Artist Bio

Influences:   More musical influences than I have hairs on my head, which = too many to count, let alone name.

My loves? God, people and anything that keeps me creating. My flava? what I'd call eclectic soul. What drives me? Making people smile, letting them know the power and love that we're made of, and how loved we are. Why am I here? Because a good stretchin' is good for the health. Let's stretch and play.

I think they could help you in the50$ budget category

  • @audrey  Mar 20

Thank you so much for your kind comment on my and Cindy's song "Silver Anniversary". As for "Rocky Shores", I can't take credit for hummingbear's wonderful lyrics, but I'm currently writing music for them. Unfortunately, I didn't read these lyrics until after Feb 28th, and I'm a slow songwriter, but I should have something to post soon. Oh, and thank you also for your encouragement. Next FAWM I WILL try a skirmish. This is only my 2nd FAWM, and Cindy was my first collaborator, so you see I move rather slowly, but I love writing songs, so I don't care. I'm having fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • @jwhanberry  Mar 20

"Geek Alert" is not for everyone's taste. That was a bunch of ideas I was exposed to at music school in the 80's. I wanted to try them out so I did. The sampling was from a FAWM challenge. Fun stuff. I've got lots of samples left over for another time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • @jwhanberry  Mar 20

Thanks for listening to "Ain't Got Time". That tune was born out of frustration with another demo that was taking way too long. The style was what expressed my feelings. It was a very immediate thing.

  • @musicsongwriter Mar 19

Thank you Rainee, I sent you email.

  • @musicsongwriter Mar 19

Hi Rainee, I can't see your email address on your profile but I can connect with you via soundcloud if it's good for you. Please let me know.
    Thank you,

  • @musicsongwriter Mar 18

Hi Rainee, thank you, will do. Soundcloud is ok for me. Bandcamp is just my favourite site but I'm happy to use either or both. If I come up with the melody and rough vocals would you be happy to sing? I don't have good voice for posting demos. Alternatively I can ask one of my collaborators to sing it if you prefer. Anyway, I'll be in touch.

  • @mattblick  Mar 18

You can get garageband for the iPhone which would allow you to record the voice and keys separately and get some er ... separation - if you're playing keys through the amp you could put the iPhone in front of the amp 6 -12 inches away from the speaker. The finger noise comes directly from the keys so if you turn the keyboard or amp up that sound will be lessened

  • @mattblick  Mar 18

OK I'm guessing your iPhone was on the keyboard? I would try to turn the keyboard up louder and put the phone on something nearer your voice as a first step.

What program are you using to record?

  • @metalfoot  Mar 12

Yes, those merlins are addictive little instruments, aren't they? So much fun and so easy to play. Pleasantly impressed/surprised that the merlin made you think of me (except that I suppose I'm probably the most frequent user of said instrument on FAWM). Glad to see you're still around here! ๐Ÿ˜€
PS: I know what you mean about instrument lust. There's always that one more instrument that makes me say, "wouldn't it be nice if..."
PPS: Really glad you liked "Lost socks". That is one of my fave tracks of FAWM just because it was so nice to work with Jessica and with my kids. 3-way collabs are always fun.

  • @gvgeis Mar 7

Thanks for your listen and comment on Little Star! Although it's done in a classical style, any similarity to specific pieces is coincidental and on the part of my subconscious. ๐Ÿ˜ The exception is the final section, which is of course a deliberate minor mode reworking of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". Random factoid: as far as I know, that melody originates as a French folk song, and is at least as old as the latter half of the eighteenth century. There you have it! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @marthie Mar 5

Squeekmouse thank you for the roar on my page ๐Ÿคฃ

  • @dutch1967 Mar 4

Thanks for your great comment on Dream Your Life. Made my day!!

  • @richard Mar 3

Hey! Thank you for those lovely notes you dropped on a couple of my songs. I actually wrote a few more but forgot to put them up. I'll hopefully put more up next year. I'll let you know when the full versions are done an send you a copy. Now I need to listen to your songs too! ๐Ÿ˜

  • @wacha Mar 2

Thank you very much for the feedback on "Swimming Up River" I will most likely be tweaking the lyrics some as time goes on. I really appreciate the suggestion on the chorus.

  • @paulharrison  Mar 1

Thanks for your comment on San Francisco! For me, a key part was realizing (in the last verse) that I, too, was part of the scene that would look odd to some. Anyway, if you do write something, I'd love to hear where you go with it. Thanks again!

