South Carolina USA Jan 2010
Influences: Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Dar Williams, Tom House, The Tallest Man on Earth, John Prine.
I recently retired the poetry and music open mic that took place every Monday night in Charleston, SC at East Bay Meeting House after 14 years. I now have Monday nights free.
This is my 8th FAWM in a row. I've completed the challenge every year with a few "keepers" every year.

Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed the song : )
Thanks for additional feedback! I’m glad you like the fix. I suspect the gloss has gone off for me as I’ve spent too long wrestling with it. Gonna play it out tonight and see how it goes down live.
Really appreciate your thoughts.
Hi! Thanks for your thoughtful feedback on "Julie Andrews". I think I agree with your comments on the Christopher Plummer line. I hope to sort that out post FAWM when I get some breathing space. To keep him in place and clean him up is the challenge - yeah, the level of suggestiveness is beyond suggestive there and does jar a little. Thank you for the truth!
Thanks for that kind comment on Perspective Blues! I see your two more recent songs got buried in my Watchlist. I’ll check em out right now
Thanks for yet another detailed comment and close read of one of my songs ("It's Just Arithmetic"). I appreciate the earlier comment you left as well. I'm looking forward to getting caught up over here this week, but in the meantime: seriously? There's gonna be a "macrame" prompt? How awesome is that?!
That's right, 1967 is the year I was established. Founded? Built? Found by the road sounds terrible.
Born is a word...
Hey! Thanks for the feedback. I’m not sure what they call that strum style/time signature exactly...I started out with something a little janglier (I don’t think that’s a word 😀)but it was sounding kinda sloppy against the rhythm of the melody/lyrics, and then I tried just a straight up punky down strum but then I felt like it lost something so this was the compromise I found 😀 As for the page after page lyrics, you’re probably right. I had been brainstorming in my Songwriter bubble and I literally had pages of potential bumperstickers cliches to choose from, but outside of the bubble...it doesn’t make that much sense 😀 I’ll give some thoughts to revising for sure. Thanks!
1 see a lefty. 2 hit Watch. 3 listen to songs. 4. ask for more
So good to see you! About to settle in and give your songs a listen. Yours are always among my favorites 😀@
Hi, Jim! Hope you'll be taking part in this year's FAWM. I won't be writing lyrics this year but I hope to steal some moments here and there to comment a bit, hopefully. If you get a chance, could you stop by my page and see the note that I left for everyone who wrote music last year for "The Road is So Long"? Thanks!
