Re: Terrestrial--- what's a kids' album without space aliens? πŸ˜‰

  • @nuerdetjuligen  Mar 18

Still working on our collaboration! So sorry to be dragging it along. Thank you for your patience πŸ˜€

  • @msculli1  Mar 10

Thanks for the comment on Driving Through The Rain. It is a sad song with hope for a better future. Thanks again.

    25 songs done. Well done.

  • @ihelen  Mar 9

Thanks for commenting on my soup song! Grilled cheese sounds good to me about now as well, especially since I've skipped lunch. πŸ˜… Have a wonderful day!

  • @crisp1  Mar 7

Thanks for commenting on Dive. It's a sprawling mess but it's heartfelt. I've struggled to trim it back but haven't succeeded yet. I suspect it'll be simmering on the proverbial backburner for a long, long time.

  • @metalfoot  Mar 6

glad you enjoyed Eccentric. It was a fun one to write, sing, and play!

  • @scottlake Mar 6

Soul Meets Body is the sound I was shooting for, so that's a compliment

  • @reggiestyte Mar 6

Thanks for tuning in to my pulp spy thriller. Write on.

  • @popmythology  Mar 5

Awesome! Can you change the setting of the song to "public"? Right now it's still "private" (as a placeholder) so ppl won't be able to click on it. PS: the "nice mustache" made me laugh, hehe.

  • @popmythology  Mar 5

Love it! Please go ahead and post and thanks for taking the time to do it! Praise be to lord Cthulhu! Gonna go listen to your epic rap battle now, lol. (PS: Oh, for the Soundcloud page, do you think it'd be possible to use my writer's pseudonym, Pop Mythologist (instead of Daniel) and include the link to my blog, popmythology.com? Thanks!)

  • @popmythology  Mar 4

Just had a chance to listen to the work in progress, lol. Carry on, good sir!

  • @popmythology  Mar 4

No, problem, take your time! The link didn't work for me but then I'm also having some problems wth my wi-fi right now. Is this for the Cthulhu one?

  • @tuomoh Mar 3

Thanks for your kind words on "Empty Streets And Empty Seats", much appreciated. You did get those two interpretations I was thinking about while writing the lyrics! πŸ˜€

  • @kahlo2013  Mar 3

Thanks so much for coming by and your kind comments! I will be listening more this weekend!!

  • @insaneian Mar 1

Awesome, man! Would be good to see you there to put a face to the...Facebook. Right.

You know what I meant. πŸ˜‰

  • @insaneian Mar 1

hey man! Yeah, definitely! And hey, I'll be back in the Baltimore/DC area on March 25th performing nerdy raps at the Wind-Up Space in Baltimore with other artists like K-Murdock, Wreck the System, and Schaffer the Darklord...you should come check it out!

  • @wacha Mar 1

Thank you very much for your comment on "Mandy Lane"!

  • @crlntgr Mar 1

In "Foley step" The bassline is my voice pitched way down and being modulated, not reversed. Thanks for listening and commenting! πŸ˜€

  • @nuerdetjuligen  Mar 1

I'm sorry i haven't been able to work with your awesome lyrics yet! I'll finally have a weekend off this coming and i can't wait. thanks for your patience πŸ˜€

  • @alphanerg Feb 28

Thanks for your nice comment on "Vast Active Living Electronic System"!

  • @popmythology  Feb 28

Yep, however you'd like to play with it is A-ok with me! Also, just for your personal reassurance, I have a law professor friend who specializes in copyright law and parodies are protected by law so there's absolutely no fear of getting a letter from some Disney lawyer for doing this! πŸ˜€

  • @insaneian Feb 28

haha, thanks man! Pretty sure if we ever get to another Scooter Picnic album, it will be titled "The Rappening".

  • @popmythology  Feb 28

That's definitely a big "yes" from me on both accounts. It really doesn't matter when. And even if listeners start tapering off at the end of FAWM, a lot of them are still hanging around the Facebook group (are you a member of it?), so we could even post it there for feedback. So by all means, please take your time and no pressure at all. I'll also let you know for sure if my original collaborator posts it!

