  • @timfatchen  Jan 30

    FAWMku-defeated, we know,
The FAWMericks try to lie low.
But I'll lend them a hand,
    And help them to stand,
The better to sink a low blow.

  • @metalfoot  Jan 30

    The FAWMerick's trickier stuff
To write one can really be rough
But I'll give it a try
    As the minutes go by
And perhaps no one will call my bluff.

  • @tawny249  Jan 30

FAWM has yet to start in its own right,
But the forums are such a delight,
    If not for the warning
    Of work in the morning,
I'd probably stay up all night.

  • @stephenwordsmith Jan 30

To dither in here for too long
Would, for me, be a stratagem wrong
    For if I'm to tether
    Two rhyme schemes together
I might as well Wordsmith a song.

  • @spinhead  Jan 30

I've some lyrical rhythm for you
Here's what I've decided to do
    Fit it into a song
    Cause it's never wrong
    To lim'rick instead of haiku

  • @timfatchen  Jan 30

I once wrote a whole libretto
With haiku I hatched in my ghetto.
    It's now on it's way!!!!
(But the Arts folks, they say,
Are after me with a stilletto.)

  • @robynmackenzie  Jan 30

The month drawing nearer and nearer
My garb getting queerer and queerer
    I must then admit
    I'm not really that fit
And that's why I broke that damn mirror

  • @stephenwordsmith Jan 30

The critics hunt Fatchen with shoes
This hot pursuit's his own to lose
    Watch out for those vandals
    Accosting with sandals
'Lean left or lean right, Jimmy - choose!'

  • @timfatchen  Jan 30

You'd think I was one of the Sith,
    Indulging in heroic myth.
    But to my clear sight,
    There's no left or right,
Just a centre that's filled with pith.

  • @timfatchen  Jan 30

    FAWMericks down to page 3!
Well, that's nothing to do with me.
    I push and I shove
    To keep them above
But FAWMku has won, home free!

  • @darcistrutt  Jan 30

Yes FAWMku has got a great start
But FAWMerick's close to my heart
    I should work instead
    Rhymes float through my head
My musey throws words like a dart

  • @donna  Jan 30

From each part of the world we've come surging
All these slightly mad FAWMers converging
    Now we’re storming the gate
    And impatiently wait
For our Muse and the Date to start merging!

  • @darcistrutt  Jan 30

Yes I could be called slightly mad
    Creatively that's not so bad
    I want to create
    So here I will wait
And cuddle with my new notepad

  • @aflinner Jan 30

I'm eager to start a new song
Each moment I feel it more strong
    Wanna get my feet wet
    But it isn't FAWM yet
And I know a head start would be wrong.

  • @metalfoot  Jan 30

Sitting at my desk here I'm ready
    Thinking of rhymes rather petty
    OK, that was bad
    Indeed, rather sad
My mind has turned into spaghetti.

  • @toms  Jan 30

FAWMericks oft get a bad rap
For being the poems of a sap
    But reading those here
    All by geniuses, 'tis clear
In the pre-FAWM they sure fill a gap!

  • @donna  Jan 30

The Muse has a special affection
For FAWMers who pass Her inspection
    It’s said that their rhymes
    Often reach the sublime
And at times even passing perfection

  • @aflinner Jan 30

Greetings to all, old and green
Who prime the FAWM new-song machine!
    I'm sure I'll write plenty
    (My record is twenty
But I'll be content with fourteen)

  • @stephenwordsmith Jan 30

    A limerick's something aesthetic;
Defined by one trait: it's poetic
    But in terms of elements
    Like wit and eloquence
    This one's just arsing pathetic.

  • @larry Jan 30

    Started out blaming the dog
For an odor belongs in a bog
    As fingers start pointing
    A guilty, anointing
I just say I stepped on frog

  • @timfatchen  Jan 30

    @larry, above, is no fool,
    Not even intentionally crool.
But his head's in a fog,
    To tread on a frog...
    He's just entered Hell's vestibool....

