Artist Bio

Influences:   More musical influences than I have hairs on my head, which = too many to count, let alone name.

My loves? God, people and anything that keeps me creating. My flava? what I'd call eclectic soul. What drives me? Making people smile, letting them know the power and love that we're made of, and how loved we are. Why am I here? Because a good stretchin' is good for the health. Let's stretch and play.

  • @treble  Mar 12

  • @fonte  Mar 11

Thanks for your listens and comments. I had a listen to your stuff and I love your voice! So much soul!! Also, great comment on stay about the kick, I totally agree and subsequently tamed that a bit but not reposted πŸ˜€ I wish you had more of your vocals up here!

    Hey Rainee,
Well, this may be a luckier day than some others. I happen to be blind. πŸ˜€
    So, ask away.

As far as sound proofing goes, I record in my garage. It is not soundproof, but there is some unconventional sound treatment. That basically means you want a room that's not full of reflections off the walls. So, load up your music room with carpet, and a couch, and a book shelf full of books, and any nonreflective surfaces you can think of. As long as the walls aren't flat and square and facing each other, you'll be in better shape.
Of course, you can feel free to spend money on acoustic treatment, but you shouldn't let the lack of it stop you from doing something.
My garage studio has carpet, a futon, some shelves with basic garage storage junk on them, my desk with my computer and stuff, my drums, and a few random foam pieces on the walls. It is relatively quiet, and relatively dry sounding, usually, as long as noone is vacuuming inside, or as long as the neighbors aren't doing

    Hey Rainee,

Well, I'm in Southern California, so I went to my nearest echoey underpass and gathered all the homeless people around. πŸ˜€

    Just kidding.
    I have samples from IWantThatSound.com
I think the ones I used were from the boots and claps collection.

I use Reaper. So I grabbed a few different clap samples and a sample called something like "case thump" and I loaded them in to the Reaper sampler 5000 which puts the samples on to keys of my midi keyboard.
Then I just played the parts for a few measures and quantized and then cut and pasted what I needed through out the song.

You might hear that toward the end of the song I was not really in sync with the beat. That was because I miscalculated how long the song was. So when I was playing the guitar part I ran out of percussion track and was just playing, rather sloppily, to the click.

Oh, forgot to mention that i added some live tambourine too.

I listened to your tracks and it sounds like maybe you're just recording on your ph

Hey Rainee, Thanks so much for commenting on my songs!
Yes, "Must Be Dreaming" made me think of Paul Simon. I wrote it after listening to a song by Traveler I think. That's kindof where the piano ine came from.
    πŸ˜€ Thanks!

  • @mattfoole Mar 2

    80s forever!!!

  • @tuneslayer2018  Mar 2

Thank you for commenting on my songs! I'm glad you enjoyed them.

  • @sunnymae  Feb 25

    Hey Squeak Mouse!
I'm so glad you were digging on Among the Roses. it was a blessing for me to receive that song. The Tuning I used is drop C
CGDGBD With a 5 string partial capo on the 5th fret. Leave the low C open and tune often!

  • @s7even Feb 13

Hello! You commented on a song that I wrote β€œPraying For a Dream” and I just wanted you to know it was put to music Incase you wanted to check it out.

  • @sunnymae  Feb 9

Hey Sweetness.. so glad you likey my tune House of crumbles. And shades of Phoebe...wow! She was my girl. I'm honored.

  • @haim  Feb 8

Hi.. Thank you for the sweet comment on my song "The end of the world".

  • @dannen Feb 7

In Electric Car Blues there were long pauses before the hook, ... In My Car. The rest of it hasn't had time to be seated in my brain comfortably yet. Thanks for your input.

  • @jinx Feb 7

Hey, thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment! It made me smile to know you related to my bio too πŸ˜€

  • @dannen Feb 6

Thanks for your comment on the Electric Car Blues. Structurally, do you mean the crooked timing? I'm interested in your input.

  • @treble  Feb 6

Thanks so much for your kind words about my skirmish song I Never Saw it Coming! This is my first FAWM and the feedback means a lot to me.

  • @asladders Feb 5

Hi! Nice of you to comment on my song Careless Wave. I played a Taylor acoustic, mid-size (I am not sure of the style exactly, but it's not a dreadnought) with some bright, bronze medium gauge strings. Thanks for taking a listen!

  • @dannen Feb 5

Thank you for your kind words on my songs. They were fun to write.

  • @berni1954  Feb 5

Hi Rainee thanks for giving my Old man and his Dog an outing πŸ˜€ . The instrument in question is indeed a Seagull Merlin

  • @mmmmarcus  Feb 5

Thanks a lot for the nice comments on my tracks!

Regarding "Into The Deep" I really intended that one as an instrumental, had such a post rock vibe when writing it so I'm not sure about putting any vocals on top of it.

  • @sunnymae  Feb 5

    Hey Squeak!!
So nice to see you back here my friend. Going to go read some of your lyrics now. Thanks for dropping by. Have lots of fun this month.

  • @cleanshoes Feb 5

Thanks so much for your kind comments on my first FAWM song!

Thanks for the comment on "I'm On Fire". I also agree that I could do more with the song outside of Skirmishing... and I probably will! 😁

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 2

Oh! I trust your musical sensibility! I could imagine different ways as I wrote it. Would love to hear your ideas! Go for it!

  • @fearlessflight2014  Feb 2
