I've Been Through Changes

Liner Notes:

Finished this about 12:45am this morning. Simple song, just done in one take, recorded live. I'm happy with the results.

Lyrics:

I've been through changes
Grown from a child into a man
But I want you to know
I still love you all the same
And even though I'm not the same as I was before
I'd like this my home again once more

I've been through changes
I've been away for a long, long time
I'm sorry I did what I did
But I felt I had no other choice
They say time is the greatest healer
So let's put it to the test
'cause I'm here to stay

I've been through changes
I've been close to the edge
I've dug my own grave
But I got out of it again
And this is my promise to you
That I'll forever be your friend
Until the end

Love the melody, and the direct and effective lyric. Great performance, too, if a touch heavy on the reverb. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

    Simple and heart-wrenching. Love it.

I kinda liked the reverb. There was a lot of it, but it had that echoey, sleep-deprived sound. Gotta love the one take! Gorgeous guitar too.

My first hesitation was to say 'too much reverb'-- but it actually kind of works. Maybe just a little less? But a great song, great lyrics... very emotional/true.

Normally I would be against that much reverb on vocals but you pull it off brilliantly. it really adds to the atmosphere. Brilliant!!

Nice use of reverb...sets the mood...

"I still love you all the same
And even though I'm not the same as I was before"...all too true...all too often...

I agree with O. Clamp down there: this sounds like a cold, late night. Kinda a bittersweet vibe.

The sparse arrangement with the immense reverb works so well. So beautiful.

This is really beautiful. I wish I could recordings like that in one take! big_smile

But really, the guitar work, and the melody are just... haunting. Very soothing song. I love it.

great debut! love the guitar bridge in the middle, just the thing I need to hear to get me going this morning.

Perhaps I'm influenced by your note, but this is just dripping with a great after-midnight vibe. It's got just the right amount of quiet desperation, and your playing is lovely. Excellent start, my friend!

So pretty. Really intense, almost heartbreaking in a way. The reverb makes it sound like you're in a huge hall or chapel.

You're starting out strong. Looking forward to hearing more!

Love the verb on the guitar, maybe a leeeetle to much on the vox? Great track though. Nice work! Great guitar playing btw.

Oh I like it very muchly smile sweet and sorrow.
I can hear this as a duet with somebody like Scarlett Johansson for some reason!

Great start Louis (what happened to Dom?) I think I'd echo (ha, the irony) Oddbod on the reverb, but voice and guitar both sounding great.
  • nightengale 1 week ago

  •  oddbod 1 week ago
