Bio

I try to have fun with my music because I'm pretty bad at expressing myself and every time I try to do so with music, I get so caught up in the emotion I'm trying to express that I lose sight... or.... sound of the song I'm working on. So my main focus is dance.

Hi mooing! I finally got around to updating the fawmcasts! big_smile

  • aardvarkk 3 months ago
Xenogears eh?! Well, it sounds like a really critically well-received game, so I guess that means my music can't be all that bad. I'll definitely have to check that game out! Thanks for listening!
  •  errol 3 months ago
Ya... The fawmcast... Darn it! I'll tell you when I get it up
  •  errol 3 months ago
Alllooo moooing menace. Uh... I didn't do what I said I would do. Darn it.

And btw, thanks for the comment on the song! I am so woefully behind on commenting. sad
  •  ptr 3 months ago
Hey, like what you done with your remix of my track! And I'm happy being tagged, makes sense I guess. I tweaked the title just in case any other people create remixes of it and I also create a direct link so that it can be streamed from this website. Hope you're cool with that smile
  • injerabreath 3 months ago
Ok, so this is what I came up with. Do whatever you want with it and we can reupload or leave it be or whatever. I can send the main drum track solo if you want to remix it and work from there. Otherwise I am happy with what it is for what it is given the equip I am working with at the moment. It's hard for me to tell what it really sounds like. These laptop speakers are terrible, but in the headphones the bass fills it out nicely....

If you search youtube for "islands return to the sea" you'll find some stuff from their first album (which is incredible). Here's a couple:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpQwZ_gdE1w
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2SSIcG8FH4

Not the best quality, but great songs. You can hear their previous Unicorns "sound" a bit.
  • kristi 3 months ago
Thanks for your comments on “Find a Way.” It all helps in the writing process, as my writing is always a work it progress! And thanks for explaining that “whispering.” Interesting to hear how creative you can be experimenting with the music like that. Yeah, I think feedback between writers is invaluable, actually, with the exchange of ideas, etc. Music libraries would likely always be looking for “soundtrack” type stuff.
  • musuko 3 months ago
No worries on the soundboard, that's what its for!

Yeah I've only seen the anime, but it was so refreshing compared to a lot of other stuff out there. I'd love to see more if they would make it. I haven't watched anything in a long time...

Speaking of the Unicorns, have your heard any of the Islands stuff? Really good too. Often has some Unicorns feel, but goes it some other awesome directions as well.

I wish I had the time to sit down with Ableton more. Good stuff, but I already have plenty on my plate with Renoise and Logic. Both very different (from each other and Ableton) but a lot of fun to work with.

Watchlisted you, so I'll be back around. smile

Now that I think of it, I apparently accidentally stole a melody from the song that plays at Shinra HQ. Well, as Picasso once said, "good artists copy, great artists steal". big_smile
  • kristi 3 months ago
Hi Mooing. Hey, thanks so much for your very nice comments on those 2 lyrics. You wouldn't believe the words/phrases I question (to myself), and your thoughts are very helpful! I will comment on your songs a bit later when I have time to listen.
  • musuko 3 months ago
Haha yes! Beck/MCS and The Unicorns. You sir have good taste. (Except for the Skrillex part tongue)
  •  gman 3 months ago
Thanks for the comments on 'I can’t go to heaven tonight' they were some of nicest things I have ever heard. I hope you have a great FAWM!
  •  errol 3 months ago
    YOU LISTENED! HUZZAH!

    Ya, sorry about that.

And yes, there is a download from the same page. I will probably put it on the wiki and on @dailyfawmcast tomorrow. big_smile
  •  errol 3 months ago
    Allloo!!

