1st-time FAWMer. Learned about FAWM in 2016 but didn't get off the ground until this year.

Primary instrument is trumpet but I'm a rocker at heart! A "closet" songwriter and singer for many years. Have worked professionally as a pit-orchestra and "sideman" musician for musical theater and traveling shows for a number of years. Also a music educator at the university level as well as in a private studio (trumpet, piano, bass, guitar).

Everything for this FAWM is recorded using Cubasis on my Ipad with the Irig Pro interface. Instruments used are Taylor DN4 (yes the overdrive gtr on my demos is this acoustic running through the Amplitube app!), Roland FP-30 piano, Fender P-bass, and an Audio-Technica AT2010 microphone.

Just added the lyrics to the songs for you 😀 I put them under lyrics, as I don't have an email addy for you.
Feel free to repeat the earlier verses later to extend the song, and a guitar solo would be cool in the middle of 'Not Gonna Drown' 😀

Hi @tjeff How can I send you the lyrics for the songs ? I will put them on the song in the lyrics section for now 😀 Feel free to edit the structure, and if you need me to edit the lyrics, or write more, please just ask.
Piano ballad done - just starting on the rock one now.
My email is on my FAWM profile page 😀

A belated welcome to FAWM, @tjeff. 😀 You've done well!

Time is short no doubt, but are you open to a collaboration? I have a lyric that's pining for music.

Hey there - thanks so much for listening and for the wonderful comment on Soma Street... Yes, it is pretty amazing what technology can do! He's recorded vocals on his phone for both the songs we did, then I take those files into my DAW and add compression, reverb, and whatever and they sound fantastic.

So glad you commented because now I've discovered your music. I really enjoyed the three I checked out. I'll be back for more! Oh, and I highly recommend working with fearlessflight, because Liz is amazing. We did a song together last year - her lyrics and vocals just blew me away.

There's 2 that I wrote in the weekend skirmish that I'm not attached to the vague music ideas I had. 'Starting From Scratch' and 'The Only Home I Need' So if either of those works for you go for your life. 😀

Hello! Most of my lyrics already have music (my cold and an injured finger have prevented me form demos) but there are a couple that I haven't really committed anything for. Which one/s were you interested in?

You are very welcome, it was a pleasure to comment.

Hope your travels are going well, keep writing while you're away!

Hey Jeff, thanks for listening! Yes, you caught my 2+2+2+3 division of 9/8 for the "Rock Bottom" song... I really enjoy trying to set words to less common meters and do a lot of this during FAWM and 50/90.

I'm also glad you notice the mixes in my demos, it's one of the things I've really gotten better at over the last several years, but mostly by trial and error. I haven't added any plugins to Logic Pro X, but it does have presets for strings, brass and woodwinds--- surprisingly it didn't have anything specific for mandolin. In all cases though, I've done lot of experimenting and fiddling with various settings to try and get a sound I like. Compression is still the variable that gives me the most trouble.

I'll listen closely to your demos and see if I can come up with suggestions about the mix. Usually FAWM focuses on the _song_ because that's what's really the most important, and everyone has such a range of gear, but I personally value feedback regarding demos as well!