  • @stephenwordsmith Jan 30

Never giving you up - that's a virtue
Never to run around and desert you
    Never making you cry
    Never saying goodbye
Never telling a lie for to hurt you

    This gag, although terribly old
Is rarely applied, so I'm told
    To this medium which
    We now use - Life's a bitch:
    You all just got Fawmerick-rolled!

  • @spinhead  Jan 31

    @stephenwordsmith BANNED

Yes, it's true, it's virtually impossible to be banned from limericks, but somehow, you pulled it off.

  • @spinhead  Jan 31

Will you please record that to the tune of a Milli Vanilli song, just to make sure it's as painful as humanly possible?

  • @toms  Jan 31

I thought I'd heard all the greatest puns
    That came from human imaginations
    But "FAWMerick-rolled"
    Absolutely takes the gold
So brilliant! So painful! It stuns!

  • @metalfoot  Jan 31

    My friend @stephenwordsmith
writes limericks right full of pith
    But FAWMerick-rolled?
    That just leaves me cold.
He's no limerick jedi. He's Sith!

  • @larry Jan 31

No @stephenwordsmith in FAWMerick, you say
    Execution? A pardon? A stay?
Seems that more of a crime
    Is when Journey does rhyme
Or tries to, the words bay and ci-Tay

  • @donna  Jan 31

There a-once was a wordsmeeth called Stephen
Who managed to a-get heemself dreeven
    From a-FAWMerick’s door
    But wait, there’s a-much more
    He was a-kickin’ his a-heels while a-leavin’

  • @timfatchen  Jan 31

The reason is plain to see
    For FAWMerick's score misery:
    Whenever it rises
    It bans its revivers
And cuts itself off at the knee..

  • @scubed  Jan 31

At this hour I should still be snoozing
Instead too much sleep I am losing
    My brain thinks it's time
    To make doggerel rhyme
I hope it is vaguely amusing

  • @mishykatz  Jan 31

    While wandering the FAWMer forums
    I stumbled across a conundrum
    Limericks were there
    But lyrics unfair
Until the next day it does come

  • @scubed  Jan 31

FAWM hour is now fast upon us
The world will soon greet brand-new song-us
    May all find the Muse
    And self-doubting lose
And writer's block soon be long gone-us!

  • @timfatchen  Jan 31

    @scubed's spelling I greet like a brudder,
    But not a significant udder.
    For writers who pun
Get thrown out, one by one...
A fate that I think on and shudder.

  • @pokerowan  Jan 31

A pun as a verb, not a noun?
It's correct, but it earns you a frown.
    With denominalisation
    comes frank complication
of word classes hard to pin down.

  • @tawny249  Jan 31

OMG, I'm in awe of that dude,
@stephenwordsmith, so suave, yet so crude,
    He has reason to brag,
    How'd he manage that gag?
Simply mad skillz with that attitude.

    (FAWMerick-rolled...I am not worthy)

  • @metalfoot  Jan 31

    But is @stephenwordsmith's ban true?
I mean, @spinhead , just who are you?
    To ban our old friend
    Would be a sad end
Oh Wordsmith, come back soon, I'm blue!

(submitted in humour and good spirits. Not actually calling anyone out here!)

  • @scottlake Jan 31

I've not tread 'fore here in this thread,
FAWMku's more the bed for my head,
    But I came here today,
    To say "What the hey?"
To ban Stephen and leave him for dead.