    Here is the thread:

  •  errol 3 months ago
BTW, I plan on playing your song tonight on the fawmcast. big_smile
  •  errol 3 months ago
WHAT? YOU HAD AN INTELLIVISION TOOO!!! HUZZZAHHHH!!! big_smile

That made me all sorts of excited! *LAUGH*

And yes, when you count in binary, the first finger is 2^1 and the second finger (middle finger) is 2^2 ... which is 4. big_smile
  •  heavyhedonist 3 months ago
Thanks for the link-- it gives me ideas.
  •  donkimmusic 3 months ago
Thanks for the comment. I'm blasting your stuff in the office and I'm getting some weird looks but it's worth it.
  • injerabreath 3 months ago
I'll try to work some wizardry with that and send it back at you. we can ping pong it that way adding layers and modifying. I am not at my home base this week, but I wanted to keep up with FAWM so I am working with my roland sampler, a kaossilator and an Sk-1 synth. This computer is archaic so I won't be doing any programming at the moment. (I can't say that I'll be able to adhere to a 140bpm framework, but let's just see what happens) I'll be borrowing a digital recorder in a day or so, then I'll be able to upload again, thus why i've fallen behind.
  • injerabreath 3 months ago
Dang that glitch patch looks cool. Alas I am a MAC user. but yea. I'd be down for a collab. any ideas?
  •  tiedyehero 3 months ago
WORD indeed. Lots of good memories jamming to Not In Love on the way into Denver at sundown
  •  tiedyehero 3 months ago
crimewave is sick. I really like the song they did with Robert Smith too I think it's called Not In Love
  •  tiedyehero 3 months ago
i'm checking out rushjet now. I've heard of Mindless Self Indulgence they are okay
  •  tiedyehero 3 months ago
that's so cool. I like bands that use sounds like that. Crystal Castles comes to mind.
  •  tiedyehero 3 months ago
but i've never heard of 6502 assembly language so, we're even wink
  •  tiedyehero 3 months ago
    thanks for the comment.
    http://themandolinn.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/theloar_mandolin1.jpg
    that's a mandolin.

You're right, I think I need to put mandolin over all my other demos probably.
  •  vomvorton 3 months ago
Ha, it's pretty nuts! I like the effects-laden section at the end. I see what you mean on the timing on the second verse but apart from that it's pretty solid!
  •  daddyschu 3 months ago
    Mooooooooooooooo!!! Thanks for the comment
I really DO love dogs! (Hint: Look at my pic)
  • injerabreath 3 months ago
Awesome! I may be a wizard, I cannot say this with certitude. Yea, the pressure is on when making songs for this. especially when doing electronic production. sittin there singing and strumming guitar is a different story, but real production takes time.
  •  vomvorton 3 months ago
I'd like to hear it! But don't spend too much time over further remixing if you would like to spend your time on FAWM, it's all cool. Whatever you do, I consider a favour - so do what you want and don't do what you don't want smile
  •  vomvorton 3 months ago
hey menace de la moo! did you manage to come up with anything on the dog scientists front? no worries if not, of course - just curious!
  •  wyatt 3 months ago
    Welcome Moo
Yep on the diversity of talents and genres here
Lots of opportunities to try a little different direction
  • embersofautumn 4 months ago
Thank you for the watch. Should be a good year.
  •  gslade 4 months ago
ha..thanks for the listen yo...good luck in feb!
  • embersofautumn 4 months ago
You listed Yasunori Mitsuda as an influence and NOT Nobuo Uematsu!

I'll consider that a mindslip on your part o.O...

Oh, and watchlist'd. Looking forward to seeing what you can do.
  •  gslade 4 months ago
Welcome to FAWM 2012 and FAWM in general. I'm G Slade, resident hip hop/rap/synth pop guy. I'll be doing more listening than writing this month, so I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to contribute this year.

    Good luck in Feb!
  •  vomvorton 4 months ago
Hold that thought, here's a zip file of the stems as decent quality mp3s, will that be OK for you?

    http://vomvorton.co.uk/secret/DogSci.zip
  •  vomvorton 4 months ago
Hullo! Thanks for the message, I'd be really interested to see what you can do with Dog Scientists! I'll sort out the stems, how would be best to get them to you? Do you have a dropbox account? If not I can probably upload them somewhere. Just checking out your SoundCloud now, very interesting! I can't say that I've really "got" dubstep just yet, but I'm definitely intrigued by it... and also good to see a mention of The Unicorns on your influences - they were a wonderful band!
