Listening to whole FAWM albums

Now FAWM is almost over, I'd like to listen to whole albums by particular FAWMers. But I don't see a way to do this - "Auto-advance to next song" chooses a random song from all of FAWM. Am I missing something?

I realise implementing this might be tricky (what's the next track after a collaboration?) but I think it would be a nice feature - I'm finding it easier to appreciate people's songs, and to make more informative comments, once I've got used to their style and can put each song in context.

Of course it's not so hard to hit the back button and click on the next song, but that's annoying if you're trying to listen while doing other things.

In my case and probably for anyone else who hosts their music on Soundcloud, you can click through to the SC profile and play all the tracks directly from there.
I actually put a link to my FAWM playlist on my profile page to make it convenient.

In my case, I made a hash tag for my album -- "#abecedary" which lists all 26 songs of my album, proper. The rest of my output is just having fun.

  • @zecoop  Feb 26

Mine are on Bandcamp, and many others have theirs there too. I guess technically, 2017 will be there once FAWM is over, but all the previous years are there. 😀

I think most people will want to complete FAWM before deciding on what constitutes the album. They'll then try to sequence the songs as best they can (most people won't have planned things enough to record an album in order) and then upload to Bandcamp or a Soundcloud playlist* so that the album can be heard as an entity.

March is probably the best time to listen to complete albums.

*Just in case people aren't aware - if you go into your Soundcloud playlist and go to Edit / Tracks, you can drag them into a different sequence.

I uploaded all of my songs to YouTube and put them on a "playlist" there.

I'd love a feature to download a FAWMer's package: each song with accompanying lyrics and liner notes. The FAWMers I love most, I'm packaging up their entire output for the month, and it's tedious.

  • @resonut123  Mar 2

My 2017 just went up, plus older FAWM albums there too.
My FAWM 2014-2017 songs are on bandcamp:

I've used the hearts to signify the songs that made the FAWM album.
We did 23 this year and narrowed it down to 13 or 14 I think.
It would be cool to hear other fawmer's full albums if there was a way

  • @ampersandman  Mar 2

I made a Soundcloud playlist, mostly to check if the songs work in my intended order.

  • @manonmarz Mar 2

    I have bandcamp of mine,

  • @metalfoot  Mar 2

@spinhead I actually have so packaged my Abecedary album but I haven't yet updated my website with the download for it.

  • @brrrse  Mar 2

Bandcamp link for the first of a few albums I"ll be releasing from FAWM2017.

  • @tuomoh Mar 2

Since I worked on an album from the start and dumped all the songs in one go on the 28th, my tracks comprise the actual album in correct order.

But now I really feel that the next time I have to change my habit. 😁

I re-mixed a few songs and re-ordered the songs into a more cohesive album here :

hope you get the time to listen, we're pretty proud of it

  • @kraftec Mar 2

Mine is on Spotify here: 😀

  • @hazeyjohnii  Mar 2

Thanks to all for posting - here's mine:

Still in the original order because I was mindful of how the songs were working as an album as I wrote them, and each track tends to be a response of some kind to the last. First song is the weakest, but I think after that the first half is surprisingly solid. Second half is patchier but there are some fun, weird ideas in there that I really like.

And I'll leave a shout out here for @noisemachines and @jmilesporter whose album is here:

I discovered this fantastic album because @ampersandman correctly highlighted it on the Recommended Songs thread - all the songs were uploaded in the last five days so they haven't had much attention, but they will definitely be worth yours.

Mine (from each FAWM I've participated in) are in separate playlists on Youtube:

  • @billwhite51 Mar 2

my album is laid out to be listened to in whole and in sequence, but yoou have to start t the bottom with old road sycamore street and work yur way up tp the last song, holes in the sky. if the firt song intrigues you, please listen to more in order until i bore you..and leve comments but only if you really hve something honest to say, good or bad.

After figuring out what to do with my 'classical' octets (I've used them as interludes) I've sequenced my FAWM tracks into some sort of order and created my (first) Bandcamp album -
