#8 FAWM for me in 2018 (I swear this is a good thing)

last year I got consumed in my writing during fawm.. dark places.. trying to find the light. it even carried itself months after fawm was over. it was crazy.. then I stopped

I've been a bit off ever since.. (though I was grateful for the reprieve) and I keep thinking of that lyric-art challenge I set out to do last fawm (but didn't) and so I'm glad February is back.. I've been counting down

stay

*****

the backdrop on me:
I'm not a musician, and I don't sing. I'm an artist of paint and words...probably inspired by you. I tend to reach states of euphoria when exploring forests and chasing sunsets.

I've been absolutely humbled and amazed at what the musicians here on fawm have come up with when breathing life into my lyrics. I've somehow stumbled into the graces of some talented musicians since starting fawm, that have made amazing demos out of the abstract stories in my head. It has encouraged me to keep pushing the limits in my writing and in my creativity pursuits. Thank you for that privilege...you know who you are.

USE OF MY LYRICS: if any of my lyrics resonate with you and you want to put them to music...please let me know - and come say hi. : ) If a demo is made, go ahead and post it and link me as the collab. If a demo has already been done by another musician, don't let that hold you back from doing your own.

As for making them available to the general public in any form..that's discussed on an individual basis....so it stays here on FAWM unless otherwise discussed. : )

Also.. I'm no writing expert by any means.. but I get sad if my work is heavily rearranged or changed, especially the meaning. I understand that in order to fit the technicalities of music.. sometimes changing is what's needed..so if something isn't working.. let me know - lets work it together.

Well you can just send them to me... I'm in awe of people who can paint. I can draw stick men. πŸ˜‰

  • @alphanerg 20 hours

hmmm i thought maybe there was some alternate meaning to the ice cream song that i just didn't get. You should just say there is anyway and go with it πŸ˜€

  • @zecoop  20 hours

I am feeling much better and am so glad. Thank you for asking. I want to see this paintings that you do when my music is playing. I'll keep an eye out on Instagram. πŸ˜€

  • @alphanerg 20 hours

Thank you so much for all of your comments and listening! LOL @ Pit of Misery, don't worry i wouldn't want to listen to that one either. What was i thinking?

  • @zecoop  20 hours

You.... are just wonderful. I was going to say awesome (which also fits, but...) Thank you for all the incredibly nice comments and for giving the songs so much of your time. πŸ˜€

  • @metalfoot  2 days

That *is* really interesting that part of what I came up with is part of what you were hearing because that, um, never happens. Usually my collaborators are like "where on earth did you come up with that musical idea, because that bears no resemblance to what I was thinking!" Thanks again for letting me do this. I love your lyrical talents!

  • @ihelen 2 days

Thank you for commenting on my song! Hope your day is going well. πŸ˜€

  • @iwilleatyou 2 days

Haha...i was being over the top/facetious with my Queen, Jaco comment. I do admit though fawm is a bit overwhelming this year (in a good way). It's my first time doing multiple collabs.

  • @oldlostjohn  2 days

I am amazed that anyone can come up with lyrics like those in such in a limited time and I don't feel like I wanna change a thing. And I can hear melody and rhythm as I read them.

  • @scubed  3 days

Thanks so much for your lovely comment on my skirmish song!

  • @oldlostjohn  3 days

    Oh I'm fine, no worries.
It's a beautiful and touching story. I'd be honoured.

  • @oldlostjohn  3 days

Hi Sue, and thanks for your kind comments. Which is the song of yours you referred to? Winter River? You want me to have a go at it?

  • @iwilleatyou 4 days

When you say write one together do you mean giving me musical ideas? Cause if someone asks me to do Bohemian Rhapsody style vocals with thunderous Neil Pert drum solos and Jaco Pastorius bass riffs and add a whole symphony bridge...well..... I'd say sorry but I have to polish my nails or something. But if you want a hand clap than I'M ALL YOURS.

  • @iwilleatyou 4 days

What...the...fook???? Well aaaaaaaaalllrighty then....I have some catching up to do with you. I'll do one and be on my way. I'm just off of work and HUNGRY.

