3rd year for me don't know how much I'll be participating this year, got some stuff going on, that may take my "free" time.
Let see, what's happened since last year, I put a band together, with a drummer and bassist that I've known for years, we're not the greatest players and we are fully aware of this (read as; 0 drama, I'm too old for that shit). We do 1/2 originals and half covers (more interpretations, than covers, really, certainly not note for note). All the originals are songs I've written (a lot from FAWM the past 2 years) and we are going into the studio later this month to record some of the (hoping to get 4 done) so that's pretty exciting.
And the invert on the excitement scale, by the time FAWM is over this year, I will be divorced (unless there are some unforeseen complications). over the past year I meet 2 fellow FAWMers @owl with her band Gentle Brontosaurus and last night (briefly) @carleybaer , I hope to meet more of ya in the next year. Last year I recruited 1 person @arodee but, she was a disappointment and did not write anything. I'm kidding here, she is really very talented and I'm sure she will come up with something, this year I'm giving shit, because I'm a shit giver (don't invite me to your birthday party).
I may have enlisted another friend (though I don't see him yet)
I also made mention of FAWM to gruop of guitar players that I occaisonally get together with (we'll see if any join). Update 1 joined @cassidente
Good Luck everybody (and in case you didn't notice, yes, I am addicted to parenthesis).
Last year, I made it early this year 98th Place woohoo top 100. I managed 15 new songs 2 instrumentals and 3 collaborations by midnight on the 28th.
Here is my original blurb from 3 years ago
Been Playing guitar for like a hundred years (I'm old). Just heard about this a couple of days before it started last year, thought I'd give it a go. I'm a procrastinator by trade, so this will be a challenge for me.

Thanks for commenting on my songs, and especially for the compliments! I am especially glad that you enjoyed Charles Bridge, as that one has become my favorite of all the songs I wrote for the FAWM challenge as well.
Thanks for taking the time to share your process on those poetry songs. I found it really fascinating. It sounds like quite a process, but the outcome is worth it! Looks like you've really rocketed through with songs since I last visited!
not sure if you can see me tagging you under my own songs Oo anyway, part 4+5 have uploaded demos. my drummer is awayfor the weekend, he will make a propper mix with drums next week i hope 😀
thanks a lot for appreciating the weirder part of my fawm 😀
Yea, that guy's stuff is great... Thanks for letting me know.
And in other news, I have found one more in a growing list of FAWMers that were dropped last year from my Watchlist by the improved FAWM site programming. I can't figure out a rhyme or reason to who was dropped, but you've been added again, lol. Thanks FAWM.
One of my all-time favorite fawmers!!! Always excited when a new song from you shows up on SoundCloud (especially during those 'other' months, when my fawm-spirit supply starts running low). Keep on keepin' on...
(((((here are some extra parenthesis to enable your addiction)))))
Cool, I'll grab it tomorrow! Thanks!
can't find the download link from Soundcloud, is it turned on?
Also, I want the mp3. how do I download it?
Excellent!!!! If I were mixing, I'd probably boost my vocals slightly and boost the backing vocals quite a lot, but it sounds great as is. Your vocal sounds very good and serious, as befits a serious topic. Thanks for the collab and the chance to raise awareness.
Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your work again this year. Thanks for the great tunes!
No problem. We have 20 hours left! Plenty of time.
Aww that's ok! I kinda missed you too. Thanks for stopping by and listening to some of my tunes. It means a lot! I have to catch up on yours too. I think you have disappeared from my watchlist as have several others this year!
Congratulations on making it to the Century Club! 😀
Thanks for listening to "Gasoline", that was a fun one. Instead of bouncing and overdubbing, I had the guitar on while I was singing the vocal, and let the vocal mic pick it up. I needed to have the guitar on the edge of feedback and the vocal still audible, so repositioned stuff until it seemed to work.
Ok, great! Just as Iong as you've downloaded. Lmk if anything needs redoing, once you have the chance to listen.
Hey! just checking to see if you got those vocal tracks ok?
