Bio

Fawm 2012 (#5 for me)
@ 16th Feb - Can't keep up this year. I have things in the pipeline but just don't have the time to record them and I'm away tommorrow evening + Saturday. sad

I'll be keen to make use of a recently purchased Hofner President archtop acoustic guitar so some acoustic jazz-pop will be winging this way.
Collabs - I'm open to persuasion although beware my control-freak tendancies! If you have some lyrics I could be tempted to have a go at putting them to music.

Wow, man every song here is a gem. This is truely an album in one month - pretty much ready to press and ship (or click and upload actually).

I've been listening on my commute all week. Thanks!
  • xnonentityy 2 months ago
I'm so sorry I never got back to you! Just got a chance to listen to your take on "Salt" -- I love it! It's so chill! The piano part was wicked cool with the synth. Looooved it. Put it up as a collab!
  •  rhymetime 2 months ago
    I can't think...you've broken my brain...
I've gone insane from the pleasure I gain
    I could never complain...

This songs a BOMB! made to blow my mind
It's a trap, to set me free, so I can be
    a one of a kind

It will carry me far without a car
    cause I've music inside
Oh what a ride, oh what a slide

For I'm the one who's free
There's no one can stop, not even a cop
    The crazy in me

I own the world , my flag's unfurled
I'm one with you, And I give thanks to
this crazy song before I'm gone

This rhyme is nothing more my enthusiasm
for this great song! Thank you!,
    Annie

Drunken stupor or not, it was a damned pleasure working with the infamous Oddbod. I had way too much fun, and I'm honoured to have played a part.
    *raises glass*
  •  evelbist 3 months ago
well, i may be nuts for recognizing doorbangers, but anyone who names his guitars "The Hof" or "El Presidente" is equally crazy tongue
  • timothybracken 3 months ago
Ah! I couldn't leave it alone...added some harpsichord, organ, and tiny piano riff at the end. Now it's out there!
  • timothybracken 3 months ago
What a pleasure shaping that song into something with you! You really made the whole thing come together.
  •  rhymetime 3 months ago
    I understand all you said
    about time, time , time
I hope one day we'll have enough to play
    with rhyme, rhyme, rhyme
I already changed the words a bit out of a jazz fit
    Cause I knew, knew, knew
Due to your schedule and pressures it would be
    too much to do, do,do
You're such a dear to come and hear
the tunes on my thread, thread, thread
You gave so much with your graceful touch
kissing them on the head, head, head
they sleep with a smile since you came a while
and tucked them into bed, bed, bed.zzzzzzzzzz
    xxAnnie

Dear Mr. Oddbod, we appreciate your concern.
    We will take immediate action.

Mr. Slade as well as a group of viscous hellhounds have been sent to the address you left at the end of your note.

Wherever you can look - wherever there's a fight, so hungry people can eat, Toweligator will be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, Toweligator will be there. Toweligator will be in the way guys yell when they're mad. Toweligator will be in the way kids laugh when they're hungry and they know supper's ready, and when the people are eatin' the stuff they raise and livin' in the houses they build - Toweligator will be there, too.
  • kenjku 3 months ago
    Loving your music. It's refreshing!
  • muk1 3 months ago
    Thanks man!
  • kiwafruit 3 months ago
Thanks for thecomments on "Lose Myself" and "Midnight Rain". I'm loving playing with diminisheds and 6ths and sus and maj7 chords at the moment...
Do you wanna trance-ify Lose Myself kinda like you pop-ified Come On Down in 50/90? I can send you the individual tracks.... You've *quite* the talent for production jiggers-pokery, whereas I'm quite inept and bereft of appropriate instruments...
  • roydesmet 3 months ago
Actually I only asked gslade and marklberry.
And then you and calumcarlyle and I migt ask 1 more.

I'm not a native speaker and I'm studying English, so I'd like my British to be....
Well, perfect is impossible, but I'd settle for 'good'.
So, hence the asking for feedback.
  •  rhymetime 3 months ago
I want to participate but have been under pressure to finish editing my husbands autobiography. It is a never ending job.
I shall try to get something up. I hoped I would see you again. I tried writing to you yesterday and found I lacked your email..Thanks so much for leaving me an encouraging message. It fires up the engines a bit.. All the best from a new old friend, Annie
  • roydesmet 3 months ago
Hey there, can I ask you a favour?
I have this song which is a spoken sonnet recorded over some music. Both written by myself.
Could you provide me feedback on my pronunciation and the like? I know RP, if that helps.