  • @haim  5 days

    it's my pleasure.

  • @haim  5 days

sue thank you for your pleasant comment on my skirmish song "River", I'm glad you like my voice, you are quite a writer I love the way you write. very talented person, I also saw some paintings on your facebook page, did you draw them?

  • @musicsongwriter 5 days

Thank you Sue for your kind comment. I'll be back soon.

Thanks for the comment on Winter River! Rain isn't my favorite either, but it sure fits the mood I'm in today.

  • @aprilm  5 days

Thank you so much for your lovely comment on Winter River. πŸ˜€

  • @adforperu  5 days

Oh, just 14? Come on Sue, you've got some catching up to do...

  • @adforperu  6 days

16! Christ, I've got some catching up to do, will get on it soon πŸ˜€

  • @metalfoot  6 days

And thank you for all the amazing comments earlier today. Wow. You're too kind.

  • @metalfoot  6 days

You are probably right. The melody of the first couple verses is bland, in retrospect, and needs either rewriting or harmonies to rescue it. Thanks for the input on "I saw your face". πŸ˜€

  • @max  6 days

Wowzers, thank you so much for listening to them all AND leaving comments. That really means the world plus moon for me.
    Thank you light chaser!

  • @iwilleatyou 1 week

Oh c'mon it's not that bad. It has a happy ending.

  • @majordanby  1 week

Thanks for listening to Be Good Be Else Be Gone. This is the first full song I’ve written in a longtime and it came from nowhere. I initially found the chords, whilst recording them for reference I ad libbed the words. Dan’s a fan of Radiohead, I’m not really so not sure what I was thinking. The muse obviously has his/her reasons. (Karl).

Thank you very much for the comment on "Sushi Sunday"! Haha, I will sure not hold back on the sushi.

wow! you've been busy sue.. i need to get my butt into gear!

  • @johncrossman  1 week

There is an occasionally invoked bit of nonsense I call the "Bruce Springsteen ruling" wherein if a guy from New Jersey can drawl like that, then all bets are off for the rest of us. πŸ˜€ Thanks for the listens!

  • @acousticmaddie  1 week

Thanks for your kind comment on SIlence with his lies.

  • @majordanby  1 week

Yep, it’s a song about human kindness disguised as a love song. Glad you got the hidden meaning; there usually isn’t one x

  • @iwilleatyou 1 week

You know it's funny because I feel more comfortable singing with an English accent. I feel like I sound better too. It flows naturally so it's second nature to me. This is going to sound crazy but when I talk to myself it's always in an English accent. Yup....I'm....psycho. I think I'm possessed by a bloodline, their all Eurpoean.

  • @max  1 week

So glad you like it. Me? I'm not sure yet after working on it for 7 hours straight. But it feels good, I have to revisit it a few times the next couple of days the make sure the feeling was correct. But again thank you so much. It's been a real pleasure working with those lyrics.

Awww, thank you Sue for the most kind commenting on two of my songs. Smiling at "warmup is taking longer" with 4 already on the board πŸ˜€

  • @pipewrench67 1 week

Is that sarcasm, because if you read it with a sarcastic time, it's pretty funny ( total disclosure, I read everything with a sarcastic tone).

  • @max  2 weeks

Thanks for dropping by and giving "Sweat 'n' Neat" a listen. The CBGB's compliment really makes my day. YES! Time to make me some coffee now, sit down, take a break from FAWM and let the sweetest comment so far sink in for a while. THANKS!

  • @iwilleatyou 2 weeks

Ah! That sounds awesome! Nina Hagen talks about sending her daughter to a school that focuses on teaching kids whatever they choose. So if they pick an instrument, they study music. If they pick up tools, they learn construction and design or repair etc.
Just think what society would be like today if we all did what we love doing. But I guess someone has to do the dirty work right? Here come the robots.

  • @iwilleatyou 2 weeks

Blue man group as in the Vegas act or? I'm missing the correlation to my song. Sorry...I have wine in my system so thinking is out of the question.

  • @iwilleatyou 2 weeks
