Greetings! I'm Pat, a.k.a. SolarRain a.k.a. State Azure, producer of electronic/ambient music from the UK attempting my 8th FAWM (2018). Wait...8 years since I started this? No f****** way!!
This year is going to be a little different for me. Until now I've almost always been producing my music in-the-box via computer/DAW. But in the last couple of months I've dived head first into the modular/eurorack world and developed a serious case of G.A.S., so my setup and workflow has changed almost completely. I love this new way of producing music, free from the DAW, so expect something different and experimental.
I'll still do some of my usual stuff via the DAW, as that's still where I'm most comfortable and quick at the moment, and patching modular isn't a fast process (plus I'm still learning how it all works).

I am looking forward to more of your work in the months to come and hope for more collaborative ventures too. I have also downloaded everything. It will find its way to my iPod soon.
Thank you for commenting on my song "Kill Edge of A Blade"!
...and now to download everything you've done so I can put it on my aural wall of inspiration...
I am pleased that you liked my touches. Your final version is better than I could have imagined.
I love that you caught the phaser. It was fairly subtle and was on the reverb rather than any instrument. Thanks for listening. I have a lot of catching up to do on your tracks.
Pat thanks for the comment on Kombucha. There’s not much to it. The lead is a stock patch from Linplug Cronox, the pad is a tweaked patch from Cygnus, and everything else is sampled from me saying the lyrics. The background chugging sound is just me saying the word “water” sampled and played many octaves low on the sampler. That’s why I tagged it ‘chopped and screwed’ which heavily makes use of slow playback of sampled if I understand things correctly
Sent you email Pat.
Pat, send me an e-mail from my link on my profile page. I have a file for you.
Oh man that is beautiful! I'm sort of afraid to touch it!
It really was! Took me about 3 episodes to get into it but was totally worth it 😀
I haven't forgotten you Pat. Love the file you sent, but it really needs the right state of mind to bring it together. But, I'm having a load of fun with it.
No worries. I haven’t really worked on anything either. This year has been tough from a time standpoint for me. Been away from home the past two weekends.
Got it, Pat. I was out for the evening and had to wait to get back to my PC. Thanks. I'm anxios to heard this.
Pat, I am having trouble downloading the file you sent. I am reticent to provide credit card info. Do you have an alternative?
You can use Tracktion 6 for free in 32 bit mode, and rewire it over to your host. Tracktion has built in bridging of 32/64 bit. Free.
Uhe is a good guy. So is the guy that is behind Krakli plugs. He has a pretty authentic CS-80 clone called Arminator. Free
Cheers! I’ll investigate 😀
The Digitakt is one cool bit of kit. I have talked myself out of it numerous times, only because I had other priorities. Well done.
If you are up for it; Satie’s Six Gnossienes #4 or Trois Descriptions Automatique Sur en Vaisseau are particularly suited to the beautiful creations you make out of patterns.
Ok. How about building off of a classical/impressionist theme or melody? Last year I used Satie’s Trois Gymnopedies and Faure’s Pavanne for two of my FAWM songs. If you are up for this let me know.
Patrick I see you changed your profile pic from years past. Wondering if an actual collab might be possible this year instead of my noodling to your work. I’m thinking something like God Is An Astronaut type of vibe. If you don’t know that artist, well you have some homework to do!
Seems like the watchlist feature is gone, which sucks... but I found ya again by searching for BoC. Can't wait to hear your stuff as always.
Hi Patrick. As always, I'm hoping to hear your work. Maybe inspiration will strike and a collab could happen.
I need some chill real bad. Hope to hear from you, Pat!
Coming back for 2018?
Hey man, hope you're well!
