urls and editing

It would be great if URL:s didn't get destroyed when you edit your post. Longer URLs get edited to http://whatever.com/aaa... and when you edit the post, the formatting stays with the ..., when the actual URL can be a lot longer.

I've just been taking the http:// off of the links. Then I highlight and open in new tab with a right click. Yes, it's a work around, but it's doable for now.
@burrsettles has indicated that this site will be going down any day now for the yearly maintenance. Perhaps that's something he could address then if he's not already overwhelmed. -

@burrsettles - The link problem still exists. (I forgot to tag you last week.) It seems that the URL is being truncated.
You can see an example in Tim Fatchen's post in this thread: http://fawm.org/forums/topic/7581/
But apparently it's working in this thread. I've added a couple of longer links and they work. But none of them had a - in them. *shrug* -

@tcelliott I think maybe it only breaks when you edit post-hoc?

It's possible, but when I first noticed it (in another thread) I linked three links and they were all broken on the first posting. But I did copy and paste them. *ponder* I shall try to replicate.

@burrsettles The long .htm URLs truncate to the ellipsis after a post is edited. A URL that is a .jpg disappears entirely on editing ...

Dunno if this is a hijack, but the profile edit handler forcibly prepends 'http://' to the URL value, which causes broken URLs for those pasting into it.
