Cowcore Challenge

You know you want to. Dust off that cowbell and give it the honor it deserves by making it's lovely sound the "core" of the song! It can be full out cowbell solos or just a song with heavy cowbell influences. Take a beater and ring a "real" one, or find some fancy sound effect variety (not nearly as therapeutic). The cowbell has different sound qualities depending on where you hit it, and of course, if you are a true hardcore cowcore person, you can get multiple bells of different tones!

Who's in? Tag them #cowcore so we can find each other!

  • @benjaminnolan Jan 17

Shades of the live versions of Deserts Miss The Grain, then? That could be amoosing. I think I'll heifer go at this one. ^^

  • @cts  Jan 18

Cowbell will definitely be an ingredient in the mix!

  • @krayzie003  Jan 18

I love this challenge. 2 of my favorite songs came from this challenge last year.

  • @js6  Jan 18

Dust off? Do you imply that you don't use your cowbell regularly 😁

  • @tootoobee  Jan 18

Just found a very cheap cowbell (still need to order it though) so a real one could replace my sampled cowbell sounds πŸ˜€ Maybe I should dive deeper into this challenge this year ...

  • @b00n Jan 18

    #cowcore ?
    That rings a bell...

  • @krayzie003  Jan 18

@b00n I see what you did there lol

@tootoobee I found a cheap cowbell last year at Harbor Freight. Check your local hardware store.

  • @tootoobee  Jan 18

Thank you @krayzie003 have to search a pet shop for a squeeking rubber chicken already πŸ˜‰ and the cowbell I found is less then 8 € I guess I just order it

  • @darcistrutt  Jan 18

You guys crack me up! I'm expecting some beautiful Moooosic from you all! It's one Bell of a good time!

  • @zxcvbnm  Jan 18

Surelythe ultimate cowbell song was done by Chuck Berrry?

    "My Ding a Ling"

  • @cloudboy  Jan 19

I inherited a small drum kit complete with miniature cowbell. I will try to make this happen.

  • @auditasum Jan 20

I got a cowbell as a gift last year... I would be remiss if I did not use it in this challenge.

  • @the3queens  Jan 20

Cowbell, geez even that needs two hands!

  • @krayzie003  Jan 20

Not if you mount it to a stand.

  • @darcistrutt  Jan 20

@the3queens I mounted both of my cowbells right on my computer desk! It could be great therapy for you! Hope you continue to heal!

  • @odilongreen  Jan 31

I really liked my cowbell submissions the last two years; I hope to keep it up this year and then the next two, so I’ll have a 5-song cowcore EP to release in 2020!

  • @mkd  Jan 31

Ooh, might dust mine off, sounds fun!

  • @defaultdave  Jan 31

Learned a lesson in recording a cowbell.
Don’t record right next to a mic, the sound will cut through a mix like a crazed box cutter in a box factory.

Suggest recording it down a hall, maybe over at your neighbors house.

  • @rops Jan 31

    So down for this challenge!

  • @krayzie003  Jan 31

I have a problem. I hid my cowbell from my 3 year old last month when he wanted to play it. Now I can't find it lol

  • @defaultdave  Feb 5

Broke mine out, surprised it's still in tune.

  • @oddbod  Feb 6

    Well here's mine - collab with @mleverette

it seems this is the only song actually tagged #cowcore so far

Come on Fawmers, let's hear those cowbells

  • @darcistrutt  Feb 7

I needed some bell-banging tonight! Here's my offering, an anthem for Cowcore!

Remember to tag yours #cowcore so we can find it easily.

  • @jwhanberry  Feb 7

First beat, last beat and several beats in between.

  • @tseaver  Feb 14

FWIW, the chorus of my "Caucho y Paraguas" is cowbell-laden:

  • @jwhanberry  Feb 19

Got some bell in this one.

  • @mkd  Feb 21

Removed comment as I ended up removing the cowbell! (sorry!)

  • @mikeskliar  Feb 28

and-- after being in the slackchat room earlier when a discussion of cowbell came up... here's a new cowbell funk-rock-rap in your face song!