  • @popmythology  Feb 28

Hey, man, quick question for you. I tried checking in with the person who was going to be doing the "Under the Sea" parody but I haven't heard from him and I'm not sure what the status is. Not sure if he'll be posting a demo today (last day) or not. Do you still feel like taking a crack at it? A quick & easy way to do a demo just for fun might be to download one of the instrumental versions of it from YouTube and just record your singing over it. You're probably too busy but I just thought I'd ask! πŸ˜€ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3r_B...

  • @beautyspot  Feb 28

Hey thanks for comments on RootsIntoTheGround. I'm not much of a singer, and in fact this song, like many this year , was not written, it was created on the spot, so I don't really know what I'm going say or where the song is going!

  • @williamhaight Feb 28

By the way, I had already listened and commented on your brother's song. Spooky.

  • @williamhaight Feb 28

Thanks so much for your comments on Vivienne's Song. It really was and is almost more then I can handle. I've not been able to participate as i intended this year. I'll get back to yours.

  • @metalfoot  Feb 27

Done. "Bad Ad Jingle". And it's bad. Yours was at least good. LOL

  • @davewermers  Feb 27

Thanks for the comments on my song "63 Chevy", I appreciate your comments and listening to my songs!

  • @winchperry Feb 26

Thank you for taking the time to read the lyrics to Pizza, my song for the conversation skirmish tonight, and comment on it. I just listened at a bunch of your postings at random. You are very creative and write well in many styles. Your lyrics are very heartfelt and real.

  • @gemhughs Feb 25

Thanks for the listen and comments on "I Think It Stinks". When making videos, part of the fun is finding and editing images to illustrate the song. If I remember correctly, the finger in the ear was taken from a picture of Obama, but I don't think anyone would guess the source.

  • @vegansongs Feb 25

Thank you for your kind words on Rise To Vote Sir- Palindrome.
    I had fun with it!

  • @johnstaples  Feb 25

Hey, congrats on being a new dad very soon! My kids are grown now but they were and still are the most important people in my life! I still remember holding my babies, taking care of them, reading to them (that was a favorite), teaching them, and then learning from them! I wish you all the very best with your new little one!!! <3

  • @kathym  Feb 25

Thx for the comment on the skirmish. I struggled with a concept and was glad the right idea came. I almost didn't put puppies in there, but I figured I needed to find that kind of love.

  • @cblack  Feb 25

Ha, glad you liked it. Long live the cowbell! 😝

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 23

Haha, no worries at all! I actually enjoy a good puzzle or challenge. Figuring out what it says kept me unconventionally entertained πŸ˜€

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 23

It took me this entire time of FAWMing to figure out that your user image./ album cover says FAWM under your name. I was like what the heck is written there? it's not a shadow is it??

    lol...

I feel so much better now that I got it. I was too distracted by "what is that" -ing to listen and comment.

  • @visiblydistorted Feb 23

Naw, "MaFiChMo" was too funny NOT to write a song... I'm sure you've heard of 'so bad it's good' ... well this is 'so silly it's serious'

  • @chandra83  Feb 22

thanks for your feedback on "Go" πŸ˜€

  • @candle Feb 22

Thanks for checking out my version of The Road Is So Long, Lord. Will be checking out your version shortly.

    See You In The Shadows…

  • @insaneian Feb 21

Thanks for checking out my rock opera tracks! Your assessment on how the music might go on "Closure" is pretty on the nose to how I envision it (fast metal leading into anthemic chorus). I'm hoping to get a few more of the tracks written this month, but I'm not sure how far I'll get in the next 7 days...

  • @yam655  Feb 21

Keep an eye out for "superskirmishes". There may be one more this year. Over the course of 24 hours (sometimes more), every two hours there is a one-hour skirmish. We find out what the title/theme is, spend an hour writing/recording a song, then get to spend the next hour listening/reading what other people came up with. Then it repeats. Since it lasts 24 hours, folks in every timezone have an opportunity to participate.

