Hard to believe this is my 6th FAWM. Looking forward to musicating the February Nasties! February is now one of my favourite months.

Lyrics are my stronger suit but this year I have taken the leap to add more melodies (YAY!)I I love to sing! I tend to sit mostly in the folksinger chair, but am challenging myself to broaden the horizons. I am open to collabs. If you see something that you'd like to collab on, please get in touch.

Happy FAWM to y'all!

Thanks for commenting on my Casio song! 😊

  • @audrey  Mar 8

Thank you so much for all your kind comments on my music. I appreciate it.

  • @audrey  Mar 7

Thanks for the go ahead to tweak the lyrics. I'll do my best to keep them as is, and to find a melody that fits the meter of the lyric, but sometimes there are spots where making a small adjustment can help. Thanks. This will be fun.

  • @audrey  Mar 7

Thanks. I will start soon, but won't rush it. Great! πŸ˜‰

  • @audrey  Mar 7

Thank you for asking me to try my hand at creating some music for your lyrics "To Dance With You". Yes, I would love to. I'm slow, though, so it may take me a few weeks. I will start in a few days, as right now I want to bust some more Zongs and hear and read some more great new music before everyone disappears from FAWM.

  • @kathym  Mar 6

πŸ˜€ on Honey in the Cup. Thank you so much. I liked this idea a lot, so I'm glad you did, too. This is one of the ones that I will keep from this fawm. I'm glad if I get 3 or 4 good ones. Thank goodness the muse decided to visit this year.

  • @kathym  Mar 6

Thank you for the comment on The Encore Song. I was trying to find something positive to finish up the fawm with. I was feeling thankful for all of the other fawmers then thought because it was the last song I'd probably finish, it might be nice to try to find a way to appreciate all of those who help make the coffeehouse nights happen. I am often the final person on stage, so this could be used for almost any event. πŸ˜€

  • @kathym  Mar 6

πŸ˜€ on We Are All People. I've been trying to use shorter lines, fewer words with more impact. Thank you always for your support and your comments.

  • @wacha Mar 3

Thanks for the comment on "Female on the Beach" I watch and write about a love of movies. My normal every day life is pretty boring and I found I was only really writing when I was angry. I started writing about oms of my favorite TV shows and movies. It can make for some interesting songs.

  • @billwhite51 Mar 3

Thanks for listening to and commenting on Holes in the Sky. I am glad you approve. Regarding form, I did write a bridge for the song, but felt it was an unneccesary side trip and wanted to get on to the next station without the layover.

  • @tuomoh Mar 2

Thanks a lot for your kind words on "Money", much appreciated!

  • @crisp1  Mar 1

Thanks for commenting on Behind These Bars. It was an exercise in verbal economy. Weird but true story: I don't write music but as I was reading it over the other night, a melody just popped into my head pretty much complete. Hope you had a great FAWM!

  • @tobyvok Mar 1

thankyou snoozin, titular titles are definitely peculiar but I find them oddly inspiring! perhaps that means I am peculiar myself.

on that particular song I imagined the first section as a chorus, the next two as verses and the last one as a bridge, but I wouldn't set anything in stone until I (or somebody else) had musical ideas, just in case.

    thank you for reading!

  • @downburst  Feb 28

Thank you! Your lyrics are very singable--I just try not to ruin them too badly.

  • @andygetch  Feb 27

  • @andygetch  Feb 27

You are also doing very well and I am looking forward to more listens. I just have to decide which of my new songs that I will learn and then play at Summersongs πŸ˜€

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 25

Yep! You are right! When I write I usually right VCVC patten and this one seemed tor long so I just cropped one of the choruses when I posted. It clearly the wrong one!

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 25

Thanks for the kind comment on "Caterpillar." My grandfather was from Germany, and I guess I have that polka rhythm in my genes.

  • @andygetch  Feb 23

Thanks for the kind compliment on my wacky 1am skirmish quick pickle song πŸ˜€

  • @laotranati Feb 23

Thanks for your comment on my Storm winds skirmish, and congrats for your 18 songs.

  • @andygetch  Feb 21

    You πŸ˜€

  • @jwhanberry  Feb 21

Thanks for your encouraging comments and support on my various superskirmish ramblings this past weekend. It was great fun playing with you and the other folks for all those hours. Have a great week.

  • @andygetch  Feb 21

hey see what you think, post if you like

  • @paulharrison  Feb 20

Regarding SS, I'm not sure yet. I generally make one trip for continuing songwriting education per year and I'm not sure where this year. I like having different songwriting influences and some places don't change a lot year to year. Johnsmith is very good addition to SS and the people are great there, so they are always in the running.

