I've become burned out on music. I've made a few rules for myself to get back to a point where music is exciting and inspiring. It's something of a music fast:
1. No more performances. I've systematically quit all of the bands I'm in because playing in four bands simultaneously burned me out creatively quickly.
2. No more shows. That is, I will no longer attend shows. I will especially not attend a show if it's for purely social reasons (which disqualifies just about every local show). The one exception to this rule is if the show is for a band I'm very, very excited about (like in my top 10 of all time).
3. No more songwriting/recording. The idea here is that if I starve myself from my primary creative outlet, I will eventually want (or even need) to express myself so much that I will have what I need to start writing again. Obviously this rule is off as soon as it fulfills its purpose.
As a result, I will not be participating in FAWM this year.
