Bio

Always involved in, and influenced by music, I began college (a while ago) as a jazz and French Horn performance major. Only recently have I begun playing guitar...however, I take weekly lessons, and am relatively serious. Have begun a bit of Mandolin as well. New to song writing, and figured FAWM would be a great way to rip the band-aid off!

Hey - any progress with our collab? I'm not pressuring you, in fact I'll be pulling my hair out trying to get my part done. Just don't want to let you down if you've got your bit and need me to add mine.
  •  stewbalm 3 months ago
OK, I think I may have figured out how to record a bit better...wrote a good one this morning, and will wait until I get a chance to do a better recording tomorrow. No, not a valentine song...gonna lay off the chocolate sauce this year!

    Stew,
I have lyrics for you. Dark and serious. Could become the theme song for a children's rescue center started by a professional boxer. Send me your e-mail. Mine is mark@marklberry.com
    Cheers, marklberry

Ah - please don't email me, my email account overflowing. We can set up a dropbox space or something.

I've been using Music Studio for iPad. I have garage band, too...but I think that MS will export files in midi format? I'll check.
  •  brownium 3 months ago
What do you use for recording software? I can use GarageBand, Logic, Audacity, or anything else that's free on any OS. If we can share the files in the native format, it gives us a lot more flexibility in working with each others ideas. If we have to use mp3, that'll work.

    Stew,
You're right, I misread the sched. I did find my true collaboration pairing, but I also agree, let's try one. I'm a lyric writer and the songs stem from stories. I'll send you some prose for inspiration, and the rough draft to some lyrics and see if you can relate to them with music. Will probably be a week from now when I can get to this. Looking forward to it though.
    Cheers, marklberry

Hey man - I'm good with your suggestion - you write something, as far as you want, send it to me and I'll see what more I can do with it. Did I understand that correctly?
  •  brownium 3 months ago
Yo, Cap'n - looks like we're linked up on the "random collaboration" board. How would you like to approach it? You want to write music, and I write lyrics? Other way around? You want to write something to completion, and have me add some instrumentals? (I can eek a sound out of flute, cello, guitar, bass, piano). I don't usually write collaboratively, so I'm not sure the best approach.
  •  stewbalm 3 months ago
@marklberry Thanks for the feedback!! Looking forward to a collaboration!! For sure. I just posted song two. I'll get in touch tomorrow to see how you want to proceed!