  • @rich Jan 31

I once knew a girl from limerick she did teach me one trick and she treated me right i might remember that night ill tell you the story but best put a cork in it

  • @donna  Jan 31

There was a young man from New Zealand
Who managed to end up revealin’
By a deft sleight of hand
    That someone could be banned
From FAWMerick – it’s quite left me reelin’

  • @spinhead  Jan 31

I used to derail the FAWMku
Each year, starting in my FAWM 2
    Got myself banned
    As a joke, understand
But I've treated it as if it's true

    @stephenwordsmith, a FAWMer for years
Surely knows that if my name appears
    A joke is at hand
Yeah, he knows he's not banned
Punny rhymes are music to my ears

  • @metalfoot  Jan 31

I had assumed that's just how it was
And I'm glad you accepted my joke cuz
    I've got to admit
    It'd be a big hit
Milli Vanilli plus Rick Astley... what buzz!

  • @donna  Jan 31

Oh, what a relief now to hear it!
Thank the stars there’s no need now to fear it
‘Twas all meant as a joke
    A wink-wink kind of poke
So let’s all of us stand up and cheer it! 😉

  • @spinhead  Jan 31

@metalfoot Just to share some FAWM history: Long, long ago, in a thread far away, I used to pop in and drop a limerick in the middle of the haiku. @philnorman eventually gave me, not so much a stern look as a sad headshake, the kind your mother did when you'd do THAT THING once too often, and I finally went off and started a separate limerick thread.

I just didn't want anyone to know that @stephenwordsmith actually won FAWMerick with that beast. One for the ages, truly.

Now we can all go write sonnets. Funny sonnets. Funny sonnets with an AABBA rhyme scheme, in amphabrac or anapest, with 8 syllables in the first, second, and last lines, and 5 in the third and fourth.

    That kind of sonnet.

  • @donna  Jan 31

There once was a girl in a bonnet
Who thought to herself, ‘Oh, a sonnet!
    I’ll most likely do best
    With a bright anapest
Thanks for the challenge, I’m on it’

  • @spinhead  Jan 31

While sonnets are really quite nice
(To speak love, I know they suffice)
    I think a pun
    Is so much more fun
As a method for breaking the ice

  • @timfatchen  Jan 31

@spinhead, please show us your hand
Was it me or @scottlake had you banned?
    I can't remember
    That time in September
    My memory's turned to quicksand.

  • @spinhead  Jan 31

The banning we speak of was here
Though, of course, it was far too severe
    and the Rick-Roll-of-Myth
Just sort of knocked me right out of my chair, y'know, sort of put me on my ear

But now I reread your Q
    And realize I've confused U
    @scottlake is a peach
    and you haven't the reach
twas @philnorman who did the, um, do

  • @philnorman  Feb 1

    @spinhead 😂😂

  • @timfatchen  Feb 1

Ah well, I don't get my own way,
Ev'ry time I sit down to play..
    But I'm not unkind,
    I kept it in mind
To make the sun rise, today.

  • @scubed  Feb 1

    The sun's risen over Australia
Oh, first day of FAWM, we all hail ya
    Up here in the States
    We still sit and wait
But we'll soon don our fine FAWM regalia!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 1

Midnight can't come nearly soon enough
For me to start recording demos rough
    I should go to bed
    And rest my tired head
And then start writing songs off the cuff

  • @tiller2  Feb 1

So it's started and folks are in heaven,
Some already have reached six or seven,
    Yet I'm feeling glum
'Cause my brain has gone numb,
My hopes pinned on the skirmish at eleven.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 2

Slid all the way to the sixth page
The FAWMerick hid in its cage
    Until a tired bloke
    For a little joke
Thought he would put it back on stage.

  • @spinhead  Feb 2

Oh @metalfoot thanks for the bump
This forum runs like Forrest Gump
If we don't stay on it
    Some haiku or sonnet
Will put our fair verse in the dump

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 2

Rules around my place are strict,
It's hushed as per quiet edict,
    So if we get raucous
    My neighbors will mock us.
    (Collabs aren't enough to evict!)

  • @timfatchen  Feb 2

Don't let this brief sparkle of sun
Let you think that FAWMerick's won!
    It's all very Zen,
    But back on Page 10
Is where you'll be once we are done!