You can practice your one-hour strategy at any time by checking out an old skirmish thread and writing a song to the title/theme in an hour. Use the tags provided in the thread, and comment in it that you did it in an hour, though you started late. πŸ˜€

  • @yam655  Feb 21

Congratulations on making it to the Century Club! πŸ˜€

  • @yam655  Feb 21

This year I've been doing a lot of experimentation and not particularly trying for speed. If you look carefully at my tags, all but three of my songs (~91.9%) have the "skirmish" tag. Skirmishes are great to help a person improve their speed, as well as to help highlight the particularly slow parts of their process. You should try them sometime! πŸ˜€

  • @nuerdetjuligen  Feb 21

Plus I dig your synesthesia song if you wanted to collab on that. Or on anything at all. I don't know how the rules go on these things.

  • @nuerdetjuligen  Feb 21

Oh man! Thanks for letting me know we're up for the random collab! So excited! Your stuff is awesome

  • @aprilm Feb 20

Thanks so much for listening to Into the Night. I truly appreciate your thoughtful comments. I worked on the guitar first and took me all week to get it right! Added the rest today now that I actually got a day off from work!

  • @acromie Feb 20

Thank you for your comment on Bright Sunny Day!

  • @clioem  Feb 20

Yes indeed, the first track is almost a direct 1-to-1 recording from inside the cabin of an (I think) Airbus KLM Amsterdam-Vienna. I was sitting over the right wing at the time in the exit row, if I remember correctly!

  • @zecoop  Feb 20

Ooh... I can't wait to catch up! Thanks for checking out Market Square. It was awesome but we didn't get a ton of time to explore it. We were in our way to Talinn Estonia for the day. We were supposed to come back on the last day but work work in the way. Ugh. There was a 10 foot wide wok full of salmon paella that was calling my name. 😞

  • @metalfoot  Feb 20

I like to sing low, sometimes. It was fun to do in "The Road is So Long". I really appreciated the various versions of that song which came about-- and yours was certainly wonderful.

  • @yam655  Feb 19

In my youth I didn't believe you could communicate truth via essay, but that poetry was easier to understand, so on at least one occasion I wrote an essay only to turn it in to a poem and delete the original essay. (This was long before I started turning essays in to songs.)

I still believe that anything can be turned in to a song. It might not be as accurate as the essay, but it can more easily convey the truth of the matter.

  • @boyatheart  Feb 18

Thanks for the message. Glad you liked that song. Always striving to wrote better songs and that one raised the bar for me at the time.

  • @loveonamixtape  Feb 18

Thanks for your nice words! Just saw your lyrics -- looking forward to putting them to some music!

  • @insaneian Feb 17

Thanks for the kind words on my Iron Man song! I appreciate folks who can appreciate parody...

  • @grenzgaengerin Feb 17

Thank you very much for listen and for your comment.
You re on my watchlist know...😎

  • @gemhughs Feb 17

Thanks for the listen and kind comments on "Good Dreams Never Die". The instrument about which you asked probably started off as an guitar sound but there's no telling what sounds I layered with it? I guess it does have a clavinet quality. Yeah, I try to write short simple songs using as few lyrics as possible to capture the basic idea of the song. Thanks for noticing.

  • @debs  Feb 2017

What?! Your harmonies are AMAZING, silly!!

  • @colgoo  Feb 2017

Thanks for your comment on "Telepathetic Lover". Great ideas to consider in a future draft.

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 2017

    Thanks for commenting!

  • @popmythology  Feb 2017

Yeah, it IS really cool! I've never seen anything like it. I think it's more of a testament to the historical context that inspired the song than anything having to do with me. I tried to stay out of the way in writing this one as much as possible, which I think was the way to go. I just saw your edit to your liner notes ("the collabs are so long lord, the collabs are so long!") and it made me smile. Thanks again!