Thank you for commenting on my German song "hallo, hallo"! sorry I did not spend much time with the English translation, just threw the test in google-translated and smoothed out the worst glitches... of course you're right, I missed that one.
a radish is a tomato and when you have none left, you feel horrible. you feel like the devil lives in your laundry room.
when you have zero radishes, it feels like a spiderweb is your boyfriend. it's the worst feeling in the world.
it's been many years, and new radishes have crawled into my garage. but the hurt that comes from having zero that first time stays with you forever.
i don't know what the future will bring, but no matter what happens, a radish is a type of scarlet meatball that lives in the mud. it tastes like salad, it tastes like meatballs, it's the world's only vegetable, and at the end of the day, isn't that all that matters?
a living skeleton drove to my house in a mid-sized sedan and begged me to dangle a radish in front of his face. i told him "sorry, bone bag, but i don't have any radishes left," and as punishment, the living skeleton made my eyes move closer together so that my family wouldn't recognize me.
a radish is the blood-red eyeball of god, and i do put it in my salad. it grows in the ground, it gets made by oysters in the ocean.
the night that i learned i had no radishes, jesus christ, the son of god, crawled out of my air duct to show off his new nike sneakers. and i was just so miserable that i could do was stuff him back into my air duct.
when christ crawled out of my air duct, i wanted to tell him how cool his shoes were, but i was so sad about having zero radishes that i could only kiss his shoes a couple of times and then stuff him back into my air duct. a radish is a type of jewel that tastes like a salad.
a radish is a tomato and when you have none left, you feel horrible. you fee
glass of water.
The first time that you see your garage has no radishes in it, that's when you know that the devil is the king of your city and lives to make life nasty for humanity.
i had to change the neon sign outside my house from saying "i've always had radishes" to "i've never had radishes" and then i had to throw that sign in the garbage because it was inaccurate. i have had radishes in teh past, i just didn't have them at hte moemnt.
i called up my boss and said "a radish is a kind of red ball and i don't have them anymore" and my boss said "you are fired from my life. do not come to work anymore and do not walk around near my house."
i called up my boss and i said here's a riddle for you, what's the difference between radishes and an angel that kisses my wife?" and my boss said "what" and i said "i don't have any radishes in my garage" and my boss said "never be part of my office ever again"
a living skeleton drove to my house in a mid-sized sedan and begged me to dangle
the first time I ran out of radishes, yes, I remember It was like being in a nightmare
You want to know about my first time not having one of a radish nearby? it was a painful experience.
A radish is a type of nut. it is a meat. It is a type of nut. I will always remember the first time I had zero left. it was the worst day of my life.
I went into the garage to yell at my radishes because they hadn't come to life and eaten me. But then i saw I didn't have any radishes left. that's when i knew the universe was made out of chaos and bullshit.
i was tucking my son into bed when he said to me mommy, let's see those magnificent radishes we've got. so i carried my son into the garage to look at the radishes and then i saw that time had stolen my radishes away. when he saw that the radishes were gone, he immediately died.
i asked the doctor to x ray my head to see if my radishes were hiding inside there. but when they did the x-ray, all they found inside my skull was a small glass of wat
I listened to all of your songs, Pipewrench (less overwhelming when there's only a few). You write some fantastic imagery in your songs. I noted that you were reading poets, Poe, Robinson and Longfellow. Were your images inspired by them or did you paraphrase them in places? Curious because it makes for really impressive lyrics on all of them. Your music and emotive vocals of course enhances the impact. They just strike a deep chord in the emotions.
Do you have a transcript of the video somewhere? if not i'll watch again later and write it down so nothing important gets missed.
My preferred keys are usually C, D, and F but that's only because of the instruments I usually play 😀 depends where the melody goes also, in terms of my vocal range. do you have a preference?
i'll try to work on it this weekend. I'm thinking very sad spare slow acoustic duet? you do the guitar and I'll do some mournful organ maybe? alternating vocals, soaring harmonies on the chorus. DEEP RADISH FEELINGS
Thx for the comment re: Elephant. Tom Waits, TMBGiants, Silverstein, what a troika! And kudos to you for your latest efforts; am very much enjoying them. (Wm from WdeSacra)
Thank you so much for posting those videos on Hook Line and Sinker. Very interesting. I enjoyed watching both of them.
