Matt, surely you have seen the original South Park movie which poses the question, "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" That's where I stole my idea from. A link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuRJSsAYxDA
  •  robs 2 months ago
Thank you for your nice comment! I've corrected the spelling mistake. You should check @plasticsoul out (while I try to find out who is Johnny Dazzles), he has a lot of Beatlesque influences and an amazing production.
  •  toms 2 months ago
5090 comes at a bad time of the year in lots of ways, but then again I'd rather be doing it than most anything else, at this point in my life. smile I've been trying to write since the end of FAWM and zilch. Zippo. Nada. Nichts.
  •  toms 2 months ago
I have no idea about messages on other folks' boards. I think you are right, however, we don't get notified. So...I've been spreading your fame far and wide without you knowing of it? smile As for 'Herbert Said" -- that is just the first part of last year's 50/90, I never got around to posting the other 40 songs (or whatever they were). I should work on that. They got better over time. smile
  •  ianuarius 2 months ago
    Thanks for the comment! smile
The "riff" is the one before the solo. yikes
  • scottlake 2 months ago
I could do a guest post I suppose for tickets to write.
  •  johnthomasmumm 2 months ago
Thanks, Matt. I appreciate the link!
  •  kallyomally 2 months ago
Thanks for your comments on Now that You're Gone. I like the key change idea and with a full band would definitely go for that... I'm working up all the material now and having a great time doing it.. the songs are sounding better and better. I have really enjoyed this project and meeting you guys.. Thanks!!
  • roydesmet 2 months ago
Thanks for your comments on my 'Run Up The Stairs'.
You should've heard the 'Scary Version'. Oh, wait. You shouldn't.
It featured electric guitar nonsense and a Darth Vader-effect vocal.
Really scary. You couldn't make sense of it at all.

I don't think there will be a protestant version tongue
Don't even have a clue of what that would sound like!
  •  iocanepower 2 months ago
Thanks for listening to us this month, Matt! Hope you enjoyed the ride. smile
  •  robs 2 months ago
You made it (told you so) smile !
  •  nicksypniewski 2 months ago
Does ANYONE love Revolution 9? If so, it ain't me.
  •  nicksypniewski 2 months ago
Hey Matt, thanks very much for the comments on You Hate Me and Call It a Day. It was, in fact, a slide in Call it A Day and I was definitely going for a George sound, so glad that came through. An no problem on the site pimping. I do go and visit every once in a while. It's a good site, except that you seem to have a penchant for hating songs I love... big_smile

    WE
    ARE
    AWESOME!
  •  downburst 2 months ago
You're very welcome! I just played it for my daughter, and she giggled all the way through it.
  •  errol 2 months ago
*laugh* Thanks Matt! I wasn't trying to get comments on that song, believe it or not! big_smile

And I WILL check out songs... definitely, don't you worry... March is my commenting month. big_smile
  • orbh 2 months ago
Thank you for your comment. Yeah, I played everything. I wish that I could have played the drums a bit tighter, but I guess it's a matter of practise. I guess that the lyrics are not too disturbing compared to many other death metal acts, but that sample taking song you mentionend sure sounds... brutal, haha.

    I'll check your songs.
  •  darcistrutt 2 months ago
Love the "end" of the cassette tape in your picture smile Thanks for giving Sexibility a listen! Glad you enjoyed it. You are just a breath away from your 14.5!
  •  toms 2 months ago
OK, I changed it & made it available to logged in FAWMers. It was set as downloadable, too. Hm. Well, this afternoon I'll try to post a full wav file. That's better anyway.
  •  toms 2 months ago
Should be downloadable under the mp3 player. I could post a big wav file somewhere, too.
  •  toms 2 months ago
Matt, you have access to the locked track, through your "my songs." But I will unlock it. The idea was for you to put lyrics & melody to it. If you don't like it, I have another that is made from found sounds. smile
  •  toms 2 months ago
    Well... big_smile
  •  headfirstonly 2 months ago
Hey Matt - I'd be delighted to do a collab. Thanks for the invite!

And my goodness - yes, that's the film. Film page duly updated!

  •  toms 2 months ago
    WHADAYA MEAN, TOO LONG?! big_smile
  •  toms 2 months ago
Man, those lyrics are totally awesome. Do all of your songs have that kind of intertextuality?