  • @popmythology  Feb 2017

Just heard your demo and Ioved it! It totally works done in that style as well. Loved the harmonies. Thank you for doing it! (Oh, and hope you don't mind but I added your FAWM username in parentheses after the title so as to more clearly differentiate it from metalfoot's version.)

  • @popmythology  Feb 2017

Thanks for your interest! I was kinda concerned about the same thing so I asked one of the admin gods of the FAWM pantheon and he said that as long as the individuals concerned are ok with there being multiple versions for the same lyrics then it's totally ok and not against FAWM etiquette. So if you're ok with there being other versions, by all means please feel free if you're still interested! It would be cool to hear different interpretations. πŸ˜€

  • @williamhaight Feb 2017

Thanks so much for the kind comments. The slide is a Les Paul Studio Pro with really old strings. I'm kind of lazy, I guess. Amanda is so good with lyrics.

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 2017

Thank you for commenting on I can't belive you!

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 2017

You are very welcome. Thank you for your support. So glad you are describing imagened house.
    Nadia

  • @mrmule Feb 2017

yeah, actually the idea came when I was printing lyrics sheets for my cassette, they had a perfect rhythm but I figured printing a collection of short stories takes longer and would be better. The only thing was that it printed "two pages on one sheet" which made it super small and tight and ruined the whole thing. I can't even use the short story collection, since the pages are all completely wrong.

  • @zecoop  Feb 2017

And yea... Gulf War Song is amazing

  • @zecoop  Feb 2017

Fruvous was one of my favorites too... And my kids loved them. I saw them first at Newport Folk Festival in 1996 as an unannounced band. Blown away. When my son was there he loved singing The Drinking Song... We got odd looks, lol.

  • @zecoop  Feb 2017

Daaaaaannnnngggggg.. Now you have me totally jonesing for some Crawfish Γ‰touffΓ©e!!! Mmmmmm...... Thanks for the great comment and for taking the time to listen. πŸ˜€

  • @metalfootlings Feb 2017

The footlings appreciate your listening and support... they love the fact people are listening! -metalfoot

  • @arthurrossi Feb 2017

I would like to thank you very much for your profound and that interesting comment! It was a pleasure to read it! πŸ˜€

  • @squeakmouse73 Feb 2017

Just saying thank you for all your encouragement. Mega-blessings to you, your wife, and that treasure she's carrying. Looking forward to hearing your song as well.

  • @colgoo  Feb 2017

Thanks for your comment on my collaboration. This is my second FAWM so I remember how valuable that input is from others. I really love your creative lyrics!

  • @mrmule Feb 2017

It might work without words. Actually rather well, since the same minor progressions would be major progressions when played backwards. I'm gonna try it at some point, Now I have a gig coming up and I'm busy with school, but maybe during the weekend..

  • @metalfoot  Feb 2017

Thanks for coming by to listen to my songs. I really appreciate your kind words. Hope your FAWM is meeting your expectations so far!

  • @popmythology  Feb 2017

Oops, forgot to respond this one earlier this morning - aaah, I can't keep up with everything on FAWM! So, yeah, someone on my forum thread (I posted the song in the Collab Classifieds) said yesterday that he wanted to take a crack at it. Thanks so much for your interest, though, and having heard your brunch song I *totally* believe that you can nail the Sebastian accent! And, yeah, I have a friend who's a copyright law professor and parodies are protected by law. Cool, isn't it?!

  • @mrmule Feb 2017

Yeah, but I considered found sounds instruments too, since they are mostly what I use anyway! So the idea was to use just my own body without any external "instruments". πŸ˜€

Now I'm up to 12 with it, I made lyrics out of fridge magnets. 😁

  • @popmythology  Feb 2017

Thank you for coming back to listen to the demo for "Alternative Facts"!

  • @siebass  Feb 2017

Thanks! Many good things to come this FAWMbruary.

  • @popmythology  Feb 2017

Well, they *are* mammals! I have a scientific source backing up that claim here somewhere.... lol, thanks for the comment!

  • @natrin Jan 2017

    Welcome!