  • @cindyrella  Feb 27

Thanks and I found Thorpe on Amazon ๐Ÿ˜€ https://www.amazon.com/Thorpe-Mary-Du...

Hey I totally totally LOVE it !!!! Such a great upbeat jazzy groove and seductive feel to the vocal delivery!!!! Thank you so much!! I hope people will come back and take a listen!!!!

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 26

You really aren't missing much! But for me with my iPhone and iPad during fawm I have to daily clear out the memory history and often restart the device then to get things to play as the memory gets clogged up!
You had mentioned you did a demo for one of my lyrics - did you add that ?

  • @sherrycanary  Feb 24

Thanks for stopping by. When you time, come listen to one of mine .
Can't really hear me by just reading a verse ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 24

I added you as a collaborator do you can post it!!!

  • @boyatheart  Feb 23

Hugs in return from an Australian fan!

  • @timfatchen  Feb 20

There's a switch or a button somewhere on your soundcloud songs, in the soundcloud page, that enables downloads (not just streaming). I've just gone into my account and some are set to download, some arent', and I can't find how to do it!

  • @hazeyjohnii  Feb 20

Thank you very much for your comment on The Gift - I finished it: http://fawm.org/songs/72538/

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 19

Hey thanks for listening to I Do Believe In You - I wrote it about my best friend who has travelled most extensively unlike me! Thanks for your nice comment.

  • @ductapeguy  Feb 19

Thanks for your comment on I Believe. I am playing a custom 5 string baritone uke built by my friend, Peter Cox on it.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 18

I would love that--- the lyrics below or different ones? I love your music so you can take my lyrics and make a song! If you want I can send you a rough idea of a melody I had in mind when I wrote the lyrics but I trust you could come up with something better. Let me know which lyrics you want and I can add you as a collaborator! L

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 18

Hi! You had mentioned you might want to collaborate on this song
Are you still interested? I would love it!

  • @hummingbear Feb 2017

Thanks for your note on my Soundboard - first comment - so you opened it this year. And thanks for your comments on my first two skirmish lyrics. I'm slow to start this year, due to illness. Looks like you are off to a great start. This is a great place, enjoy the month!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 2017

It's a merlin, which is in the dulcimer family. Thanks for noticing! ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @seanbrennan  Feb 2017

Thanks for checking out my skirmish track, and for the kind, kind compliment! ๐Ÿ˜€ Based on the account date, unless this is a second account I see that you're a FAWMling! Hope you've had a welcoming and positive first week here, and enjoy the rest of the quest for 14!

  • @siebass  Feb 2017

Thanks for coming back to hear the demo of the King of Tea! It is always interesting to hear how things differ from the sounds we have in our heads.

  • @fearlessflight2014  Feb 2017

Thanks for taking the time to listen to 'What if you died today?' I'm really glad you liked it! I'll let you know when I have a guitar chord demo. ๐Ÿ˜€

  • @susyblue  Feb 2017

  • @gerrybhoy  Feb 2017

Hi, thanks for the kind comments, appreciated.

  • @zecoop  Feb 2017

Thank you so much for listening to Fall into Dreams... Actually, that song gave them the idea to start the one chord challenge, lol. I enjoyed a lot of people's one chord songs!

  • @fearlessflight2014  Feb 2017

Glad your keen to hear something.. no time this year just isolated lyric fragments so far. Really trying to get some demos up this week. SO FREAKING FRUSTRATING!

  • @sunnymae  Feb 2017

    Hey Squeakbox ๐Ÿ˜ฎ)
Thank you so much for for your kind comments on my work. I do have a new album out!. If you would like to take a listen here is the link.
I'll see what I have at the end of this Fawm 2017 and will probably record an album based on some of the material.
And now I'm going to read your lyrics!!

  • @cynthiawolff  Feb 2017

Sorry that you can't hearmy songs...no one is more bummed than me...the app on my iPad crashed and I had to hustle to find another..
I don't know much about recording so what I get is what I get...
    Thanks for trying to listen

  • @sunnymae  Feb 2017

    Hey Squeaks!
The tuning you asked about is a dropped C ๐Ÿ˜ฎ) it's a gorgeous tuning but you need medium strings to hold the C steady that far down. Fool around with it you'll get some fantastic voicings.

  • @sunnymae  Feb 2017

    Hey Squeakmouse๐Ÿ˜Ž
Thanks so much for chiming in on my tune" I Choose Love" Glad you felt it and happy to know you!

  • @squeakmouse73 Feb 2017
