Influences: Ella Fitzgerald, Dar Williams, Debussy, Jewel, the Muppets, Evanescence, Regina Spektor, Over the Rhine,
Hello my name is Erin, aka Erin Maeflower and I am a 7th or 8th time fawmer (it's been so long I can't remember!) I used to be a busy educator working for a variety of non-profit river watershed organizations. But for the past 2 years I have been a stay at home mom to my 5-year-old daughter. She was 3 1/2 when she joined our family....and it's been the learning experience of a lifetime. She had a really rotten first few years of her life, and the trauma she experienced means that she has some special needs (primarily emotional / social / developmental issues). My life has been all but consumed by this experience, and music is my primary (if often neglected) outlet. No doubt you will see some of the struggles I've had in my lyrics this year. But in the words of Christine Lavin: "Please don't make me too happy / because if you do / my songwriting will turn crappy / for all the bliss you put me through!" Hard times make for good inspiration.
I haven't been playing out for a while, but I am part of a six-woman a capella group in southern New Hampshire called Aksara, that primarily performs at services of remembrance / hospice / or non-profit benefits. They are a really amazing group of women from all walks of life, with beautiful angelic voices. It's been a gift to be able to sing with them. I would really like to write / arrange a song for them this FAWM also.
For this FAWM I'll be splitting my time between the piano and ukulele, but also possibly some guitar (I know all of 3 chords right now, but I'm working on it!). I've been a really lousy collaborator in the past, but I really would like to change that, so drop me a line if you're interested.

Hi, Erin. Thank you for listening to Bound To Be Trouble. Debs did a FABULOUS job singing. She has an absolute beautiful voice and so honored she collaborated with me.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to so much of my music! I've been thinking of you. Can't wait to hear your songs.

Once again, I am blown away by your talent. I just sat and listened to all 14, also reading liner notes and lyrics. I know how hard it is to fit in such intensely creative endevours while also being a wife & mother and all else you do. We are enriched by your songs.

Hey Erin! I have posted a fast-and-dirty one take of Indelible (*3991). Thanks for all your great comments. Now that I'm back to the land of internet and electricity I'm going to do some dedicated listening and you're high on my list! ![]()

Hi Erin! Thank you so much for the glowing reviews of my songs, they really made me feel great.
My process is whatever it is at the moment; sometimes a lyric will come to me first, other times the music happens and I have to deliberate over what to make of it lyrically.... I imagine it's a similar process to many others'. Anyhow, thanks again for the kind words. And take it easy with that root beer. ![]()

Hey, thank you so much for your comment. Lyrics are and always have been my weak point, so for someone to not only recognise when I've put in extra effort but also to say that those lyrics hit home means a Hell of a lot to me. Thank you so much, and I wish you and your daughter all the best.
