Liner Notes:

First song of 2012!

This song is kind of a combination of things, but mostly its inspired by an article on neurology and search filtering I was reading.

Basically, studies have shown that when a person believes a news source has provided them with correct information, they fall into whats known as a "trust trap". Basically they're likely to believe whatever that source says in the future even if it is false.

When you combine that with new search algorithms, you fall into a deeper version of the trust trap because the search algorithms base what they show you on your previous activity. Therefore they only show you similar things and it gets harder to find alternative points of view...

Or something like that. tongue

Lyrics:

digital oceans
neurons pulsating
data is flowing
identity is fading

absorbing it all
cost us our soul
when humanity
gave machines control

I recall the trust trap issue being presented on local public radio. Definite Tron/Daft Punk vibe to it. I like how it opens up multiple times, but never feels closed in-between.

Blade Runner and Vangelis vibes all over! And the Tron soundtrack by Daft Punk! The best sort of vibes. I don't know how much I need to say about this, I am just really digging it. Vocoder, nice. I'd like to hear about the gear you used to record this - soft synths or real ones? What's your DAW? Simple lyric that also suits the Daft Punk vibe. Interesting discussion in the liner notes there about this 'trust trap' - I suppose that's why people stick to their own political persuasion for life regardless of how ignorant it is (and I say that for people on both the left and right - it seems many people just plain aren't rational regardless of what side they fall on).

Great lilting, catchy melody. Love the filtered percussion that comes in at about 45 seconds in. Very nice build to this, All the elements in their right place, nicely balanced.

Always great to see more electronic artists on FAWM! I'll be watching you...

Very relaxing groove you have built. Nice subtle, minimal changes throughout...just enough to hold the interest of the listener. To my ears, the vocoder mix needs to be a bit heavier on the carrier rather than the modulator and I agree with Robyn that I would have liked to have heard them sooner. That being said, this is a very enjoyable track. Kudos!

very smooth sounding track! I really like the pulsing lead that you used throughout the song, and I think it really helped keep the "moving" pace. I do think the vocals were a bit too soft though.

besides that, great work dude! big_smile

This had me hooked right from the beginning. I love where that drumbeat comes in. The robotic vocals are pretty awesome too, though I might have brought them in a little earlier. Fascinating, haunting, and really well-done.

I like this one. It's rich, subdued, and combined with the sparse lyrics it creates this dense track that actually SAYS something. Well done.
