard, violining guitar
Great range on moods in this. Really beautiful guitar textures in the middle, with Mantra providing a possibly sarcastic commentary at 1:35.
I like the dissonance of the chords about :30 seconds in. Very spacious, and restrictive at the same time. Uncomfortable. There are almost dark-voicy things going on in the background a little later; and then the rhythmic bells, subtle and not-so-subtle coming in and out. The environment this puts me in is very dark; a familiar and rich place for me!
I love the places Mantra takes you to! This does feel smaller and constricted, with the noise drone pressing in on the sides and the lowring bass. And then the bells ... what's coming, or going by? What's in the underbrush making that subtle itchy sound?
Way to play that didgeridoo Mantra! Such an interesting sound, very vocal, like Tibetan throat singing. Violining guitar! That's something I've seen Sigur Ros do, but never experimented with, probably a lot of fun, especially with effects. Seemed like the light started to shine into the forest at the end. Great track!
The violining guitar is such an interesting idea and sound. Well, it *is* a stringed instrument and sort of shaped like a violin. I like how you're so creative with instrument choices and implementation. J'aime l'avant-garde. 😀
Love how it sustains, and then drops off for like, a seemingly long time, really builds the suspense... those bells and the high-pitched pad sound like there's a ghost just around the corner on a cobblestone street in the fog.
It sounds like a horror is hiding in this deep dark forest. It doesn't sound anything like the adorable critter in a well light green woods we see in this picture! Mantra seems quite capable in this song, I am sure Mojo is happy that you found someone so musically talented.
Meeeooorrroooowwww!!!!!!! (Eerily reminiscent of the old Dark Shadows music. Dramatic and spooky!)
One thing I found really cool here is that the song opens with a rhythmic keyboard line, sort of like paradiddles. Once that went away, I found myself carrying that rhythm forward in my mind, tapping my toe and anticipating its return. Ah...there it is. The whole thing is lush and pleasantly suspenseful, somehow tense and relaxing
Ah well, the last track was a kid's TV show theme compared to this... *shudder*
no Meow? No Mew? I bet your too busy catching mice... trying to hide in the dark.. but feline eyes see them... mmmm.. tasty... curl together like ball mantra.. and wait... waaaiiit.. and POUNCE
this connects me with my inner cat
I used to live in the somewhat boondocks of Pennsylvania (one of the most unique states) and, well, being the freak that I am, I would run as fast as I could through the forest at midnight or early morning hours (1am) which was a bit dangerous because you couldn't see much and of course the wild animals that hunted at those hours. It was the most intense feeling ever. A natural drug. Your music is the soundtrack to that experience.
i like the mysterious sounds...dark, gloomy ... i love this atmosphere that you created.
Wow. This is lovely and dense - and yes as @misterd said: mysterious. I love this. And I am so happy to hear Catcore this year. I know Mantra is a reluctant musician, but I am glad that he & his human (@caterwauler) are making music. @mojo would be happy to know that you are making music together.
See You In The Shadows…
Interesting sounds . Evocative and mysterious ! Feels like a soundtrack for a short film -a mystery / horror perhaps .Well done !
