I played a couple this week at an artist showcase here in Atlanta. It went over well despite my not having them β€œin the bag yet”. Have you played out some of yours? Links?

    Here’s mine if you’re interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjSVdC...

Ps they were both skirmishes so ya you can count me in this weekend πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

  • @resonut123 Feb 21

I will play one of my new ones at a Songwriter Showcase on March 24th along with another FAWM tune I wrote last year. Looking forward to it.

  • @resonut123 Feb 21

@keithcuts, nice finger-picking and nice performance.
    Is that a Fluke Uke?

  • @keithcuts Feb 21

Ah yes it is! I have it tuned dgbe though rather than the factory gcea fwiw

  • @resonut123 Feb 21

@keithcuts, I have a RipTide tenor Uke that I like and used in previous FAWMs but alas it did not make an appearance this year.

  • @keithcuts Feb 21

this one is not over yet @resonut123 !

  • @resonut123 Feb 21

    @keithcuts, True.

  • @aprilm  Feb 21

Thinking of doing an open mic or two this coming weekend. If I do, a 2018 FAWM song or two will be featured, for sure

  • @rustyp  Feb 21

I will be performing a couple of songs this weekend, and they will almost certainly be fawm songs. I just ned to memorize them. πŸ˜€

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 21

I have a regular 2 hour slot on a saturday and 4 got a run last week. One was particularly well received as its got local content.

  • @soulbird Feb 21

i don't think i can afford to play live in London

  • @wacha  Feb 21

Yes, I was offered a last minute show earlier in the month and I played 4 of my FAWM songs:

  • @jenniferlevenhagen  Feb 22

I'm going to play FAWM material at our local Live FAWM Showcase in Appleton, WI.

It's March 24, 5-8pm (same date as the Songwriter Showcase that @resonut123 is playing in Michigan)!

There's still space for local Fawmers', and if we don't fill up that way, we'll open up more broadly!

    Info regarding Appleton Showcase:

  • @pipewrench67  Feb 22

Played a show earlier in the month, did some material from previous FAWMs. nothing new live yet, but band rehearsal is tonight and I'll be bringing my FAWM songs to be worked on, so maybe in a month or 2 with the band.
Will probably be doing some open mic and or solo stuff before then , that will include new FAWM fodder.

  • @brrrse  Mar 4

I'm leaving in a few for my first ever Open Mic - my first ever FAWM open mic - I'm excited. I'll be performing Paper Boats and Round up - complete with Blues Autoharp. Wish me luck!

  • @barbara  Mar 4

@brrrse best of luck, and time of your life!!!

  • @quork  Mar 4

    Congratulations to all of you.

  • @coolparadiso  Mar 4

Yes i did 5 maybe even 6 yesterday at my regular gig. They went well. It was great to let a few out to play. 1 was a bit harder to play than i recall at the writing and demo. 3 are certs to be a big part of future! Still lots i need to learn better to play. Im really pleased how they went and i think they still will develop a little more.

  • @brrrse  Mar 5

I just got back from my first open mic and I strongly recommend it to everyone. That was so much fun! I performed Paper Boats and Round up - and met some other Seattle FAWMers and WOW - Performing my FAWM songs was a very different experience.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Mar 5

I definitely think "Can I Come Play At Your House" is going into my repertoire. Probably so will "Future Plans."

"Dead Man Rockin'" and "Jones For The Highway" will probably go into the same category as a couple of my songs called "Bo Diddley Died Today" and "Church Bell Blues" -- songs that don't fit my usual style but are good songs nonetheless and I might pull them out once in a while.

Other songs like "Roses At Midnight" might make it in if I can get them developed the way I want them. But even if I only end up adding the first two songs I mentioned, that'll be worth the trip.

  • @helenseviltwin  Mar 5

There's plans for 5 or 6 new songs (some mine, some @expendablefriend's, some collaborations with EF and @orinoco) at my band's next gig in a couple of weeks.

  • @mikegtz  Mar 5

i premiered two songs at my most recent performance at Brooklyn Coffee and Tea House in Providence Saturday night, which were I Only Wanted To Fly and Valentine Hearts. Definitely fun getting the new stuff out there.

  • @rustyp  Mar 5

I performed one FAWM song at a gig last weekend and it was well received. I will perform two or three this weekend at our FAWm showcase in SoCal. Anyone interested in that showcase can find info here in the forums or message me directly. πŸ˜€

  • @sheamiejay  Mar 10

    Just tonight. No
mistakes. Practiced the hell out of it. Good response.

  • @stevenwesleyguiles  Mar 10

Tomorrow night with @rustyp and fellow Southern Californians. πŸ˜€

  • @jacobeverettwallace  Mar 10

I played my first song "Wanderer" live for the first time at a gig last week and it went really well. Especially for not having practiced it much. I even played a live pad track underneath like I recorded it with and people really dug it.

  • @timfatchen  Mar 10

I sang and played "Nine-fingered Timmy and the Sink of Doom, http://fawm.org/songs/87580/ , for which I don't yet have a recording, at one of the local markets. Went down a storm. Flushed with success.

  • @bethdesombre  Mar 10

Yes! at a shared show with other fawmers. At least two of them are likely to be in my regular setlist in the near future.

