Influences: Immortal, Emperor, Winterfylleth, Mayhem, Wolves In The Throne Room, Amon Amarth
In the first week of February I'll be rehearsing like mad in preparation for the second week of February when I'm heading to the UK to record the new Abomnium album.
I hope to join you all in the middle of the month to have fun with writing some new stuff 😀

thank you very much for the feedback on "Dust Off Your Riveters", the first two verses came yo me rather quickly. I then had to do a little digging and some thinking about where I wanted the song to go. Since I started the song with a fictional version of a real person, I considered ending it with Norma but decided to use Chrystal instead.
Thanks for commenting on my Takeover song! You know... I *did* consider video recording the women walking down the street, but thought that might be too creepy. 😂
Thanks for your kind words! You made my day! 😀
Thanks for providing some insight into your trademark vocals! I'm trying to learn a bit of vocal production myself so it's all very interesting. Glad you're here at FAWM to enlighten us!
Thank you for your comments on my songs after my forum post. I actually run a web development agency and my client is a top guy in the cranberry industry whose website we're building. He's....an interesting guy. I haven't uploaded the artwork, but he fiver'd a superhero figure with his likeness. That business card sits on my bulletin board above my desk and provided the inspiration.
"Uncertain as to whether this is a massive act of homage, a massive act of trolling, or a happy combination of both, I have to say that I enjoyed it enormously!"
I wish I could tell you, but I don't know either! haha
I just got laryngitis reading that
ahh, got it
I archive every year too but it's stuck on my old notebook so I couldn't look to see for sure and I couldn't find anything in emails
(I loved Mars by the way..I got lost in a dream cloud though : ) so I still need to comment)
Thank you, good sir, for all those comments you left for the various versions of "The Road Is So Long, Lord"! Congrats on amazingly winning FAWM despite recording an album at the same time (jeez)! Where does your energy come from? Can I have some? I really need it, lol. And speaking of recording, I hope all is going well with the recording sessions!!
I think you and I might've done a collab my first time on fawm - '09. I for sure 'met' you that year. I also know for sure, that same year, I did a collab with Calum Carlisle (not sure of the spelling) so that could be mixing me up since I think you guys knew each other. Maybe I'm getting it all wrong, it was awhile ago.
(or am I going bananas)
did you used to be sapient network or was that someone completely different?
thank you for your insightful comments on death came for the hangman. you are absolutely right. a story like this has so many chapters that it is difficult to narrow it down to the essentials. so i wrote about thrity verses and then cut it all down. im glad it worked for you.
Thanks so much for stopping by and your kind words. That's a big honor for my songs coming from you. Btw, if you wanna know, the fuzz sound on my song "God Hates Fags" was made using a WMD Geiger Counter effect pedal. Check it out. It's amazing but so brutal that I can't use it on so many songs.
Thanks so much for the nice comment on Restless in my sock. Really appreciated.
Thanks for commenting. On Galaxy Rock and all my songs I just write whatever is in my head and feels natural to me. Like root beer, I recently opened a bottle that exploded so I fit that in the song and the radio said 40% chance of flurries...I use what I hear around and think about.
Just saying hi and thank you for your comment on Liz's song. Blame it on my love of old-school R&B, but when I read those lyrics, it screamed my name, although it's not the kind of song I normally write. So, yes, it was fun, and a perfect opportunity that I should have snatched a lot more often this year.
Thanks a lot for listening to our collab! Glad you liked it. Really had an idea for the style and as far as i can judge, I pulled it off the best I could. Hope you had a great month!
Thanks for the comment spree! Yeah, the goal this year had been to keep it a lot more stripped down and raw, and where it makes sense to experiment with new chord shapes and progressions.
I'll probably head back more towards a traditional Das Binky sound next FAWM (or 50/90), but it's been good to stretch.
Oh, and I don't have s double bass pedal yet, but I'm also still quite a ways away from precision blast beats. 😉
Thank you so much for the kind comment on "Final Hours." That was my first attempt playing the ebow. I love how they sound so much! I fumbled through it - but I do think it added something cool to the song. 😀 Looking forward to catching up on listening to your songs this March!
I'll be sure to add Abomnium to my ever-growing list of bands to check out! For now I'll devote my listening time to FAWM creations. 😀
Thanks for your comment on Only One Survives Peter! Means a lot coming from you!!! I'll be checking out your new stuff this week...I see you got your trophy! Pretty impressive considering you produced an album in the first half of the month!!!
Thanks a lot for your sweet words on "It's Alive!" and "Flesh". Now I only need the band with which I could get that pit spinning!
Ha! Thanks for the comment. 😀 And yep - definitely wanted things to swing back round to the dark side on that one. As a fellow metalhead, I'm sure you understand. 😉
Hey cheers for the review on Chemical Carousel. I had never heard of trainspotting but I just queued it up on Netflix so I'll check it out (just to hear the music of course).
I must be listening to too much crazy music because I actually recorded the guitars against each other with little to no issue! The trick is to not listen to the other guitar haha
15? That's just showing off! Congratulations on the win sir! Time for wine sir?
Listening to these makes me sad our schedules didn't allow for a collab this time around. If you're up for something post-FAWM, let me know! I want to keep going a bit if I can. Congrats on all the metal so far!
12! Keep going!
