Liner Notes:

It's been February for 23 hours here in Australia, and though I've been asleep for most of that time here's what we've come up with.

Jen on backing vocals.

Lyrics:

It seems like we're drifitng, maybe this is not meant to be
Inevitable still means we'll be there eventually
You invite me 'round, but then you won't open the door
Like you're trying to say you love me, but you don't want to love me no more

You tell me that you love me but you don't want to love me no more
You say that you love me but you don't want to love me no more
You tell me that you love me but you don't want to love me no more
You say that you love me but you don't want to love me no more

I can see how people maybe sometimes need a little space
But lately I just can't get you out of your hiding place
I feel my heart shatter into pieces right at the core
When you're trying to say you love me but you don't want to love me no more.

You tell me that you love me but you don't want to love me no more
You say that you love me but you don't want to love me no more
You tell me that you love me but you don't want to love me no more
You say that you love me but you don't want to love me no more

I really like this track quite a lot. I really mostly like the honest heartfelt feeling the vocals convey.

Still I must give a lot of credit to the layers of sounds you have working their way throughout. Well done.

The parts to this song fit SO well together. The high elec piano - bell sounding part stands out so well against the sadness of the song. *Really* enjoyed this song! smile

Very nice soundscape with the way the bass sits together with everything else you've chosen. The many repeated lines work great that way, too.

Lovely song, and that deep bass gives it some oomph.

Great work. smile Really like the repeating lines in the chorus. Lovely harmonies, and tremendous musicianship all round.

    Shades of Peter Frampton.....! smile
Excellent job on the vocal arrangement. It can be hard to pull off harmony without it sounding over the top, but you've managed it here. Great song.

I love this. Immensely. I think I'm going to listen to it again, it's just that wonderful.

Ooh, I love the way you build up the groove of the song with the synths and the bass, I was bopping my head by 20 seconds in. I could imagine with this some electronic drums - I'm drumming on my desk, in fact. Nice little slidey solo there. The guitars and synths all fit so well together, and that's not a bad voice you've got there. Downloading this! I almost want to remix this - I could imagine it as a really heavy dance song of the current trend, but I'm not sure that I want to ruin it in that way. The chorus suits that. But I definitely really really like this one. smile

VERY nice work. You get the most out of your instruments, and love the delivery as well.

i love heavy stuff with clearly audible acoustic guitar.
Great sense of tension in this song, with all the syncopated stuff, it's very together. Well done.

This is cool. I like the way that the chorus line is also the last line of the verse. Sad and sweet throughout. Great work!

"You tell me that you love me but you don't want to love me no more" = genius line in its simplicity. This is a strong original piece on a classic concept.
  •  caseewilson 3 months ago
oooh pretty! This is love, crystal clear and really well composed...
  •  timfatchen 3 months ago
Mmm that smooooth intro. What can I say? Professional grippign, paced just right, sufficiently desolate without dreariness...I'll just listen hmm? Before I get RSI??

Pardon my ignorance, but what is this high pitched instrument called? It's on some of my favorite Eels songs. But apart from that lovely sound, your song also has other qualities, e.g., the chorus is veeery catchy. Sad, but sweet smile
  •  mattpierce 3 months ago
    Sweet! Nicely done!

I really can't put my finger on why I like this so much, but I do. The xylophone-esque synth (I guess? What is it?) just on the surface is perfect. A beautiful performance, love the backing vocals on the chorus. All-round brilliance smile