  • @spinhead  Feb 2

    That a promise, oh Mr. @timfatchen ?
Just what kind of plot are you hatchin'?
    We're ready and willing
    To keep right on filling
This itch that keeps us all scratchin'

  • @timfatchen  Feb 2

To stay on Page One? It's tough,
And you lot aren't scratching enough.
    Now FAWMku can do it--
    Those haiku sail through it!
But FAWMerick? Not the Right Stuff.

  • @spinhead  Feb 2

    Piffle and balder and dash
Haiku pride is in for a crash
    Our wit will prevail
    5 7 5 will fail
And we'll knock you right on your backside

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 2

    O.M.G. L.O.L. teeheehee
as hilarious as these things can be
    i must now away
    and escape from the fray
    before limericking's all I see.

  • @donna  Feb 4

Through many fine countries I wander
Sit down by their oceans and ponder
    I enjoy all the leisure
    But none gives me pleasure
Like knowing FAWM time’s never squandered

  • @scubed  Feb 4

A shy, shrinking violet I'm not
I'll push FAWMerick back to a spot
On the top of Page One
    For another brief run
As a topic that's hotter than hot

  • @spinhead  Feb 4

    Why thank you, @scubed, @donna
Those FAWMkus don't know what we're gonna
    Do to them now
    No matter how
They do or they do not wanna

  • @spinhead  Feb 4

I'm sure that last weasel-y bit
Is destined to not be a hit
    I've written some verse
    You'd find even worse
But that doesn't mean that I'll quit.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 4

A FAWMerick thread that was bloated,
To the top of the pond it once floated.
    What caused this remission?
    Why, decomposition!
It was lifted by gas, we all noted.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 4

The Century Club I have joined now
Listening to all songs I can foind now.
    Enjoying these tracks
    Cleaning out the wax
With metal and punk newly coined now.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 4

    In honour of @metalfoot's rising,
I'll now do a thing most surprising:
    Keep this on Page One
For its Day in the Sun,
    My principles compromising.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 4

    @timfatchen , I want you to know
    That the footlings appreciate so
    The kind words you wrote
    About their first notes
And you set their faces aglow!

  • @spinhead  Feb 5

I've had a cold far too long
So I'm writing a tropical song
    There's sand and there's sun
    And my Best Beloved one
And some coffee, thick, black, and strong

  • @metalfoot  Feb 7

My mandolin sits on my lap
Its strings are about to go snap
So I'll play them some more
Then head out of the door
And buy some new strings just like zap

  • @spinhead  Feb 7

My mandolin strings are quite new
I've broken myself quite a few
    I know they must
    Sound good with less rust
Hey, Amazon ships 'em free, too!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 7

There's a music store in the next town.
One of these days I should go down.
    And buy some new strings
    Yes, change these old things.
For then I shan't sound like a clown.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 7

    My fiddle today I played,
But instead of singing, it brayed.
So I first begged its pardon
    Then removed to the garden,
Where I threatened it with being spayed.

  • @barbara  Feb 7

    Instruments go on the fritz
It can drive us right out of our wits!
When it's voice has grown hoarse
    You need some recourse--
But to fiddle with your fiddle's bits!?

  • @timfatchen  Feb 7

I need to draw a long bow
    To make my fiddle go
But my eyes can't quite see
    Where my fingers should be
So the pitch goes above and below.

  • @barbara  Feb 7

You just have to play it by feel
For a little while longer until
    Doc recalibrates yer
    (A collaborator?)
Then off you go, into a reel!