Thank you for your comment on "Yöhuuto"! Yeah, Iceland totally blew me away. And with all the brilliant bands, literature and their football team, one has to wonder is there any normal people out there? 😁
Thanks for your comments on "The Beast Inside"...welcome feedback...I do need to sort out a proper ending...I would love to say I played the guitar parts, but I got them as loops in Logic Pro X...But I do plan to add real guitars at some point and add lyrics/vocals...Thanks.
That's really good news and I am looking forward to it!
Thanks a ton for the comment! I'll always remember you were the first person to ever comment on one of my songs, a good six years ago now
Thanks indeed for the comment on "Innan vi dör"! We'll have to see what we'll come up with in the future.
Thanks for the comment man. I did think (yesterday) you'd appreciate this as you're one of the few people I know around here doing metal seriously. To be honest, the sound is not exactly what we had in mind, but as I chickened out of doing the guitars this time around, there's not much to do. And then that's the beauty of collabs - if the tune sounds so slick, it's because @dylgiq did the drums, guitars and mixing. Hopefully by next year we can showcase a LedZepp version of this 😀
A year ago I had a major hack. Most services see my site as clean now, but there one or two that have the old info, and I've just been too busy to "inform" them to check my site again.
Its a constant battle that I'm on top of every.single.day...
Hey thanks for the comment on Bluff Hand. Keep rockin' 😀
On setting lyrics: sure, it's worth a try. Hope I don't disappoint you!!!
You're not so bad yourself! 😉
Seriously, thank you loads! 😊
You sure do! Give 'em some shock n awe! 😉
Hey Sapient. Do you mind if I sample the opening guitar solo for Helga the FAWM Duck? I love guitar samples like that and really wanna make something with it.
Of course there is always 'Thomas The Organic Donkey' languishing in my FAWM list..... 😉
Well my Lord, you can choose. I have a couple left field ones on my FAWM list without collabs, or I can write something specially for you 😀
Here are the spare ones I thought might be very left field for you that are already on FAWM -
http://fawm.org/songs/67105/ Waking The Dragon
http://fawm.org/songs/71040/ Chocolate Fudge Soul Food
Or I can write another like I said. There are others on my FAWM, but they may be too boring for you 😉
That. Was. AMAZING. Thanks! You exceeded my dreams for that track.
Tried to send you a private message on the twitter, but it won't let me. I have a track for you to listen to, see if it inspires you.
Thanks for the kind words on Unleashed! Abbath is an influence for sure, I even call the 1-b3-8 chord thing he uses "the Abbath chord" 😁
Thanks for the feedback -- good to see someone I recognise still around! Hope recording went well, can't wait to hear what you bust out this year.
Certainly! I'll come up with something in the next couple of days and we'll see where we go from there.
Okay, I'll try to put something together for you to work with. Do you prefer me to go heavy, or... surprise you?
Thanks for your comments on my breakfast songs 😀
I hadn't heard of the Paradiso prior to Googling, but I've always wanted to see the Netherlands! Thanks for a great comment on Damascus, too kind sir!
Thank you for the kind words, good sir! I hope that Skyhammer is treating you well!
SAAAAPIENT! Master of steel! Welcome to what promises to be a wonderful month for you! 😁
Looking forward to your explorations this year, sir. Good luck with the album!
See You In The Shadows…
'And Lo, the Lord Sapient did descend from his throne to perform his dark work of majestic metal.'
I look forward to hearing the new stuff! I hope your session goes well and can't wait to hear your new FAWM contributions!
Looking forward to hearing what you bring this year!
Greetings, Almighty Dark One.
Dig deep, my fellow Corvidae. See you on the other side.
Good luck with the new album! Looking forward to your new stuff mid-month!
Good luck with the recording - Looking forward to hear you mid-Feb then 😀
Good luck for your studio trip! And I'll be waiting and hoping to hear some FAWMing from you 😀
Hey, thanks for the welcome! I did FAWM way back in 2011 or 2012 (or was it both?) with a different username - and I definitely remember being blown away at the quality of your metal.
I'm actually in a similar position right now - geared up to do all the instruments and vocals of a complete metal song, *apart from* the drums. I remember drums were the only instrument you weren't doing yourself. I would love to do the drums myself, but lack the room for a kit. So digital drums it is... Now, if only I can create songs as good as yours, I'll be golden. 😁
Looking forward to your art!! I'm all ears!!
Thank you for the shout-outs, kind sir! Now make my ears bleed, please. 😀
Have a great FAWM and best of luck for your album! Just don't go overboard on the synths; might not hear your guitar in all that madness 😁 hehe.. oh, and the brass section you wanted? Might not work with your overall image
* Wraps you in a big hug *
No, I don't care if it destroys your demonic and metal-fueled reputation.
I'm hugging you anyway.
Hello again Sapient
May the FAWM be with you
What's poppin', brochacho!
Firstly, good luck with the album recording 😀
But more importantly, Happy Fawming !! I am really looking forward to hearing more of your music - I love it 😀
SAP!!! Good to see you here. hope your February RAWKS!!!
Just got to get 40 kilos of coffee beans and I'm shiny. 😀
Good to see you back in dark and haunting form.
May your February screams fill the nightmares of children, and bring them lovingly into the chilling embrace of metal.
I'll ready my fallout shelter for when you arrive on these shores. 😁
Hi. Good luck with the album.
Hooray for new album shenanigans! I'll keep the Marshall stack warm for you.
Mary a one it appears. Even in quotes.
Ack! It edits out the left side slash! Can there be no rock hands this year? "m/"
Dang it. I meant m/of course. 😀
