I grew up in Austin, TX, listening to Steve Fromholz and Willie Nelson. Also, disco was big, as I recall. I discovered punk in the eighties, and I've wasted a great deal of energy playing punk music. While I love it, I'm not terribly good at it, since Willie and Steve don't translate well to the stylings The Ramones or even The Minutemen. Fortunately, I discovered Neil Young and Tom Petty, and I'm slowly coming back to my roots and finding them appreciable.
