Liner Notes:

My first FAWM song of the season.

Lyrics:

The man behind the curtain
Knows everything
He takes a questions here and there
Then nothing
The price of news is awful
A disturber of the peace

But you want to know the answer
More than anything

And the answer holds you captive
From everything
From the family you follow
To the company you keep
The price of news is awful
A disturber of the peace

But you want to know the answer
More than anything

Just found this by searching the Colorado Check In thread. Very well done on the doubled vox and guitars.

Wow. Glad I caught this on the jukebox. Fantastic instrumentation and arrangement on this. Great folky / country sound. Your vocals are great. The repeating lines of 'The price of news is awful / A disturber of the peace' really stood out to me. Nice work, man.

caught this on the jukebox. Has a great starting sound and vibes and maintains it all the way through. Good playing and singing -- and fine lyrics, too. Very fine first FAWM tune!

The doubled vocals are sweet, and the guitar parts are just...wow.
I'm impressed with the clarity and beauty of this piece. It's well written, well performed and well recorded.
My hat is off to you!

Love the sound, it's a pretty tune. Interesting to hear the source of this song, I almost think it would be stronger knowing nothing about where it came from -- this is a good song regardless.

Just heard this on the podcast, and thought I'd stop by to let you know how much I enjoyed it. Which was a lot.

    Very cool song.

Love the music box like layers on the guitar. Great song.

Those beautiful chiming guitars drew me in from note one. There seems to be some almost contrapuntal action going on between the various guitar parts, which really grabs me; it's got a wonderful folky feeling to it. The lyrics are fantastic -- enough solid detail to give us a picture in our minds and give us something to hold onto, but enough ambiguity to allow ourselves to put ourselves right in the middle of the action to whatever it is we've gone through (or are going through).

    Brilliant piece.

great sound - really like the mix - hugs the vocal nicely - soft undercurrent with pretty spikey guitar - dreamlike

Such a beautiful song... melancholy, but hopeful as well...

Really beautiful harmonies - on both the guitars and the vocals. Great sound to this track as well. Really good stuff!

So simple and yet it's got power backing it. Love the guitar and harmonies.

I love the lyric, such an original idea! Awesome guitar!
  •  philnorman 3 months ago
The layers of finger picking give this a gentle drive and push that really suits the lyric and melody -- a hopeful expectancy, an optimistic repetition.

Wow! The guitarplaying and the harmonies, I love it.
    Good luck the coming month..

Very nice, reminds me of teenage fanclub. I like how you started it, making me think it was going to be substandard then going into some sweet guitars and beautiful harmonies.
