Catherine Wacha 14

Artist Bio

Influences:   Melissa Etheridge, Nirvana, Fleetwood Mac, Paul Williams, 10,000 Maniacs, Sarah McLachlan, Madonna, The White Stripes

My first year taking part in FAWM was 2016, I fell short of the 14 songs. In 2017 I was able to complete all 14 songs and did my first collaboration.

I am going to try to put myself out there for some more collaborations and hopefully after February I will refine the songs some more and get a FAWM album done.

I am currently recording everything on a TASCAM DP-008EX and then importing it into Audacity.

I use either my Tanglewood acoustic, Yamaha Guitalele or Fender Squire electric to record everything.

Thank you so much! When I need You Most is the first duet I've written and have recorded. I've had harmonies added to songs before but never a deliberate tempt at a duet. It's so awesome that you enjoyed it!

  • @kahlo2013  1 day

Thanks for your nice comment on my glory and praise song. With all going on I this world it is hard to want to admit that I am Christian let alone sing about it publically but the Christian faith I ascribe to promotes equity, love, compassion for all... and some of the most wonderful outspoken social justice advocates in my life have been nuns. So glory and praise songs pop out of me now and then as do other spiritual type songs. Many wonderful influences and friends across many different belief systems and grew up in an atheist home (which is probably why I want to a Catholic College to rebel)

Thank you very much for the comment on "Devil Take That Woman"! I'm also more into power metal than thrash really, but it's fun to play more aggressive songs sometimes.

    Hey Catherine,
Thanks so much for your kind comments on my songs.

Yes, Baby Baby is a sweet little song. 😀

I agree that Waves definitely has that vibe. I started writing the lyrics and when it came time to pick up an instrument, the bass was the closest to me so I went with it. And, of course, once that bass line was in my head the organ naturally followed. 😀

Thanks for commenting on my imagery also. 😀 Just always working on making things clear, and surprising myself if possible. 😀

Thanks for your kind words for "Sometimes Love Waits" it was fun to do (except when I lost all the vocals in my DAW). The first verse has been with me for a few years, finally figured out how to add another one. Still needs some work.

I am also percussion challenged. Though I have a drum kit. Just have focused on guitar as my priority. I’m not sure the 24 can export individual tracks to a PC...so far, I’m trying to mix and master on the gadget.

  • @wimx52 1 week

Thanks for your kind thoughts. Song was written with vocals in mind so am hoping to release a vocal version if/when I can track down my elusive singer. All the best for the next couple of weeks.

Thx for your comments ! Unfortunately its reality! Glad i captured the feel.

  • @tiller2  1 week

Hey there, thanks for your insightful comments on my collab, "Cool Water." I learned something from how you described the song. And you're another Tascammer! I've got the Tascam DP-24, and feel very "not with it," compared to all the computer DAW users. I am still climbing the learning curve with the device; my limitations are really more inexperience with recording, etc., than from the gadget itself.

  • @scottlake 1 week

Thanks for your comment on Kraftec’s song that he let me sing on. I see you did a collab with him as well. Once I can listen I will.

Hi Catherine, thanks for your comments. Much appreciated. The instrument is actually a tenor guitar, four strings like a ukulele but with a guitar body and tuned differently. It's almost like a marriage between a four string tenor banjo and an acoustic guitar. Happy FAWMing!

  • @sjbatavia  1 week

Thanks for the kind words on "There's a Hole in the Ground". I've actually been thinking about changing the words to "And she thinks that I'm a keeper." I thought it seemed less sexist and better reflected the doubt and uncertainty that I'm trying to convey in the song. Any thoughts on that?

  • @dutch1967 1 week

Thanks for commenting on Country Singing Man. I’ve done a couple about songwriting now (this the only one I did for FAWM18 - I think) and I find there’s loads of similies (sp?) with life in general. When they say 3 is all you’ll ever need that is the same as when they ask why you drive the big car or own a dozen guitars. I dunno. Maybe I’m reading too much into my own stuff. Hahaha

  • @jorh 1 week

Thankyou for your kind comments, yeah I wanted to have a positive song on this one cause my songs have a tendency to slip into all our sadness haha

Thanks for commenting on my Gold song. To make matters worse with that TASCAM, I don't have the original power supply, so it fits even more loosely. You can bet after that little fiasco, I started turning the unit off every good take.

I hear you're doing Vivian. Wait, that sounded wrong. 😝 Liz's song, Vivian. I'm looking forward to hearing that.