  • @spinhead  Feb 8

    At 13 I'm sure that I'll win
And then I'll just start up again
    If I can make 50
    That'll be nifty
And then I can put down my pen

  • @metalfoot  Feb 10

    That extra syllable's a trick
To deal with it can be quite slick
    But what can I say
    It's not every day
That I try to write quite so quick

  • @chrishope  Feb 10

there was a young? haikuer called chris
whose posts tended to take the piss
    the cynicism was a trick
    which needed stamping on quick
so popped over and fawmerick'd this

  • @spinhead  Feb 10

young is as young does @chrishope
or I would do nothing but mope
    at three times nineteen
    and all that I've seen
I pretend to be less of a dope

  • @metalfoot  Feb 10

A product of primes such as those
Might not wear a younger man's clothes
    But, yet, I'd dare say,
    Mixed in with the grey,
Is a cleverness that ever grows.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 14

    The FAWMericks sink ever down
This leaves me with a sad frown
So I'll give this a bump
    Just a small little jump
Gives us a new old place to clown.

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 14

I'm trying to hit many genres
And collab sometimes, it is an honour,
    I can't really sing,
    A crapella's my thing,
    I wish February was longer.

  • @spinhead  Feb 14

    I think limericks oughta
Be something kids are taught to
    Compose now and then
    With a pencil or pen
Despite the fact haiku is shorter

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 14

    haiku's a little bit tougher
    cuz limericks have that buffer
    with a different rhyme
    it gives you some time
to think of what else you can offer.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 14

    A FAWMerick revenant gave
This thread a reprieve from the grave.
    It's not that I mind,
    (I'm really quite kind)
    To waste one's time so, it's quite...brave.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 14

I like to waste time, it is true.
    It helps February get through.
It can be a tough time
    But with rhythm and rhyme
You can come up with stuff that is new.

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 14

I'm gonna say time's never wasted
just sometimes the useless is tasted.
    Don't be a dualist,
    sample the foolish,
And let yourself never be chastened

  • @barbara  Feb 15

    a fawmerick might be distracting
the demands are not very exacting
    so if I kill time
with five lines and some rhymes
    it's like writing a song, but fast-acting!

  • @spinhead  Feb 15

I see @barbara is playing both teams
    no loyalty there, it seems
    we would all like you
    to knock off the haiku
(and @barbara says, "In your dreams!")

  • @barbara  Feb 15

    But I'm not entirely here
I only just 'seem' to appear
    Playing "capture the flag"
    or maybe "freeze tag"
Back to FAWMku I go, have no fear!

  • @purplehayes Feb 15

    Well, here's a fine thing I've discovered!
A song is grand - brand-new or covered
    But Limerick writing's
    Each inch as exciting
And here's a thread for them - I love it!

  • @timfatchen  Feb 15

    It's @spinhead who's dreaming away
It rankles him more every day
    That FAWM'rick's survival
    Depends on its rivals
Who set this whole thread on its way!!!!

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 16

there once was a FAWMer, @timfatchen
Who was teasing @spinhead with a passion
    his FAWMkus could race
    around FAWMericks' pace
In the forum list, there was no matchin'.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 16

In kindness, I'm not really lacking,
    For FAWM'rick I'm currently backing!
At the top let it stay
    For part of a day,
Then FAWMku can send it all packing!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 16

For the FAWMericks to be atop
A number of us must keep shop
    The forums are busy
    It all goes a-tizzy
    And quickly the FAWMericks drop!

  • @spinhead  Feb 16

I try, as I'm able, to keep
The FAWMericks from sinking too deep
    A plot I'd be hatchin'
    To foil @timfatchen
If I didn't have to go to bed now because I haven't been well and a guy needs his rest. Erm, sleep.

  • @woody Feb 16

I must make a point educational
    The limerick's not conversational
    Unless it is bawdy
    or tawdry or naughty
this death star is not operational

  • @woody Feb 16

    I'm not saying we should get ribald;
Just pointing out we have been crippled
    Were we to unburden
    decorum, I'm certain
The fawmerick count would be tripled

  • @woody Feb 16

If I understand how they're numbered
I think this is number 100
    and so the next one
    would be 301
    when accounted for thus unencumbered

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 16

i made up a song out of limericks
It was more than a little sarcastic
    i would like to share
    if anyone cares
but be warned it isn't fantastic.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 17

"If you wish in the world to advance"
Took me years to discover, by chance,
    That Gilbert who wrote it
    In limericks, noted
He looked at the meter askance.

