Artist Bio

Year 3!
I used to look forward to February for my birthday, but that is increasingly less interesting. So happy that FAWM has stepped in to Make February Great Again.
This year, I hope to write 14 songs, use a meter other than 4/4, and take part every day.
I've been playing ukulele for 3 years and play almost every kind of music except Hawaiian.

Week 1 update: I'm on track for the big 14; I've at least listened and commented every day; I'm still working on that alternate meter.
Week 2: falling behind on songs—hard to write away from home. Did a 3/4 song—not too ambitious but at least not 4/4.
Week 3: Thank you fellow FAWMers for the ego boosts and wonderful comments. It's very inspiring, and I'm no longer falling behind on songs.
Week 4: I think I'll get to 14 this year, for the first time! I can't believe how much I want the silly trophy by my name.
Feb. 26--A trophy with two days to spare! And I managed all 4 weekly challenges.

Hi Diane! Yes, I saw the CDs had got to you on the tracking info (I'm not paranoid! I just watch the UPS like a hawk!!) Thank you so much for your support in the Kickstarter, and I'm glad your choice of bonus meets with your approval now you've heard it! It's becoming terribly difficult to deal publicly with both the manic Flying Tadpole persona and the soft and introspective Tim Fatchen one--I'm trying Kickstarter for the FT spread while Patreon basically concentrates on the Tim Fatchen side. I haven't been able to do much listening at all on FAWM; trying to slot a little in this week and at least make 100 before I disappear. Are you doing 50/90 this year?

Awesome!!! My college doible major was art history and human biology with an emphasis in music (Flute). Then I went to medical school. Finally coming back and finding the arts in me!

Thanks for the Tree-check! Ah, yes, the fights between trying to keep the staves and notes readable but also on two pages max! Every song has slight differences in typesetting!

  • @suziewithaz  Feb 27

I appreciate all the comments and reviews you definitely made my first FAWM special. Thank you.

  • @phoenixash Feb 27

It is a great song, this one you've made. thanks for the comment. Pets should live forever

  • @phoenixash Feb 27

Hey, just to let you know that I'm in love with Grammar Police, I kept coming back to it and it made me smile everytime

  • @timfatchen  Feb 27

Childes Garden--have you printed out? (all my gear is A4, so I couldn't run a proper print test for the Letter size it's actually formatted at.)
Re the 14 songs: that was actually 8 days output, and no lyrics. THere are lyrics but no tune for a solitary FT number but time is a problem. And I want to listen to a bit more. It would be nice to leave 100 comments, a far cry from the >1000 of a couple of years ago, but that was almost fulltime for the whole month!

  • @sbs2018 Feb 26

Thanks for your comment on the chorus!

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 26

That would be great - go with the vibe that speaks to you and feels right in your pocket - that's what will make it become a beautiful song!

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 26

Try to get a shoe off a kid who had been drinking or not in the car and throw one shoe and sometimes one sock out of the car on some country highway

  • @abudabard12514  Feb 24

Nooo! My ears! I thought it was iv. I've shamed my musical heritage Now I gotta commit seppuku. Man...

  • @scubed  Feb 23

Thanks so much for your comments on my songs!

  • @wacha  Feb 23

Thank you for your kind words on "Lady Jane".

I actually have a copy of her original work out record which I bought to be funny and hang on my wall but gave it a try and found it's a pretty decent work out.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 22

Oh! So gorgeous!!! I love it so much! I am very grateful for the tenderness and timelessness of the song you created from my words! Thank you for bringing them to life!!

  • @zecoop  Feb 22

Complete truth! I have tried so many times to play without a pick and finger picking is apparently just not at all in the cards for me. And with a pick, I can't be nearly as precise as people who fingerpick. Yours sounded wonderful. I even tried it on uke last night, thinking that might be easier than guitar... nope. 😀

  • @phoenixash Feb 22

Thank you very much for you're comment on my song. It made me laugh SO SO SO hard... yep, currently enslaved by one as well, they already are our overlords, we just don't realize... shhhh let's not let them know we are on to them

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 20

Just wanted to let you know that someone else just informed me that they out music to my In the Silence lyrics that I was hoping you were still going to do. I am totally fine with you putting music to them as well but wanted to let you know that someone else is as well. Usually people ask first and I would have said it was taken but in this case they just sent the music. I suspect your version will be different.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 18

    I would love that!

  • @cindyrella  Feb 18

Sure! And that change is fine! Looking forward to it.

  • @suziewithaz  Feb 2018

Thanks for the suggestion on my Klingon Lullaby. Heavy bass indeed! Plus 6/8 time. Vocals thru a toilet paper tube! (It was a dare, but turned out to be a hoot to write!) I tried to set a personal goal to challenge myself to write different genres of songs. It seems like you are writing a great variety, too. Love your stuff!

  • @arthurrossi Feb 2018

Hey! I would like to thank you so much for bringing these words to life in such a gorgeous way... I like the melody very much and the banjolele was a lovely choice for this. Also, your voice sounds really nice (despite the cold)! Thank you so much for this beautiful song! I am very happy how it turned out...

  • @arthurrossi Feb 2018

Thanks so much for your kind comment on "The mountains of Arkansas"! I would be very happy if you gave it a try... Please, feel free to alter any words and parts the way you like...

  • @cynthiawolff  Feb 2018

Hi you mentioned you are recording single takes on your phone...
I have downloaded a free app called Spire which is a very easy to use recording device and you can record 8 tracks or 1 or 4...super fun!!!!
try it...like i said its free and if i can figure it out any one can...so you can overdub your uke ( a couple of times) voices anything...have fun this Fawm...so far such a blast...I'm loving it.

  • @gogoshire Feb 2018

    I also play uke!

  • @arthurrossi Jan 2018
