(Don't Stop) Keep On Doing What You're Doing

pop jazz acoustic folk whistling-solo

Liner Notes:

last year i kicked off with a old style jazzy instrumental, so i thought i'd do something similar only add some singing.
the lyrics just flowed out of me with this one (a rarity indeed!)
they're hardly deep, and a bit obvious, but they kind of work with the frivolity of the tune.

Lyrics:

Don't stop - you know it feels so nice
Don't stop - I don't have to tell you twice
Don't stop - don't listen to advice
Just keep on doing what your doing

Don't stop - if you would be so kind
Don't stop - if you can spare the time
Don't stop - as long as you don't mind
Just keep on doing what your doing

Why bother changing
To something new
When you already
Know just what to do

Don't stop - you've really got the knack
Don't stop - you're an insomniac
Don't stop - you never hit the sack
You keep on doing what your doing

Sometimes a change is
Good as a rest
But I don't want to
Put that to the test

Don't stop - you know it feels so good
Don't stop - I think thats understood
Don't stop - I don't think that you should
So keep on doing what your doing

  •  Matt Westcott 1 month ago
Just like The Wobble Hypothesis before it, this put an instant ear-to-ear grin on my face the moment I hit play. And "don't listen to advice" is a lovely bit of self-contradiction.
  •  Debs 1 month ago
HOLY CRAP. This is phenomenal. That...guitar solo...I just can't put into words. This song is perfect in every way.

whistle solo + bass solo + guitar solo = the best section of a song I have heard yet!
You are one of the more talented musicians, judging by this song.
the vocal line isnt my favorite, but that solo section was super rad!!!
  •  Timothy Chen Allen 1 month ago
Damnnnn! That is so pretty and smooth. Professionally done.
  • Roger, Roll 1 month ago
The thing I love about jazz tunes is that the lyrics don't have to be that great at all. Sometimes I listen back on some of the jazz standards and cringe at the lyrics, but they're still great because the lyrics aren't the point.

Great performance, here. Cliche, but that's the point. Love it.

Lovely stuff, Djangobod. I like how the metaphor blurs music and sex together. Reminds me of the time I dated that bassoon.

Nice bass solo; was that synthed or do you actually have an acoustibass that sounds that good? Which of your eleventy-leven guitars did you use for the solo?