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 17

If that's the case, I'll still be Modest,
    (Invoking the most humble Goddess)
    She'll wear me like clothes
    While I'm in the throes
    Of ditching oppression's tight bodice.

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 17

Perhaps that was a buzz killer...
This FAWMerick should be a pillar
    Of cleverness, cheer,
    And nary a tear,
Unless it be laughter that spill 'er

  • @toms  Feb 17

Though I may help FAWMku progress,
    To help others feeling distress,
    Tis nearly as certain
    There's nothing so hurtin'
As knowing that FAWMerick's the best!

  • @chrishope  Feb 17

glazed over and staring at forum
he pondered his lack of decorum
    quite frankly appalled
that his new song was called
'she makes me come like a woman'

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 17

    Now that's a song I am approving
The title alone is quite moving,
    Completely intrigued!
    I bet he's fatigued
    After such inappropriate grooving.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 17

    FAWMerick's in bankruptcy
It's cashed in its last chips, you see.
    So It's not unexpected
    That th' thread's now directed
    To softer pawn-ography

  • @toms  Feb 18

    Indelicate matters are oft misportrayed
As having from good taste quite strayed.
    Why belittle them? I ask,
    Celebrate them and bask
In our great human animality, unafraid!

  • @squeakmouse73 Feb 18

This thread is quite great for a giggle,
And my poetic sense it does tickle.
    Being Fawmerick-rolled
    By Sir Wordsmith was gold...
And, now my poor brain's in a pickle,

For once I had thought of a rhyme
That was perfect to fill that last line,
    But like Tim Fatchen's beer,
    It all disappeared
Into some black hole in my mind.

  • @timfatchen  Feb 19

    Overcome by remorse and sadness
I try to amend for my badness
    By helping this go
To page 1, though I know
Deep in my heart, it's madness

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 19

So, I'm not throwing anything out,
    a terrible idea, no doubt,
    I posted a jingle
    in honour of singles
who don't know what love is about.

  • @squeakmouse73 Feb 19

    A-crashing I surely must go,
Though the need for sleep drives me nutso.
    So I avoid my bed
    By reading this thread
And dropping by to say hello.

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 19

Hi there, how do you do? And ahoy!
    Scribing FAWMericks: a clever ploy
    For avoiding the warmth
    Of adventuring forth
    into dreamland with sleepyhead joy

  • @timfatchen  Feb 20

    Once FAWMerick sinks deep below
It lifts with a heartwarming glow
    For foruminifera
    Chasing a chimera
Just can't help making it go!

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 20

There once was a man from Nantucket
Who's shirt was so long he should tuck it
    Into his waistband,
    But you understand,
Ate fried chicken bucket by bucket.

  • @woody Feb 20

my tube amp goes up to thirteen,
which makes other pickers turn green.
    They loudly declare
    that it just isn't fair
    using language distinctly obscene

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 20

The louder the better I say
Better to dance, sing and play,
    Though sometimes quiet
    can be a riot
If you've something awful to say

  • @woody Feb 20

    If I had a banjo I'd banjo
All morning and night at the rancho
    I'd pick it and lilt
    while at windmills I'd tilt
Just like Donald Quixote and Sancho

  • @squeakmouse73 Feb 20

There once was a man named FAWM Eric,
    Whose lyrics were quite generic,
    But he whistled a tune,
    Which made the girls swoon,
And his FAWMku put men in hysterics.

  • @chrishope  Feb 20

    if i had a bassoon, i'd bassoon
and steal notions of swoon, tune and croon
    they'd send me away
    but still i would play
and my basschoons would cut through the gloom

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 20

If I had a keyboard for poking
I'd play it, this isn't me joking,
    I used to have one
    But now I have none
It was easier to quit smoking.

