All the Right Reasons

Liner Notes:

After the emotional turmoil of "All the Wrong Reasons" I needed a break from lyrics. Pulled out an old jazz chord progression, and just couldn't find the right scale to noodle around on top of it. Went to bed a little frustrated, and woke up with a pretty complete idea in my head.

Sleepwriting. I love it.

(Yeah, couple buzzed or just plain wrong notes. I'm not a guitar player, I'm a lyricist.)

Lyrics:

Ooh

Uuuuu..sultry and smooth. Nice sound. The vocals are a good touch. I could hear a little percussion in my own head. smile This just makes me feel all warm & fuzzy. Excellent song.

Nice vibe you've got going here. Wouldn't have noticed you're 'not a guitar player' without you saying so. tongue

Nice and beautiful and slow and pleasing as it washes up over you. This IS all the right reasons.

Pretty guitar. Wish I could play like that (but not so much that I'll actually practice, lol)

The "ooo-ing" in the background is the best part. Sounds perfect.

Bruce, I agree completely on the brushes. This is my year not to overproduce and record every demo, so I'm starting by leaving one detail out of each song. Who knows; maybe I'll make it a parlour game: "What's missing from *this* song?"

The atmosphere of the song is great. Wow... I'm impressed. And I like your lyrics! wink At least they match the song perfectly.

Waah! I loved this from the first phrase. I do hear the sonic space for a bit of percussion -- perhaps brushes?

Actually this is the sort of tune I prefer -- the Miles approach, lyrical instead of a blizzard of notes. In my own work I very seldom play a 'show off' run. There are jazz guitar teachers who push it as 'the' way to play. Once you've heard a phrase that goes 'blugablegabeebadeedleblugableep', you've pretty much heard them all.

Relaxing. Kind of melancholy. I like it.

You pull of a very believable lounge act. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Sierra-Tahoe. The 7:30 show is different from the 9. Don't forget to tip your waitress.