    This is the song *23796
    Thanks in advance!
  •  michaelepic 3 months ago
lol Joey can't make the beats as fast as I write the songs, bro.
  •  steffan 3 months ago
It is EzDrummer! And I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids! Though to make up for that blatent use of popular samples: The percussion samples on "Rope" are all sounds I sampled myself using a homemade contact microphone. Ya know - for indie cred. smile
  • din 3 months ago
What settings might you be referring to, Mr. Bod? It is difficult for me to fix something when all goes well for me and my only suggestion is vague. I have however checked all settings on the account and the individual file, and unless you wanted to see my e-mail address or send me a private message, I'm afraid they were of no use. Thank you.
  •  mattpierce 3 months ago
Thanks for the comment on "Gift of a gun!"
    Its much appreciated! smile
  •  natchdan 3 months ago

  •  oddbod 3 months ago
Thanks for all the comments so far, lovely people. I am back at work today sad but I shall be popping along to all your pages for a listen as soon as poss.
  •  songsville 3 months ago
Nice to hear it! I have an old Hofner-style violin bass I put flatwounds on and it's pretty snazzy for a bit of jazzy stuff ... maybe we should get them to play together sometime?
  •  simonwaldram 3 months ago
Thanks for the song comment smile
  •  orinoco 3 months ago
Thanks for your comment - you're right about the bass. But the bass was upstairs and I was downstairs, you know how it is! I'll probably add some at some point. Right, off to listen to your latest...
  • stephenwordsmith 3 months ago
    I suspected you were smile

Your comment did intrigue me, however. I had read about the children being told to get into that position, but never figured out exactly what it was. A cursory google search led me straight to the PM (who, incidentally, also killed the 'planking' craze in New Zealand stone dead.

Right, I'll get off your soundboard now.
  • stephenwordsmith 3 months ago
Hi, oddbod, and thanks for commenting.

Your point about the turtles is certainly valid from an anatomical point of view. However, it is compatible with kneeling, as demonstrated by our dear prime minister:

Can't believe I haven't popped over to say hi this year. HI! Can't wait to have a dance to some of your terrific ditties
  •  artslut 3 months ago
Hey there I listened to a number of you songs. The production value was aspirational, well done, and I liked your use of vocal textures. I look forward to popping back and hearing more when I have some time.
  • scottlake 3 months ago
Tim, one thing I've always forgotten to mention to you. Years ago you used the term 'knackered' describing a ships piano soundfont or something. First time I had ever seen that word used and now I find myself saying it to confused looking Americans.
  • psyt 3 months ago
Hello Tim, have a good FAWM. smile

"Penelope" was, and still is, awesome Tim!
It's my favorite song that's not in my MP3 player (haven't figured out how to download a "download here" song yet). LOL
  •  girlsinuniform 3 months ago
    Oh my god. It's Oddbod.
Thought I'd step by and give you a nod.
Is he a rocker? Is he a mod?
Not really either. He is Oddbod.
  •  dasbinky 3 months ago
I checked my iTunes last week, and "Hey Emo Kid, Why So Sad" had 247 plays.

Well done, sir. Looking forward to another incredible set of tunes.
  •  mikedebenham 3 months ago
Likewise, Tim. Always a treat to hear you. And yeah, it's kind of crazy we've never managed a proper collab after all these years. Time's scarce this Feb, but I could try banging up some lyrics in one of the weeks I'll be away from my music gear. Or if you find yourself with a stray instrumental looking for some words...
  •  bking 3 months ago

FAWM cookbook, eh? Add your influences in a bowl, shake and bake for 41 760 minutes.

    How are you doing? big_smile
Might be interesting to work with another control-freak. That might fill a year full of soap opera.

I've actually had Ring Them Bells stuck in my head for the WHOLE YEAR. So much so that I transcribed the chords and taught myself the song, AND shared it with a friend who's into folk who also enjoyed it. Keen to hear your output this year!
  •  steffan 4 months ago
Excited, as always, to see you back.
