  I redid the lyric for @lizleppy's song, but I haven't heard back yet ... I did it so that it would flow better in English and so I could do a demo of it. I can't really move forward with it until I hear back ... so when I get the go-ahead, I'll finish it

  O, I think a winkle is a periwinkle, and I guess if one likes jellied eels, a nice periwinkle or two would seem quite pleasant. You'll have to ask @mattblick, however.

I'll be working on my recording skills now, I think I've got a handle on the writing, but I'm still really weak on the other side. I never even recorded myself playing and singing until this month. Give me a year and I should be able to spin some heads around ... and thanks for working with me on the rat song

  Sheila, I've altered the © statements. I'd be happy if you wanted to put this one into Creative Commons, where I usually don't tread, but as a proper rule there should be at least some indication of the ©. I know most FAWMers don't, that's not the point!

  if you post it, change the filename to DUANE_CLANCY_SHEILA_KAUFMAN_TIM_FATCHEN-My_friend_is_a_rat.mp3 so it doesn't get lost in space. That's what it will be down as in APRA registration. I would have sung it lower, but it was pitched for your voice. Still, squeaky vocals work!

  Apple mice. One button, right? equivalent to left button on a windows mouse. But there must also be an equivalent to windows' "right click", perhaps ctrl-click? that opens up a different set of actions. If I just normal, left-click on the FAWM "download this song" it just streams, as if I'd clicked on the player. In my case, it loads QUicktime (!) to stream it. If I alternate, right-click on it, then I can download the file as an mp3 (or whatever), not as a stream. Try it: http://www.ehow.com/how_6542_click-mac.html

  [changed] Sent via email. But it has just occurred to me: iPods will not take "normal" mp3s. It's a totally different encoding and you have to use iTunes to translate it. So I presume garageband is doing some sort of equally arcane Apple thing. Sheila, what's on the URL, downloadable, and attached to the email is stock-standard professional mp3 encoding that I send to music libraries, Taxi, A&R people and so on. There's got to be something you haven't ticked in your software that won't let them through!. Alternatively Apple is refusing to lsiten to mp3 codecs which have expired. Can't help if that's the case
  
  Re the streaming jerkiness: my ISP tracked the paths and is satisfied that the FAWM servers (with their control actions) are a bit flaky. SO when the US all leap out of bed and login, I think there's a logjam. I have issues with others music at US peak times (early morning, evening.)

  + @duaneclancy it should simply download (right-click on the link, and use "save as") and the buffering issues won't arise. Don't try to stream it. The garageband bit, what's happening there? Tell me what format garageband actually wants (the mp3 is encoded at 44.1Mhz, 16-bit, 192bps ie CD standard). I can encode as AIFF if need be. In the meantime I'll email the two mp3s. If the emailed files work, then record into another file (earphone in your ear for the backing!) so that it's +/- voice only, DON'T FORGET to sing the 2-3-4-Mark at the beginning!!!.

That way you can both get credit for the song and my name is still in the mix ... In this effort I've had to insert "but" between the last two chorus lines (the music did that). Trying to persuade Muroidea (ee-AH) to rhyme with "day" was hard but I did it. And sorry, I ate the last line of verse 1, to "They'll understand, they'll be your own one" which is still not good but at least it scans, fits and _rhymes_!!!!
