acoustic week1 weather harmonica storms

Liner Notes:

The website Politico recently listed New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's top 10 quotes, and my favorite was when he told beachgoers waiting out a hurricane to "Get the hell off the beach - you've worked on your tans enough."
Another line of the song came from our own governor at the time, Jeb Bush, who once told Floridians that most hurricane accidents happen because of "abject stupidity."

Lyrics:

Get the hell off the beach
I’m telling you – get the hell off the beach
Listen to the weatherman
Get your ass out of the sand
Get the hell off the beach

Get the hell off the beach
I’m telling you – get the hell off the beach
Ocean’s getting rough
You’ve worked on your tan enough
Get the hell off the beach

Get the hell off the beach
I’m warning you – get the hell off the beach
It’s pure abject stupidity
When the storm is brewing out at sea
Get the hell off the beach

Get the hell off the beach
I’m warning you – get the hell off the beach
Listen up, surfer dude
Weather’s in a nasty mood
Get the hell off the beach
Better get the hell off the beach
One last time – get the hell off the beach

The only thing missing was aggravated facepalm percussion. smile

Your humor and your just spirit shines through here pure and simple. The harmonica is awesome. This is a great way of turning abject stupidity of politicians around into something positive--perhaps like making a remedy from some of the poison big_smile

This is a fun one... that's a favorite quote of mine as well and I like how you part out the message over the course of the song. 'pure abject stupidity' is a good line. I'd like to hear this with an increase in tempo and some muting. Even if it wasn't the context of the original quote, I think a sense of urgency would work well.

I could totally stand on the shore around these parts and sing this to the tourists that routinely get swept off of their feet while watching storms. Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes folk just need a wake-up call. Great harmonica!! Nice beat to it too - fun offering. Sure hope the beach cleared smile

Nice track, Chip! I could see this as being a fun song to jam on and just hang out playing this track. The harmonica work is killer.

Heh - Fun song, love the harmonica. And I think it may have inspired a song idea for me... One that I think I will make offer as a skirmish tonight, so I can't tell you now...

Harmonica is great. I'm going to the beach tomorrow, so this one I had to check out when I saw the title.

I saw the title on this and knew I had to check it out. And I'm glad I did!

I love the groove and the harmonica. The funny thing is that I picture someone standing on the beach singing this as the wind starts picking up, pushing him around. (Or maybe that's just my weirdness. smile )

    Great track!

Well, if anyone knows about abject stupidity, it's gotta be Jeb Bush.
The harmonica really makes the song. Great guitar work! Nice riff!

I gotta say, that is good advice. They didn't send out those warnings for fun. - Great harmonica and fun guitar.

Very cool Chip! I love the harmonica and this would be a great sing-along song here in Oz, though we might tailor it to fisherman who insist on trying to get swept off rocks too. Nice work my friend! smile

Hah! Some good laughs brewing from this song over here! I love every bit of the song, and though it's not my typical style, I'll always have a soft spot for songs pointing out others' stupidity.

    Great song, great job!

Mouth organ! Yeah! My daily Bob Dylan sound fix! This is classic old-school FAWM and I can sometimes find myself missing it in the increasing atmosphere of (admittedly, really good and cool) electronica moving in. Great job!
