Hi, I'm Gabrielle! What I write is closest to filk, otherwise known as fantasy, sci-fi, and convention music. I was alerted to this site by other filkers in 2014, and it sounded like fun. Year 4 it is! Library Science and Art History Master's graduate here, with several fantasy novels in the works. If you want to get in touch with me 'cause something looks nifty, or you have a question unrelated to my work, feel free to send me a message. I like meeting new people. Good luck everyone!

    Thanks, no worries. Will do.

  • @thebschip Feb 18

Thanks for listening and commenting!! I am behind on everything; sorry it took so long to say thanks. Look forward to your other two tunes I haven't been able to check out yet!

  • @philkmills  Feb 13

Thanks for the comment on Kittens. I'm glad someone realized that the "burger" bit wasn't completely random. 😀

  • @barbara  Feb 13

Hi Gabrielle! Thank you very much for sharing your kind comments on a couple of my songs today. I'm glad to have listened to your demo so I now have a voice to go with your wonderful profile illustration. 🙂

  • @peteralway  Feb 9

Refering to SwanDragon: Now I'm thinking that the mechanical noises would make sense if you imagined then made by a dancing clockwork robot on top of the music box!

  • @pinekoan  Feb 8

Thanks for your comment on " If The Year Were A Day" ...much appreciated. I have posted a demo if you care to give a listen. Thanks again.

  • @tamsnumber4  Feb 7

Thanks for listening to my song "Nightmare of a Dream", I appreciate it!

  • @meriamber  Feb 7

Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my song 😁 I'm still developing production skillz 😝 but I really enjoy it! So it means a lot that you think they're solid!

  • @caterwauler  Feb 4

I listened to your voice and edited my comment. 😀

  • @jamkar  Feb 4

Sure Gabrielle, email works for me!

  • @jamkar  Feb 3

Hi collab partner! How would you like to proceed?

  • @readerwriterpoet Feb 3

@tawny249 Thank you so much for your comment, friend! <3 Yeah, the rhythm probably doesn't seem too apparent from the lyrics, but I hope it'll be really clear once I get the thing recorded!

I'm very glad you find it meaningful and like the imagery (that's where a lot of the strength in my poetry lies, I think). I put a helluva lot of time into this song, and I'm honestly a little nervous I won't be able to top it for the rest of FAWM. 🙈 But I'm sure that'll mean a bunch of silly things, which is necessary to balance out all the heaviness. Again, thank you so much! <3

  • @caterwauler  Feb 3

Thank you for your lovely comment!

  • @leslie  Feb 2

Thanks for listening, Gabrielle! Yes, it's very chorus-heavy. Mainly because this is FAWM and that was how the song wrote itself *knowing* this is FAWM. Polishing is for later. ; )

  • @wildnettle Feb 1

Hi! Thanks for the wonderful note. <3 I hope that FAWM provides something of a distraction,

On the bright side, I'm so stressed by everything else that I'm barely nervous about FAWM at all! 😉

  • @ericdistad  Jan 31

    Have a great FAWM Gabrielle!

  • @leslie  Jan 31

Good luck, Gabrielle! Have an excellent FAWM.

  • @meriamber  Jan 30

Hiya! I'm stoked you dig my stuff 😁 I call it geek pop as it's more pop than rap, but it's somewhere within that geeky music realm in which filk lives! I might actually do something filkier for this year's FAWM as I think a more acoustic vibe will really suit the Grimm EP idea I'm working with... It's just so hard to resist synths 😝

Looking forward to hear what you create!!

  • @cathymc  Jan 30

    Found you back 😀

  • @oddaustin Jan 30

    Filk. Cool.

  • @clioem  Jan 29

    Hahahaha 😁
    You'll do amazing I'm 100% sure!

  • @thetau  Jan 29

Hello again Gabrielle.. back again this year you are.
May the FAWM be with you
    Russ 😀

  • @clioem  Jan 29

YESSS you do write too, I knew it!

  • @chipwithrow  Jan 29

Hello from Fort Myers, right up the road! I listened to a few of your songs on Soundcloud - lovely voice. Reminds me of some of the Celtic/Irish music my daughter enjoys - she's an aspiring singer.
Looking forward to hearing what you do this FAWM!

  • @caterwauler  Jan 29

Hello, thanks for your kind words! Glad to meet you!
Good luck to you too ; hope you have a great FAWM. 😀

  • @nancyrost  Jan 29

Hi, Gabrielle, yes - I'm on the moderating team and take care of posting the weekly challenges. It sounds like you have a lot of creative irons in the fire! I look forward to hearing what you do this year.

  • @metalfoot  Jan 29

Thanks! I didn't think it was that obscure; seemed self-evident every time I looked at my foot. LOL. Anyway, yeah, a lot of instruments = more fun. Not going to say I'm proficient at any of them! Have a great FAWM!

  • @jaegerin  Jan 28

Hey there! Here's to a great FAWM!
