Taylor Tay

progress: 16 winner!
location: Australia
website: twitter.com/taylorrtay
influences: Alt rock (Muse, Kaiser Chiefs, Ben Folds, Franz Ferdinand), Sixties/early seventies (Beatles, The Doors), some hip-hop, punk rock (from The Clash and the Sex Pistols to Green Day today), and many others.

Bio

16 year old from Adelaide who wants to hammer out a good 14 songs in Feb. Apparently this originally said 28 songs. That would be far too much considering how bad I am at this.

Songs with an asterisk (*) next to them are my favourites.

Challenges:
-Loteria: Card #23 "The Moon"
-Deb's Common First Verse - Completed "With A Kiss"

Planned Collaborations:
-The Collapse of Human Kind: http://fawm.org/forums/thread/299/
-Random collaboration with Greg Lines: http://fawm.org/fawmers/glines/
-Borrowing Errol's vocals at some stage
-Chris Adams' Epic Song: http://fawm.org/forums/thread/271/
-(Hopefully) hip-hop collaboration with G Slade.

Written some uke songs?? Quick, put the lyrics up while there's time and worry about the recordings later. 2 to go. Go! Go!
  •  Tim Fatchen 1 week ago
Three is possible. And if you've got it sketched, you can always post titles before everything shuts down. I've got a couple I might do that with tomorrow. BTW the lapetitekiwi lyrics make for great songs! Steal another!
  •  lapetitekiwi 1 week ago
    Do it!
I would be honoured, especially since it resonates with you!!
  •  Mal 1 week ago
If you got Google Chat, I'm malachi.mcleod@gmail.com on there.

So, I had this dream last night about people banging their head on their pianos, and leaping on guitars, an flinging themselves at drums, and I woke up thinking, "Gah, when is the last time I talked to Taylor about the Collapse of Human Kind?" Where do we stand on that? And did I ever respond to your email, because I can't remember, because I'm an idiot. o.O
  •  Tim Fatchen 1 week ago
More! More! You've got almost all of March 1st before it's midnight on the 28 Feb at IDL!!!
  •  Errol 1 week ago
YAY! I'm glad you liked it! I did have fun! I was just worried you ASKED me to do something, and then I took it a completely different way. I blame it on my inability to read email. big_smile Thanks Taylor!
  •  Tim Fatchen 2 weeks ago
    Going well Taylor, rock on!
  •  rashbre 3 weeks ago
I had a crack at that Loteria thing. Great fun. Mine was La Dama.
  • Brianna Rose 3 weeks ago

  • EMC 1 month ago
Sounds great! I'm goign to start brainstorming lyrics...I'm used to spoofing stuff for things at school so this is going to be a fun challenge.
  • EMC 1 month ago
I like the beat! maybe g slade and I can split up and each do a verse? let me know and if you want me to give it a shot, then email me the beat so I can record to it. eviani@gmail.com
  •  G Slade 1 month ago
Thanks for the info..I'll work on something to accompany the beat today and work and try to write some lyrics for ya.... Are you wanting a collaborator to perform the lyrics, or just write them for you to perform?
  •  G Slade 1 month ago
I definitely like the direction of the beat. The brass type sounds on the hook are tight....if you still need a collaborator, I'll see about writing some lyrics. also, if you can tell me the BpM and the chords used, then maybe I can through some ideas towards your beat for you.

Thanks Taylor T, I sometimes improvise as this, most often the grammar gets right sometimes not, still I'm thankful for your feedback!
  •  Mal 1 month ago
Coolbeans. I'll be looking for the demo in my email. smile
  •  Tim Fatchen 1 month ago
Hi Taylor. Don't expect to see anything from me till halfway through: writing block plus lots of exhausting physical labour currently.
  •  Halfpenny Orchestra 1 month ago
TaySquared (Can I call you TaySquared?), thanks for signing up for Halfpenny Orchestra’s Loteria Challenge. You have been dealt: La Luna (The Moon, No. 23). In the description of your song, please include the subject of the card and its number. Also, please include loteria as a tag. Have fun!
  •  Greg Lines 1 month ago
Hey Taylor - seems I'm your random collab partner!

Drop me a line at glines1972@googlemail.com and we can get the ball rolling!

    cheers
  •  Errol 1 month ago
Hey, by all means, borrow my voice. That's the easiest thing for me to lend out. big_smile
  •  Errol 1 month ago
Hey Taylor, just listened to your song from the www thread about... earth, fire and sun... or whatever. big_smile

You were mentioning about being worried about singing, and after listening to you, you only need practice... that's all. You were fine!

What's really hard, I find, is hitting the note right on. And so I would have to sing a track over and over again trying to make sure I hit the notes right on. It's easier, however, if I sing the same phrase over and over until I get it right. big_smile

Sounds like you're getting quite excited for FAWM! Look at you go, writing songs already. That's great!
  • Wash Away 1 month ago
Based on your influences, we apparently like some of the same music

  •  isaac quatorze 1 month ago
hey Taylor! thought i'd reply to you off-forum... i do highly recommend Brian Epstein's biography, but i suggest you read the older one by Ray Coleman, not the newer one by Deborah Geller... the Coleman book is a LOT less fluffy, shows Brian's very nasty and ruthless side.... at this point, I'm about 80 pages from his death, and really just shake my head at his behaviour on almost every page. in the meantime, enjoy the beatles behind-the-songs book!