  • @squeakmouse73 Feb 20

I have me a little addiction.
    I want me a nice-sized collection
    Of indigenous flutes
    I can rooty toot toot.
Too bad they're so stinkin' expensive.

  • @woody Feb 21

There's a whole bunch of notes on my harp
    A, B, C, D, E, F, and G sharp,
    plus additional tonics,
    and their enharmonics
Creating more scales than a carp

  • @woody Feb 21

My favorite mode is the Phrygian
It is almost, to me, a religion.
    That flat second note
    Gets my definite vote
Though I sharpen it up just a smidgeon

  • @woody Feb 21

How come nobody uses the tenor clef?
For my range, there isn't a better clef.
    Yet every score
    I've encountered, and more,
Never anchors to C, Just to G-or-F

  • @woody Feb 21

A flute is a tube full of holes
Each taking from airflow its toll
    Using levers and springs
    and fingers and things
Plugging various holes is the goal

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 21

The first has seven to ten in it
The second and fifth get in on it
Five to seven, third and fourth,
With a new rhyme scheme of course,
    A syllable count meta-limerick.

  • @woody Feb 21

There once was a lion named Simba
    With talent for playing marimba.
    And when given the chance
He could do a short dance
With all four of his elbows akimba

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 21

There once was a lion named Scar
    Who jogged memories of Jafar,
    Each, so hungry for power
    In just over an hour,
Were canned by ambition's high bar.

  • @chrishope  Feb 22

as with fawmerick i'm stuck on page 3
so far from where i wanted to be
    this journey's been wierd
like Moby Dick i've been speared
still, worse things happen at sea

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 22

Don't tempt the god Poseidon to splash
Your FAWMing with a shipwrecky crash
    With all of your might,
    Just continue to write,
And hope there's no smiting backlash.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 26

    FAWMericks forgotten, you say?
Not true! They've just come out to play
    Though some may forget
    Still I haven't yet
And I check them on the odd day

  • @darcistrutt  Feb 26

Life balance is not at all right
So I may give my boss fright
    I am a bit young
    But work days are done
On Monday a memo I'll write

  • @scubed  Feb 26

@darcistrutt, I wish you the best
Time to relax and get rest
    I can relate
    Retirement is great -
    A decision I've not second-guessed

  • @timfatchen  Feb 26

Go for it Darci, it's time
When all out of kilter and line
At the end of the day
    We all walk away
Take proper care and you're fine.

  • @woody Feb 28

I promise to comment in March
With lots of vim, vigor, and starch
    I've been very busy
    and all in a tizzy
So please do not judge me too harch

  • @chrishope  Mar 1

i swore last year no more of me
    to be broader, lyrically
    i feel like i missed
and spent to much time pissed
the black sheep of the fawm family

  • @metalfoot  Mar 4

Although the end of FAWM is sad
There's one thing that makes me quite glad
    The music's still up
    So I'll raise a cup
To all the tunes, both good and bad!

  • @spinhead  Mar 5

    Ah, FAWMrick, you pernicious weed
Growed like I ain't never seed
    Plowed under, and then
    You sprout up again
    Bein' what you've always beed

  • @darcistrutt  Mar 5

I know I should be commenting
    But still I am lementing
    This Fawm is now done
    And yes I have 'won'
    Praise whiskey now fermenting

  • @squeakmouse73 Mar 5

Oh, fawmerick, how I have missed you.
I find it so hard to resist you.
    Your humor and rhyme
    And your rhythm sublime
Make fawmlessness less of an issue.

  • @spinhead  Mar 6

    I've figured out why FAWMku
    Is always more popular here
    It's easier when
    You write without rhyme
And just get the syllables right

  • @metalfoot  Mar 6

Ah, spinhead, my friend, it is true
That much simpler is the FAWMku
    But despite that fact
    I'll use no great tact
In trying to reply to you!