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 20

Yeah the same three chords - as they're bluesy - my favourite! I could vamp for hours haha 😁 Thanks for listening to Road Trip With You

  • @paulharrison  Feb 19

Thanks for your kind comments on Goodbye, Susan! Yes, it was actually Tom Prasada-Rao whose workshop had that exercise. Actually, he said "Think of a person with whom you have an unfinished conversation. Got it? Now write from THAT person's point of view." Cool prompt, huh? It could go lots of directions. Anyway, best of luck with your song idea.

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 19

Hahaha, yes we do. And I wouldn't have it any other way!

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 19

Thank you <3 I thought my acronym for "Fate" was half decent too πŸ˜€ hehe.

  • @yam655  Feb 19

My son wanted me to ask you, "Do you play HedgeWars?" It's his favorite video game. (It's also free and available for Windows, macOS and Linux.)

  • @paulharrison  Feb 19

Hi Susan! Nice to see that you're here. I tried FAWMing once before when I was employed but had trouble finding time. So, I'm trying again...having retired. Anyway, thanks for the comments on Uh Oh. I look forward to doing it with an audience.

  • @andygetch  Feb 18

I missed the skirmish cause I was practicing music with a cello partner who I am starting to play out with. Forbidden Blade is intriguing, yes I can put some layers on it, did you have a particular vibe/mood/sounds_ like in mind?

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 18

Thank you for your warm comment on my skirmish lyric, it was written only because of the prompt so I should also thank Tasha for her interesting theme. Thank you again for your support.

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 17

Thanks for the nice comment on my "Reflections" skirmish. It was fun to write.

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 11

Thanks for the comment on my "Gondola" skirmish. That was a challenging prompt, but led to some interesting songs from the participants.

  • @andygetch  Feb 11

Sorry I missed your skirmish, I was at an artist walk & talk and then took a nap when I got home. When I saw the prompt my mind connected Reflections with my dating years theme so I am gonna take some time with writing this song.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 11

Thanks for the great skirmish prompt. πŸ˜€

  • @yam655  Feb 11

That was a great skirmish subject/title. Reflection is essentially a spiritual topic for me. (To the point I had a vision while asleep about it.)

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 11

That is exactly why we need a drum circle tonight! I will bring the wine!

  • @aprilm Feb 10

Thank you for listening and commenting on Everything To Me. I appreciate that you enjoyed it and took time to let me know

  • @andygetch  Feb 10

  • @andygetch  Feb 9

Hi Susan, the collab can wait until you are ready. I hope it goes ok 😏

  • @andygetch  Feb 8

Hey Susan, six songs the first week, great start! You asked about a collab, any preference on how you would like to proceed?

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 6

Thanks, for the lovely comments on my "Roots" skirmish song. Every once in a while we get lucky, don't we?

  • @johnstaples  Feb 4

Hey Susan! Thanks for hosting!! So glad you got 5 new songs!! I managed to get a couple so I'm pretty happy with that since we are only 4 days in!! Great FAWM so far!!!

  • @scubed  Feb 4

Thanks so much for your kind words on "When In Doubt Choose Love"!

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 4

Thanks for the nice comment on my Dragon skirmish song. It was fun to write.

  • @aprilm Feb 4

My pleasure! Thanks for your comments also! This was a prompt that was easy to grab hold of and let it flow!

  • @johnstaples  Feb 3

Hey skirmish host! In my post for super skirmish ss3a I included a link to a site that adjusts the time to local times. link was customized for the start of my skirmish! So, if you used my post as a template and did not change the link your link will NOT reflect the correct time and you will confuse your skirmishers!!!.

If you used my post as a template you need to either 1) correct the link to the time of your skirmish or 2) provide a link to a general conversion site like this

Sorry if my link caused any confusion!!

  • @ihelen  Feb 3

Thank you for your thoughtful words on my Addiction song. Happy FAWMing!

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 3

Thanks for the kind words on my "Addiction" skirmish song. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • @famouspatrick  Feb 3

Thanks for the feedback on "Equal to the Test." You are too kind.

  • @tiller2  Feb 1

Thanks for your nice comment on my addiction song--I tried to blur the nature of the addiction: to coffee or the one who provided it? They say cigarette addiction is not just to nicotine but to the whole smoking ritual, including the crackle of the cellophane. Have a great FAWM!

  • @mishykatz  Feb 1

Thank you for the feedback! Much appreciated πŸ˜€

  • @andygetch  Jan 30

Hi friend, I'm looking forward to what 2017 has in store and thanks for asking, yes lets collab!

  • @vikkiflawith  Jan 30

*Waves from the West* - happy FAWM 😁

  • @johnstaples  Jan 29

Hi Susan!! Looking forward to some fun!

  • @helene  Jan 28

    Hi! Welcome back! Happy FAWMing!

  • @kathym  Jan 28

    Susan - Hi!
