Influences: Ben Folds, anything Damon Albarn has been involved in, Muse, the Beatles, the wonderful singer-songwriters who contribute to FAWM each year.
UPDATE: My demos are back online, but my internet access is very poorly at the moment. I can visit the forums and comment on lyrics but listening is a difficulty and will remain so for a while. I will try my best to find an opportunity to do some in depth listening soon!
As for more demos: I'm trying but a member of my household is on night shift til this Friday (23rd) so I won't be doing a lot of singing til after then.
I live in Adelaide, a relatively small city in a relatively small country. I write all sorts of things, but I would say 'electronic rock' and 'piano rock' would be enough to describe most of my songs.
This is my fourth FAWM. This website - not just the challenge itself, but the community - has done wonders for my musical ability.
Samplings of my work from FAWMs and 50/90s past is available here:

I left the nice comments because I enjoyed your songs. Warning about my songs is that the sound quality is appalling a lot of the time - laptop microphone
@miltz Mar 2
Thanks for the nice comment on Let's Fall Apart.
@marvsmooth Mar 2
A great set of tunes. Brilliant.
@tawalker Feb 28
Thanks for your kind comments on "Nearly Run" - much appreciated! I just have to lob this one more song under the stone door tonight, before it crashes shut... good luck!
@jennsings Feb 27
Thanks for checking out the #morph3 chain! Interesting that you say you've never heard someone use existing tracks in a morph. I did it that was last year too. Perhaps I am the only one. I haven't listened to many. I don't feel that I am "gifted" enough to try to emulate things to tweak by only 50%. Anyway ---> I thought it was very interesting that my simple, "Thunder, Lightning, Fire, Ice" lyric was what ended up carrying on through the chain!! Thanks for playing!
@cts Feb 24
And it's up, amigo.
@cts Feb 24
I'm going to get to it this afternoon. Work has been hectic, but I'll fulfill my obligations!
@toms Feb 22
"Pile Driver" did not deserve so many words, or so nice.
@jamkar Feb 22
Thank you kindly for your comments on 'Melting Man'. I have delved into using Native Instruments 'Komplete' lately, and in this mix I ran some harp samples on the front, and ended with some synth things at the end. I think it was Abbey Road drums on that one. Thanks again, and keep writing!
@toms Feb 22
I suspect when people think of Brechtian music (as opposed to his plays like Mother Courage) they are really thinking about Kurt Weill. The two did the Three Penny Opera (and some other things) in Germany just before Hitler came to power. He was quite left. But, as I said, I think the Brechtian people sometimes hear in music is not the politics but the sound, the music, and that's usually from his collaborators, I think. I could be wrong.
@adforperu Feb 21
Well, your whiney comment on the whiney thread has lead me here =P First time I spotted your name pop up was on that forum, and I remember liking your stuff last year (or the year before?) so your whine will lead to more comments (later or tomorrow).. so it was worth whining
@wander Feb 17
Thank you for your kind and expansive comment on 'The day of the apocalypse'!
@jdsmith22 Feb 16
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it. The verses are A-D-E, with the last line ("You run off before I make you mine") is A-D-A. There's a little E before the chorus, which is D-A-E, D-E-A, D-A-E, D-E-A. The bridge is the same progression as the verse.
@klaus Feb 11
Hello! Some audicious selfpromotion here now: Got a dropbox now and the demos should stream just fine. I've also updated my bio and added three other awesome songs. Have a listen if you dare!
And dear Tim! You should really post more songs. The three here are really good so don't stop now.
@radioovermoscow Feb 10
Mixing Gary Numan with NiN is my life goal! Ha. The ending was a mess around, of course...
@rbarreda Feb 8
Hi Taylor, wanted to say thanks for stopping by to comment on my lyrics. I actually have a demo up finally from that 4th skirmish if you want to give it a listen.
@negasi Feb 7
Well I don't know what else it lets you do, but what I do is just put a bunch of loops in. I've already mixed some pretty weird genres together, and there horizon is free!
@jennsings Feb 6
Posted. I'm off the hook!
@jennsings Feb 6
@arthurrossi Feb 4
I would like to thank you very, very much for your fantastic comment on "Not enough"! Thank you so much...
@lightningstef Feb 4
Thanks for the kind words! Means a lot I'm currently at work, but I'll be having a good ol' listening session later on!
@klaus Feb 4
I like everything you do it seems. Im watchlisting you.
@keaton Feb 3
I like that of the three songs of yours I've heard they all sound similar enough so that they are distinctly your songs without being too similar. They're fun. Nice job.
@wille Feb 3
I think it has to do with that I have bought a new pre-amp (ProSonus TubePRE) that have given a lot of color to my guiar and bass in a way that I can play them "lower" and still have them sound good. That might be it
@wille Feb 3
What do you by "quiet mixes"? I would call the Pig Fur song jangly and busy. What are you hearing that I am not?
@wille Feb 3
Thanks so much for your comments And yes, you're right - this is, the third time I have used pigs as a unifying thing. (First time was in 2008 with the first ever feast, Pigfeast.) I don't know why
@kiwafruit Feb 3
Hey Taylor Looking forward to hearing your tunes too! Would be awesome if you could make it out to a show, I'm starting to freak out no one is going to come... >.< hahaha
@katiejorobinson Feb 2
Thank you very much! I had never listened to her, but I'll be sure to. & I will be tuning it up, for sure.
You're from Australia, have you heard of An Horse?
@negasi Feb 2
Oh, it will be done, with style, WITH STYLE!
@caseewilson Feb 1
Thanks for your comment Much appreciated, and have a Happy Fawm!
@wille Feb 1
I wrote the Charlie Cheney song more or less in one sitting after I woke up from a dream which was exactly what went into the song. So not too long, twenty minutes or so, recording included. But I do like it myself
Oh, and great to see you back
@cts Jan 31
Taylor - in the immortal words of Chuck D and Public Enemy; "Don't believe the hype".
