Artist Bio

Influences:   Way too many to mention ... But singer-songwriters of the past and present, ranging from John Denver and Paul Simon to Kina Grannis, Christina Perri, and Jason Mraz. Add to that a love of most musical genres, and my high school music teachers for being so supportive and caring.

This marks my sixth time participating in FAWM, barely meeting the goal the first time around, and comfortably reaching it on the second and third try, and more than doubling the goal for year four. Last year I slowed down, comfortably finishing.

The last six months has seen a sharp reduction in song output, and my schedule is very tight this year, so I'm just playing it by ear. Whether the muse grants me one or fourteen or a hundred, I'll bless my good fortune.

My music is an Americana blending of the heart of country, storytelling of folk and the energy of pop. As a multiinstrumentalist, when time permits, I may dress up the occasional song, but many will likely be solo performances.

Best of luck to me fellow fawmers. I'll be listening.

Footnote:

Feel free to be constructive rather than kind. The quality is going to vary, as will the effort I put into the demos.

Thank you very much for your kinds words on my songs. "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" is a little known slasher movie. It was made, the company that was going to release it folded then it was bought by The Weinstein Company and they shelved it because they felt it wouldn't do well. Bootlegs circulated for years (that was how I saw it). It eventually got a proper release, which I gladly paid to buy and then a few years ago it had a limited run in theaters. It's a great summer slasher movie, we watch it at least once a year. I highly recommend it.

Hi Stuart and good to see you back on campus.

Hi, Stuart! Thanks for the comments - both the compliments and the helpful observation - on my song "Gut Check!" I think the disjointed nature probably came from how static I made the guitar rhythm on the verses. You can pare down texture *or* rhythm, but seldom both at the same time. And frankly I did it because I'm not a skilled guitarist and just wanted something I could get a clean take on. 😁
