Bio

Depending on which google result you select, Phil Norman is either an MMA fighter, an interior designer, a writer of books about the Beatles, a west-coast jazz man, or a guy who lives in southwest Virginia and likes to write songs.

Some but not all of those Phil Normans remember Heinlein saying something along the lines of "specialization is for insects."

Hey Phil,

This seems as good a time as any to finally say what's been on my mind the last couple of weeks: I just want to thank you for leaving such specific and positive comments on so many of my songs. Part of doing FAWM for the first time has been the ongoing attempt to figure out what I'm trying to do as a songwriter, and having you zero in on some of the elements I myself am most satisfied to have brought to the surface here has really helped me feel like what I'm doing is working. Plus, from the get-go it alerted me to *your* songs, which have been some of my favorite ones here!

I am a massive wheel of time fan (and in particular mat and his band of the red hand), and ran across ur version of Dance with Jak o' the Shadows.

i am desperate to get a copy of this song from you... and was just wondering how to go about this... i can download the link from this site, but can only play it when i am online.

Thanks for the DI info, Phil -- for clean it does seem that jazz sounds are the way to go -- I've been using a Fender Deluxe Reverb plug in (having played the real thing in a guitar shop last week -- pricey but cool!) which is known for clean, and cranking up the ol' neck pickup for a bit of warmth ...
