Hah, thanks for the feedback Mike! Lots of dependence on loops in my stuff this year, I don't have much time this month so I'm only doing the guitar work myself. I've done some editing of drum loops, but in most cases the rhythm sections are canned loops, and the rhythm guitar in the 'porno rock' section was also a loop but the lead was live.

Having said that, when I am looking for a specific rhythm or change up, I usually snag individual audio samples of separate drum or cymbal hits and build my rhythm as a multitrack. I tweaked a few loops in the 'piano roll' editor, like the analog drum machine you hear in the 6/8 section of 3040, but in most cases I prefer manipulating audio with digital splicing, cross-fades, etc.

Also, the end of Temporal Distortion is around a dozen layers deep - 4-5 guitar tracks plus random samples, from internet or Apple Loops, just to create the chaotic climax I was going for.

Glad you like my songs, Mikey! "That Something's You" was recorded with my new (well, used) Crate half-stack. Finally got a new amp after my old one was stolen. I record everything dry and don't use any plug-ins or effects. Keeps the demo-ing quick, plus I still don't know what I'm doing. Just trying to get stuff written now without worrying about production. Keep up your rockin' tunes, buddy! \m/

Fucking-A Mike, you're on fire this year! I'm really glad to see so many songs and just gave a quick listen to the 5 I noticed when I checked in.

I'm really trying to give constructive criticism this year, I know I get annoyed when I just get comments like "great song" instead of getting honest and insightful feedback from a listener's perspective, but it's tough - you're a gifted songwriter and I'm a huge fan.

Anyway, I hope the few critical comments I was able to come up with are received in that spirit!