  • @kirrivath Mar 13

The demo of my song "Superheroes" is video of the live performance. Pauses are to put the GorillaTips back on! They started sliding off twice. lol. http://fawm.org/songs/77701/

  • @zecoop  Mar 13

We are planning to add one of our new Treading Bleu collaboration songs to the set of our next show on March 23... I'm pretty excited about playing this one live. Come on over if you are in the area! πŸ˜€

I sang Misery Loves Company and Pushin' that Box at my annual birthday gig last week. Went over good with the crowd.

  • @chipwithrow  Mar 18

I've listened to a couple of the songs in this thread, and they sure are good ones.
I pretty much only write songs that I could perform with just me and my acoustic guitar ... and then I seldom perform them. So since I'm going to be rehearsing for my birthday gig on the last day of March and recording 10-15 songs for a FAWM album, why not play some new ones on my birthday?
I did play a FAWM 2016 song on Friday night for the first time - it was for a St. Patrick's Day-themed yoga class. The song is called "Good Old Seamus" - which is what we called the old car I was driving, but the song sounds like a singalong ode to a drinking buddy at his wake.

  • @nancyrost  Mar 25

@johncrossman and I played a bunch of new songs at our show today, including his "40 Watt Heart", "Cosmic Ride", "Depending On", "The Success of My Secret", "People Like Me" and "Slow It Down", and my "Holding Hands (And Feeling Nice)", "Senior Pickup", "Fantasy Commission", "Fine", "Sleepover", "Early Spring Baby" and "Connection". @srcoops, @aaronnathans, @barbara, @mikeskliar no recording of our collabs, but thought you'd like to know about their maiden voyages!

  • @mikeskliar  Mar 25

    @nancyrost - that's great!!!!

  • @keithcuts Mar 25

  • @oldlostjohn  Mar 25

Still trying to work last year's songs into the set, as well as some written outside of FAWM. Main priority now is to put together a new album for release and get some of those older songs off my back!

  • @alyxanderjames  Mar 26

I'll be performing 7 or 8 of mine tonight here in Chicago! It's always a mix of exciting and terrifying to try out new stuff on stage for the first time.

  • @barbara  Mar 26

Thanks for sharing the news; I'm happy to hear about it, and I would love to hear it as you perform it someday!

  • @tseaver  Mar 27

@keithcuts cool that you got to play them out. I did my "Don't You Wanna" (one of the two I led) with a friend at the February Songwriters' Showcase here in Fredericksburg. No video allowed in the venue, but I got nice feedback about it afterward.

  • @tuneslayer2018  Mar 27

On Saturday I got to perform "Can I Come Play At Your House" for a group of maybe 100. I was very gratified by the reaction; in looking around the room I noticed that no one was holding side conversations while I was singing (a common occurrence at this type of gathering), my daughter told me that she heard a couple of audible reactions from the audience, and several people came up and complimented me afterward. All in all I'm very happy.

  • @zecoop  Mar 27

Shades and Shadows went great at our show last Friday! So much fun... πŸ˜€πŸ‘

  • @pipewrench67  Mar 29

Played 5 tonight at an open mic, made it through with minor faults. All were we'll received. I brought all thirteen songs and I let the audience pick a number and I played that tune, not necessarily the songs i weekend of picked but I figured it would keep me on my toes.

  • @pipewrench67  Mar 29

    It did.

  • @quork  Apr 12

I performed two of my new songs at an open stage last week. Kudos to my guitar playing friend for learning the progressions an hour before we went on stage.

  • @sunnymae  Apr 13

I did! I played two out and they went over very well. Will be using the same two "keepers" for some upcoming contests and festival submissions.

  • @hornesgiftshop  Apr 24

Two songs going down really well at open mics and folk clubs: Just The Drugs (much improved since FAWM - it rhymes now) and Don't Call Me A Cowboy (with an extra verse). Both of them are playing-to-the-gallery songs, which bothers me not a jot.

  • @paulhenry  Apr 27

I've been playing one of my 3 FAWM songs from this year. It goes over well.

  • @edwardsmusic 6 weeks

On Saturday the 7th of July, I performed a couple of songs at a music competition. It was called "Push Start" (it is a chain of events around Victoria, but the one I attended was the Brimbank event) and held at the auditorium in the Visy Cares Hub (Sunshine).
The two songs I performed were "Feelinglikegraduallyrunningoutofpreciousvaluabletime" (from 50/90 2017 and released on my Bandcamp album On the Edge of Reality") and "Withdraw" from this year's FAWM. Both were performed with me singing over instrumentals.
I decided to do "Withdraw" despite the fact I had written it for other people to sing on (it was part of my "pop album" where the concept was to have different vocalists sing on different songs). I'm actually planning to use that song for a concept album about communication and friendship, which I will be writing for FAWM 2019.

  • @edwardsmusic 1 week

On Thursday the 1st of November, I performed "Home is Where the Heart is" with the vocalist who had sung on the demo. I played the electric piano on the performance.
This was part of my solo performance assessment for my Certificate IV class; the girl who was in Advanced Diploma performed with me for this one song, albeit she wasn't assessed. I performed two other original solo songs; "The Fast Food Song" and "Remain the Same".
