Artist Bio

Influences:   My father. Joni Mitchell, Rhiannon Giddens. Dan Fogelberg, Mary Hopkins, Kate Bush, Celtic Woman, Allison Kraus, Blackmoore's Night, Joan Baez. Musical theater. Storytellers - I'm awful with names. But I remember the music!

This will be my ninth year at FAWM. And, one of the few that I've actually got a fairly clear month. No traveling planned, which almost never happens in February.
It's wonderful to already see that so many of my Fawm buddies are back 😀 After last year's deep funk, this year I'm over the shock of the election and have been expending some of my energy participating in a resistance choir, and getting out the vote for 2018. I'm not really expecting a lot of political lyrics this year, but ya never know.

I'm just here for the fun and inspiration!! Should you wish to join me in a collaboration, I only ask that I get a copy of the music file sent to my email, as well as any mixed with vocals. Hope that doesn't discourage anyone 😀

Oh, and by the way,
It's Sheila - Sheiler K
Christened by East Coast friends
Who can't pronounce A...
(at least, when it comes at the end my name!)
Somehow an R seems to slip in there uninvited 😉

Hi Sheila, thank you for your kind comment. It will be wonderful to collaborate with you. I've added you. Looking forward to our collaboration.

  • @mkd  Mar 2

Thanks for commenting on Brotherly Love! The whole album features the boys in one way or another (sometimes just me singing from their point of view, but frequently as real-life soundclips like in this one)... there are a fair few that represent all the other sides of family life too, ha ha! But yes, they love each other to bits, and I absolutely wanted to capture that, I’m so pleased you like it!

  • @renegadepriest Mar 2

Thank you for your kind words and warm welcome! I will most assuredly be back next year, with a vengeance! 🤘

  • @jamkar  Feb 28

  • @brrrse  Feb 26

Yep, Tacoma Washingon USA - in fact I'll be going up to Ballard for the FAWM Wrap-up open mic - Grubby D's in Ballard? I've lived here for 21 years now and rarely do I leave my house LOL

  • @jamkar  Feb 26

Working on "Come Back Please " tonight. 😀

  • @jibbidy34  Feb 26

Centralia is the name of my friends' New York improv troupe, they're among the best in the world. But their name is based on a town in Pennsylvania, which apparently had an underground fire which blazed for years. Honestly, I was just plugging in words to fit a groove I really liked.

  • @spunky4455 Feb 26

Excellent! I'm also soliciting photos from marches and protests. I think I'm gonna make at least one of these political songs into a YouTube vid. Once I have a finished product I like, I'll send.

  • @spunky4455 Feb 25

Hi, Sheila! If you really want a copy of that headache song, I can send you the finished version when I have it. Just let me know. Thanks again for the support!!

  • @brrrse  Feb 25

Thanks for your words on The big green button - that came straight out of my head - just a glimpse at the 74 screen movie theater in my head LOL You didn't miss out on anything 😀

  • @audrey  Feb 25

Thank you for your kind words on Evening Echo. I appreciate it.

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 25

Thx for your comments. This was one of the rare times for me when this was an exactly true story.

  • @berni1954  Feb 25

Thanks for listening to (and commenting on) The Puppeteer.

I too was a puppeteer - everything from glove puppets to stick puppets and even giant puppets for street work. But I could never handle a marionette like the guy in my song - sheer magic.

Funny how inspiration works. I was thinking how to approach the theme and the line "Round up all your friends and bring them down here" came to me. I thought back over all the shows I have seen and thought which one would I send urgent Whatsapps to friends for and remembered that magic puppeteer... which rhymed with "here", what's more!

The song then kind of wrote itself.

  • @crisp1  Feb 25

Thanks for the comments on Evening Echo. I was lucky enough to have two different songs made from that same lyric. You should listen to the other one also. Totally different from the first.

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 24

Thanksfor the kind comment on my skirmish song. <3

20 euro is more or less the same in dollars. I guess dollar is abitmore so 23 Dollar

  • @zxcvbnm  Feb 24

Thanks for the kind remarks on Rubber Gear, if you want to suffer more the "rough" demo is up.

  • @coolparadiso  Feb 24

Thx for your perceptive comments. I am focussing on changing from whence the story is coming lyrically. And musically when im allowed to make a noise going to focus on key changing.

  • @jamkar  Feb 17

    Sheila, I finished Cynthia's song.

  • @errol Feb 14

Allloooo, @Sheilerk! 😁 Hopefully I'll get some songs out!

And I hope your FAWM is going well!

  • @metalfoot  Feb 13

There's a demo for My Voice now.

  • @donna  Feb 11

My gosh, you're doing brilliantly with the skirmishes, Sheila.

  • @aricate Feb 11

Thanks for your kind comment on my Gypsy collab!

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 10

When its just jibberish lyrics it s. I have done and teach improv theater for many years so improvising is pretty easy but I always s´choose a easy flowing chordprogression and then just blabber something out trying to hastly make it rhyme. Thanks for the compliment.

  • @plainwhitetoast  Feb 10

Hi. Thank you. I can't say much else, but thank you.

  • @acousticmaddie  Feb 10

Thanks for your kind comment on Bad-ass hooks.

  • @xfloorpunchx Feb 10

  • @nateger Feb 3

Thank you for your thoughtful comment on my song! That means a lot to me 😀 I actually don't have any kids right now but it was a fun exercise to do a "what-if?"

  • @monty  Feb 3

Hi! Welcome back. Hope you have an awesome FAWM.

  • @jamkar  Feb 2

Thank you! 😀 Now with music!

  • @thetau  Feb 1

    Hi Sheila.
I'll send you something later. I can always use your lyrical Gift to pull me out of that "what am I going to do with this now?" syndrome
    Russ 😀
