I think this song is the result of too much time spent in the orchestra pit of the musical 'Bye Bye Birdie'. Even though the musical doesn't quite have songs like this, the 60's vibe 'Rhythm Changes' and talk about love really sunk in. I'm not really too happy with some of the vocals/lyrics on this so they will probably be redone when I have more time.
Sunshine, I don't feel you anymore
I don't, but I don't want to feel warm
Your eyes, they might be glistening but to me
all I see, is everywhere they're not looking
I just want you to be happy
but you always leave me asking
"what do they know about love?"
When your drink was too hot you added ice to make it colder
but the water made it weaker and you were only getting older
so now when you drink you burn your lips and I feel the scars sometimes
and when I think I make them better I am only squeezing limes
and if your tongue wasn't so curious maybe they wouldn't keep
coming back but they do and I don't want them around
without a sound I try to let you know that I don't like those boys
and if you didn't like them either we'd say "what do they know about love?"