I think you ought to unlock the song, other people need to see those lyrics. They really are excellent.
  •  toms 2 months ago
Rats, it is locked even for me! I am totally intrigued by the subject matter, however.

edit: wait, I just figured it out. Awesome.

edit edit: yeah, those are great great lyrics. Totally suggestive. I think a lexicon and pronunciation key would not be amiss... big_smile
  •  fuzzy 2 months ago
Matt; no offense taken on the Nova Scotia thing - I don't even live near there!
What do you mean Nova Scotia isn't a tropical getaway? It's gotta get up to probably 20 degrees Celsius for at least a few weeks a year... smile
  • simonjcurd 3 months ago
Hey Matt, I certainly would like to, but I'm afraid I'm being so slow with the stuff I'm working on that I'm probably not going to get around to other collabs that I had already committed to! If I somehow become super productive in the next few days I'll definitely drop you a line!..
  •  toms 3 months ago
Ah...something 12 tone with shifting time signatures...played by a gamelan ensemble, using Carlos Beta...yeah, that'd be good.

Edit: or, I could indulge my well-known affinity for Rebecca Black style pop, and inflict upon you much pain and great...
  •  toms 3 months ago
Heh - now I have to find something dastardly to send you. Unfortunately, your songs reveal you to be quite versatile....hmmm.... big_smile
  • johnnycashpoint 3 months ago
Not a bad thing at all - pistols vs formby sounds like ALL music should be! Will we see you at this year's FOP? Hope so ...
  •  toms 3 months ago
Well, now, I think money is always good, but...hmm...we could each send the other something that would benefit from the other person's talents.
  •  toms 3 months ago
Collab cool, but I am notoriously unreliable. Be forewarned. Whatever it involves, it must feature your awesome playing!
  •  stevenwesleyguiles 3 months ago
Hey Matt! I just emailed you a collab idea. Just jammed it out on my iPhone and a guitar and YOUR awesome lyrics.

See what you think and get back to me later.

    Peace,

    steve

It feels good to be a role model! smile
  •  stevenwesleyguiles 3 months ago

    I hope to soon. smile
  •  charliecheney 3 months ago
    Lawsuit for royalties! Yes!
Oh wait, I had nothing to do with that song...
    WILL THAT STOP ME????
  •  johnthomasmumm 3 months ago
Sure, Matt, I thought your "Tickets to Write" was a great idea. And I stand by the idea that even someone who hates the Beatles could learn a lot of great techniques by studying them. Have you read The Songwriting Secrets of the Beatles yet? That book blew me away, though it's unfortunately out of print now.
  •  brownium 3 months ago
Matt - thanks for your comments on Psalm 23 (http://fawm.org/songs/25105/) - particularly the call out on the importance of "valley of the shadow of death" rather than "valley of death". I did a little research on it, and I think I'm comfortable with it as I have it, but I am going to ask a couple other people who are a lot smarter than me for their take on it. I've got a messy demo up there at long last this morning.
  •  jonniegrunge 3 months ago
Howdy, Matt! Thanks for your comment! Glad to hear there are more Musical Multiple Personality sufferers out there. We could start a support group!
  •  kidd 3 months ago
made a start on the collab.... ended up structuring almost a whole song... see what you think... We can always do somethin else if you think its a bit much!!....
  •  johnthomasmumm 3 months ago
Hey, I've been reading through your Beatles Songwriting Academy. Great site. I'll be keeping an eye on it.
  • chriddof 3 months ago
Hello there - the speech at the end is indeed a text reading program - an online one to be exact. It's of some woman doing an impression of the Queen.
  •  kidd 3 months ago
I love old recordings... sounds like a plan to me. Fire it over i'll give it a shot!
  •  shay 3 months ago

  • wuola 3 months ago
Hey Matt, thanks for your comments! I'll be busy next week, not sure how much time for collabs. Maybe later this month!

    Ps. Excellent influences list!
  •  cts 3 months ago

  •  robs 3 months ago
Two years of blogging about The Beatles and still he thinks he needs a whole month to record an EP. For The Beatles recording an EP was like a regular afternoon job ...
  •  fuzzy 3 months ago
Matt!! Love your Beatles blog! Glad I found you!!
  • jacindae 3 months ago
HA! I haven't, and I haven't even come up with a good title for it. Life keeps happening and stuff. LAME! Can't wait to hear your new songs this year. smile
  • simonjcurd 3 months ago
Hey there, I'll do my best. Saw you say that you were in the studio at the moment, hope it's going well - will you be done by the time Fawm starts?
