Immer mehr

Liner Notes:

This is a song of encouragement, for when the heart is faint, hope has fallen asleep and winter drags on all too long.

A big THANK YOU to my wonderful bandmate, Duke Meyer, whom I have just managed to talk into FAWMing (http://fawm.org/fawmers/dukemeyer/) and who took most of this afternoon to be my recording tutor, because I was getting fed up with my extremely limited technical abilities... wink

In German, by the way, "immer mehr" has a double meaning: "more and more", as well as "always more than...".

Lyrics:

Leben

Immer mehr Sand im Getriebe.
Immer mehr Unsinn im Sinn.
Immer mehr Mut aus verwandelter Wut,
und dann immer ein neuer Beginn.

Immer mehr wagen als fürchten.
Immer mehr sein, was wir sind.
Immer mehr schreien, die Freiheit befreien,
die Flügel entfalten im Wind.

Immer mehr
immer mehr
immer mehr
Leben

********************************

Always more getting up than falling down.
Always more walking than standing.
Aways more loving than adjourning love
just because we can't see the way yet.

Going more and more under the skin,
Doing more, hand in hand.
Carrying the heart on the tongue, more and more,
recognising each other, face to face.

More and more
more and more
more and more
life.

More and more sand in the clockwork.
More and more mischief on the mind.
More and more courage out of transformed anger,
and then always a new beginning.

More and more daring than fearing.
More and more being what we are.
More and more yelling, liberating freedom,
unfolding the wings in the wind.

More and more
more and more
more and more
life.

Great groove & really cool voice! It doesn't even bother me that I can understand what you're singing because it's such a neat sound (thanks for the translation though!!).

I have to say, hearing the German you are singing and reading along in English is always fascinating! The words always take me some place else entirely not like the English or the German! I like the layering of the Bass on this song, too.

Great work, I look forward to more, now that I am recovering from being ill...

Wieder mal ein ziemlich augefuchster melodischer Aufbau.

    "Immer mehr wagen als fürchten.
Immer mehr sein, was wir sind."

    sind meine Lieblingszeilen.

I love the saying "Immer mehr Sand im Getriebe," the translation works well too but I assume this is a German expression - I think I'll start using that!

The guitar fits these lyrics very well, the deliberate plodding along more and more... well done!

very nice groove - your music has such flowing movement in it, I find it compelling even if I don't understand every German word. Like the lyrics in both languages!

I really like the chorus here and now I have learned a few new German words.

Wow, your voice is so powerful on the chorus in this! I mean, you're normally quite a striking singer, but something about this track really makes that power stand out!

Funky little tune, and yeah superb inspiring lyrics. Great work.
Oh move and heaven and earth (as they say here) to make it to the London FOP! Would love to see you again smile

I love songs in German. There aren't enough. I really like the repetition of chorus to reinforce the verses.

Life-affirming! I'm just sitting down to write tonight and this has really lifted me up. I shall entfalten my Flügel too and write something lifty... [Edit: Here it is http://fawm.org/songs/1292/]

I like the bass nestling in the back there keeping it bouncing along.
