Artist Bio

Influences:   the weather, whims, other people's music, love gone bittersweet

Hi. I'm Heather Kropf, and sometimes I imagine I'm a piano-based singer-songwriter. My fifth album is being released this spring and, with the exception of one song that pre-dates FAWM, they are ALL FAWM songs! I can't really get over how cool that is to me.

Anyhow, this year's goal is to play like a child, mess around, make noise, hush the inner critic, and see if I can actually get 14 done for once.

What a fun ride this is, eh? Thank you to everyone who stopped by and left a thought over the years!

Thanks for getting back. I know how life has so many things going on at the same time. Just let us know.

Hi, did you still have time to do Serenity? Let us know if so. 😀

heather, thanks so much for being the first to listen to "humans" and being so encouraging. this is going to be an off year for me, but i'm making time to listen. you're on my list!

Thanks, Heather. I'm glad you let me know about the title change to "Winter Sun" so I can find it in May, when you release it! I couldn't remember the previous title myself anyway, until Pearse brought it up, just that it had made a very positive impression on me, and that I was disappointed to lose access. It will be like the Christmas when you get what you had asked for months ago, but you didn't really remember exactly why you wanted it so much until it's right there in front of you and it's just the right thing! I feel sure, because what I love like that is pretty constant, and because you've admitted that "sexy peaceful feeling" is your aim, so it's a sure bet!! Or melancholy/sensual; that works too. 😉

Thanks for the inspiring words in your bio - as a procrastinator, "play like a child" really hits home for me.

Yup, I'm here this year. Getting a slow start, and if feels like I'm just warming up. It's been a bit of a dry spell. We'll see.

    Hello middlec,
after @alboe 's suggestion, would you be interested in singing Serenity?
That's one octave lower than the flute (which is playing a bit too high for a flute).
You do have a beautiful singing voice. What do you think? I could prepare a backing track by just removing the flute. Or replace it with something that plays in the correct octave if that helps. But I'm afraid my melody is a bit of a mess.

Hey, found pw... now to find some songs...

  • @zecoop  Feb 2

No worries.... I like all ideas! I'm not in full creativity and experimentation mode yet, so I was trying to get the song out the door, after working for 8 hours on it, lol. Also trying to find a way to tie the two parts together because I wasn't even sure if I liked the song yet. 😀

Glad you're back! Another of the wonderful class of 2011. Thanks for listening too... I used my 70's combo organ for the keyboard parts and it doesn't have a lot of sonic variety, lol. Just trying to give it a little surf vibe throughout (and grasping at straws to compose) 😀

Oh good, you're back. I listened a bit to The Weekend, which sounds lovely, and I want to go back to it when I'm not at work. Reminds me of Patty Larkin a little bit.

Yay Heather,,so lovely to hear from you....no recording gear with me so it's just an old ipad with a built-in mic.... But hey, I used to listen to the Kinks and Stones under a blanket though a ridiculously uncomfortable ear-plug thing on a transistor radio as a teenager and I thought I was in heaven..... Maybe progress is not always straight ahead...
I've nothing planned or written this year, just gonna white knuckle it through each two days.... See you there with your beautiful and useless things xo

Happy FAWMing, even with the little time you have.