Re drums on Christine: It's all played with a MIDI controller but I used to play drums when I had a set so that helps in attempting to get an authentic sound. Still, I miss my acoustic set.
Well alrighty then..cool thanks!
Uh.... yeah......nice link. From Soundcloud? Mike Judge was so right with his movie Idiocracy.
Hello and thank you so much! Late reply, sorry. Hove you have fun, too!
About "stealing" songs: go ahead wheb you find something you want!
Sorry for being the most inactive feedback giver, I have had loads of school work... I will make it better during weekend!
Not at all. the four men I admire the most: the father, the son, and hall and oates
Thanks for your kind comments on "Days Of Borrowed Time"...
I've gone to the link again but all I can see is this message...
"This track was not found. Maybe it has been removed"
Thanks for the feedback BTW, really appreciate it 😀
Really digging your space travel song. Such a great soundscape.
I was listening to some traditional african music, mainly for the rhythms, and came up with a 5/4th rhythm on the guitar, but in a bass-slapping kind of style. And I put paper between the strings, that gives a very nice percussive sound.
Sounds good. Here its 3pm, If I'll make it, I send you an idea tonight, of a rhythm pattern, so in around 9 hours 😀
That sounds good, to take inspiration from a specific culture. Do you have something in mind? If so, start with it and I take over. The other way around is also fine for me. I could do some african/indian sounding tunes with my stuff. You also sing and do lyrics in this collaboration right? I am exited 😀
one million million million million million million million.....escudos!
Thanks! Your list of influences is pretty interesting, too. Happy FAWMing!
Okay I'll go post the lyrics! Chords too? 😀 y-all can play along!
Love your username/avatar, hope to hear some music soon!
What stupid comment? Thinking maybe you meant someone else??
Thanks loads for the listen and the comment, Paul. 😀
Thanks! Best of luck for FAWM this year
Thank you for the kind welcome. Have a good day! 😀
Yay Roy Harper indeed! I've just been given a load of his albums for inspiration 😀 Happy FAWMing!
Thanks for the welcoming words! Downsville is a real place(though not much of one, blink and you'll miss it kind of deal). Can't wait to hear some of your stuff, dig your influences!
Just imagine if King Crimson had started off with Robert & Greg on guitars with John on bass!
Hey there, welcome back! <3
Thanks for the aloha!! Grateful for the connection 😀
Hi friend! Super sorry to hear about your big life changes, hope your little one is hanging in there ok. Looking forward to hearing some new tunes from you this month, gotta see your new band soon! Come play in Madison!
Burp! Celebrating the pending launch of FAWM Wisconsin style! Enjoy the creative madness!
Hey pipewrench, thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Good luck to you!
Hi Paul. Here's to a great FAWM 😀
Silly me. In order to log into my site, you only need to provide your credit card details to prove you're over 18. Oh, and we take a small donation to check, then hand it back. Unless it ends up as a larger donation that somehow went wrong. Unless you'd consider being a VIP sponsor?
OK ! Anyone who has "Leonard Cohen" as an influence, is a Friend of mine 🎼
Hi! Best of luck with FAWM 😀
Wow! Thanks for that link. 😀
It's going down brilliantly with my first bucket of coffee of the day! 😁
Yes it is Ernst. Good spot. I took that photo at an exhibition in Sete, France last year. Hope you have a great Fawm
Nice to meet you on Friday! Thanks for coming to the show. Can't wait to hear what you come up with!! 😀
Wow, now that bit of gloating was unnecessary...hehe, just kidding. That must've been great! I still don't know why that album gets less acclaim than 2112.
Helsinki's snowy and drowsy, I'm sharpening my songwriting claws and trying to nick a better microphone for February...
Good question. I'm aiming for 14, but it just depends. I have low standards to maintain after all 😀
Amen to that! Cheers!
Debauchery? What a great compliment! Thank you kindly sir! Also looking forward to your fine wine and whiskey.
I used to love watching his tricks when I was learning Excel. 😀
Hello yourself! Not long to go now.....
Hey! Thanks for saying hello... hello back at you! Looking forward to hearing your songs.