  • @spinhead  Mar 6

I like 'em much better with rhyme
It's part of their prime paradigm
    They're better this way
And I do have to say
It's better to lim'rick than mime

  • @metalfoot  Mar 13

So quiet, the forums, these days
But I have to give this place praise
    FAWM's a quite civil spot
And I've learned a whole lot
But it's sad when the fires cease to blaze.

  • @woody Mar 14

FAWM Over, I pour me a beer
Then seventeen weeks in the clear.
    Subtract fifty-ninety
    and na-so-al-writey
Leaves seven months idle, per year

  • @stephenwordsmith Mar 15

FAWM's now come to its raw termination
So I hope it's not beyond my station
    To take y'all to task
    And plaintively ask:
Can we now lift this dreadful probation?

  • @spinhead  Mar 15

    That ban was imaginary
    Wouldn't have thunk you'd be care-y
    But iffen you was
    Rejoice, because
    It's all yourn until January

    or thereabouts, depending, y'know . . .

  • @timfatchen  Mar 15

    "thereabouts, dee-pends, y'know"
If I were you, Stephen, I'd go
    To where the precise
Cut their lines slice by slice
In the FAWMku thread just down below.

  • @lissielou79 Mar 15

    Oooooh hello,
    Just a few FAWMer's left I see,
    Dwindling out to sea,
    Left behind our trace,
    Until the next race,
I can't wait till next February,
    I'll stick around incase.....

  • @woody Mar 15

    I understood Wordsmith probated
    and otherwise defenetrated
    for an asocial troll
    viz. a limerick-roll
    Are his privileges now reinstated?

  • @spinhead  Mar 17

Let's all draw a Venn diagram
    Listing FAWMers who post dithyramb:
    Or, anyone with
    An electrocardiogram

  • @woody Mar 18

I once wrote a song Dionysian
and sang it with such great precision
    That all in the house
    drank 'til utterly soused
And I thereby accomplished my mission

  • @barbara  Mar 18

    Beware of a mead-pushing minstrel
Nothing under his spell is 'consensual'
    The way these nights go
    The next thing you know
You're hung over and missing your menstrual!

  • @crisp1  Mar 18

    With talent beyond superficial
So deep you could say interstitial
    The FAWMers unite
    Words and music ignite
    The whole thing’s remarkably spicial

  • @squeakmouse73 Mar 18

The wonderful flow of a limerick
Is something that no one can mimic,
    So let the pen flow
    Till this poetry grows
    Into a beautiful epidemic.

  • @darcistrutt  Mar 19

Work stresses are nearing their end
My home-life will be on the mend
    I'm wearing a smile
    Retirement style
    The count-down tomorrow is ten

  • @metalfoot  Mar 19

Fading like flowers, hour by hour
    The FAWMerick thread doth sour
    But that's ok
    While skies are grey
For summer's glow soon shall tower.

  • @spinhead  Mar 20

Let's all pause and give a shoutout to @crisp1 for making a word rhyme whether it wanted to or not. (In Dana Carvey's voice, I think.)

  • @crisp1  Mar 20

Gotta show 'em who's the boss, @spinhead!

  • @woody Mar 22

Some rhymes are a little bit forced
    or quite insufficiently sourced
    and others so awful
    the court find them lawful-
-ly good cause for getting divorced

  • @timfatchen  Mar 22

I was looking for something facetious
To say about rhymes that are specious
    But my angst it abated
    When @spinhead updated
An' I realised they're merely capricious

  • @crisp1  Mar 22

    To make a rhyme's a simple path
    Akin to elementary math
    The goal is to compound
    The finest fitting sound
And hope to dodge nitpickers' wrath

  • @woody Mar 31

    perfection is merely extravagance
which ought to be treated with abstinence
    So anyone thinks
    that my near-rhyming stinks
is invited to come kiss my assonance

  • @squeakmouse73 Apr 2

A major part of being limmerickal
Is knowing how to make people giggle,
    So, thank you, dear @woody
    For your last little goody.
My funny bone you surely did tickle.
