Artist Bio

Influences:   Alison Krauss, Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, Gillian Welch, Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bach, Brahms, Mendelssohn.

I am a classically trained violinist, relatively new to playing Americana and country music, and very happy to have completed my first FAWM in 2016. I play in a country cover band and as part of the duo Smith & Ryder with fellow FAWMer wistah (who talked me into doing this songwriting thing). My true love in music is singing harmony. This year I am hindered by a torn rotator cuff, so many of my songs will be a capella or use limited instrumentation. I am using this year for song beginnings, not full productions.

Thanks Miriam. Replace the word "she" with "I" and pretend the singer is female, and then its a duet. 😀

CONGRATS ON 14!!! I am trying to make up for my poor listening time, very excited that you overcame your shoulder issue and did it anyway, I'm totally excited with your creations!!!

  • @hornesgiftshop  Feb 27

Thanks for commenting on my song "Making Up The Numbers", Mom23. "Heartworn Highways Revisited" was on TV last night (great film), so I couldn't do much else but write a country song. I see you've got one to write. Good luck, get to it, and all the best to you.

Thanks for commenting on "The Day you went away" I was thinking of doing something similar and then took the easy way out... I think I will try and come up with a new prechorus that will have the listener wondering if I got over the break up or not.. thanks for taking the time to comment!

Congratulations Centurion Soldier! You wrote 100 comments for your fellow FAWMers!! You made this place even better. You took your time to listen to other people's songs and you have 100 thank you's from all of them and from me! Here’s your badge. Excellent work and keep busting’ those zongs!!

it is about Bitcoin, yes! more specifically the fact that it was also co-opted and kidnapped by the "old capitalist establishment".

  • @treble  Feb 24

Thank you so much for your kind words on my skirmish song, "You Were There for Me." It feels wonderful to be living in so much love for 33 years. My longest relationship before that was 2 years and I had no idea this was possible.

Thank you very much for commenting on One Eye Open. I appreciate you stopping by and listening.

My wife actually started a mom's group for Mississippi on FB to allow a safe and supportive place for moms that need encouraging. It got over 200 members in just a few days. I think it's at 400 members now. I definitely believe in the effects of online communities. FAWM is another great example.

Thanks for listening to The Climb. I'm sorry you found it creepy. I obviously failed in my attempt to portray the moment of self realisation when the guy realises that he is really not right for his young lover and she deserves someone her own age. As the penultimate line hints, he is really in love with her, but he knows that in the long run this relationship is doomed. Do we really need to know the background to their romance to appreciate that she is infatuated with him and he with her, but he is willing to sacrifice his own desire for her needs?
I have known quite a few relationships that inspired this song both straight and gay.

Thanks for your comment on “Everything”. If I ever perform it live, I would love to have you go crazy with your violin on that musical bridge!!! It would be phenomenal!

  • @terriellen  Feb 2018

Thanks for listening to my song! I appreciate the kind words and suggestions! 😊

  • @fiddlerblick80 Feb 2018

Thank you so much for your words. Any time you want tips or anything about layering and such, just give me a holler!

  • @spinhead  Feb 2018

Ah, my whistle tune. I try to write 28 songs instead of 14 during FAWM, which means I reach a point where I have to throw something out there whether I'm in love with it or not. Commitment over fear. Not by much, but by enough 😉

  • @mmmmarcus  Feb 2018

Thank you very much for the nice comments on my collab with Colleen, was indeed a great one! Glad you liked it!

  • @jaegerin  Feb 2018

Thanks for the comment on my panda head song. Glad someone else knows what I'm talking about! Our game is the same version - it's just that I talk about it in British English (football meaning soccer).

  • @tan482  Feb 2018

Thanks for reading my lyrics and your heartfelt comments.

  • @colgoo  Feb 2018

    Miriam,

Thanks for your comment on “The Other Side of The World”. I laughed at your comment because my teenage daughter listened to it and said, “This song is so your style, Mom!”

The big difference is that Marcus took my thoughts and polished them to a brilliant shine. I am very happy with this collaboration! He inspires me to keep improving my musical and production skills so they don’t get in the way of sharing my music.

  • @spinhead  Feb 2018

Thank you so very much for the lovely (and specific) lyrical love on "River Song."

  • @benjo  Feb 2018

thank you so much for your very kind words on my lyric
    JUST TURN AROUND
yeah i see what you mean about the military side
mmm inspiration comes knocking THANK YOU

  • @chucknamaste Feb 2018

Thanks for your very thoughtful notes on "Pieces"! Looking forward to hearing more from you this month!

  • @spikedirection  Feb 2018

I've made it downloadable from soundcloud now. In terms of key, It's probably G, but I'm bad at music and don't really know theory, so please forgive me if that's wrong.

  • @spikedirection  Feb 2018

Thanks for your feedback on freedomesque! If you did fancy adding some violin that would be ace! Just as soon as I've got back in front of my laptop and can make it downloadable lol

  • @dutch1967 Feb 2018

Thank you so much for your kind comment on All Grown Up.

  • @mikegtz  Feb 2018

Hi Miriam, you’re off to a good start!

  • @tamsnumber4 Feb 2018

Thanks for listening to my song "Karma"!

  • @wistah  Feb 2018

Hey thanks for listening to my songs Mir! I've been trying to up my recording game, and with my new desk and a few new microphone toys I think I've stumbled on a recipe I like. Take care of yourself and heal that wing 😀 See you soon.

  • @wacha  Feb 2018

Thank you for your kind words on "Adrift". I had originally just left the space between the verses as an instrumental part of the song but felt like it needed a little something to make is feel less sparse.

  • @tamsnumber4 Feb 2018

I'm happy to see you are doing FAWM! I know you are a busy gal, but glad you are here!

  • @tan482  Feb 2018

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your lovely words!

  • @spinhead  Feb 2018

Thanks for the comment on “Don’t Want to Sleep.” Thought I’d mention that the reason for that 3rd verse lyrical shift is to nudge the listener toward what the song is really about, which apparently is non obvious.

  • @moonshadow Feb 2018

Thanks for you comment on my song,
strangely enough you were right about what the song was about,
its about my cat that i had to take to the vet to be put down last week.
I thought it would be too vague for someone else to grasp the meaning of it

  • @brrrse  Feb 2018

Thank you for your comments on Paper Boats - my son has always loved Curious George - and that is one of his favorite episodes 😀 . I guess I should tag it filk too now - since it is a song of fandom! thanks!!

  • @dutch1967 Feb 2018

Thanks for your sweet comment on Country Singing Man. I added lyrics and Liner Notes since you commented. I can so hear what you're saying about the strength in my voice. Guess it's to do with me getting a little mad when I sing that 2nd and 3rd verse and maybe I'm not sure about the 1st and the way it rhymes... Probably needs a little work. That's what March is for. 😉

  • @johnstaples  Jan 2018

    Hiya!! Happy FAWM 2018!
