Bio

I'm still a high-schooler.
My demos sound... pretty bad, because I'm just using a handheld recorder and one hand on the keyboard to track chords with. The point is to use this to jog my memory for when I have time to actually record it. big_smile Which probably won't be till after February. Oh well.

On another note... all I do are lyrics which can be written in less than 20 minutes sometimes... Songs are a completely different cup of tea... Producing them is much more time consuming... If you are already perplexed, I would recommend to take a close look at the Fawm winners, especially at those who write music (which is, to repeat it, much more difficult than to write just a set of lyrics as probably you know by yourself...)... For example, there is @gordon, I am perplexed myself how this gentleman manages to write 79 SONGS (!) not sets of lyrics, I repeat it SONGS (!) and all on a high quality level... These are the people one should admire...

Hey!! Thanks for the funny comment, I had to smile a lot!!! sounds nearly like an "overdose" of Arthur Rossi ... lol... My 1st goal for this FAWM was to write 100 sets of lyrics and I figured out if I maintain a pace of 2-4 songtexts a day (which is realistic), it should be possible to reach my goal without any difficulties (and if you read some of my lyrics, I kept them quite simple this time on the contrast to last 50/90, and exactly this is one of the reasons for this). Anyway, in the meanwhile, I do not really think I can still reach 100 this time, but hey, it will be a great incentive for next FAWM... So maybe even better so...
Anyway, according to me, much, much, much more important than to write 10 or 50 or even 100 songs is how people interact here... I have never had a negative experience... And if people give you something, and be it only kindness, I would like to give them something in return, and be it just a comment... and besides, I really liked the songs...
    Greetings!

hmm Sound good is bad wording since you already sound good. I meant to say sound a little more professional tongue
  • alexfamous 2 months ago
haha thanks! looking forward to more of your stuff too. If you need help making it sound good let me know. I do all of my own production.. although i've only been learning for liek 4 months now, but I think/hope I'm getting decent haha

Yeah I know when I'm off pitch. It's usually because 1) I sing at late hours and can only do like 1-3 takes. And those 1-3 takes are me actually learning the song, so I get unsure of my notes. 2) My throat's been on the process of recovering for the past 6 months. I developed some small vocal nodes due to screaming and yelling. They're slowly going away but it's been a tug of war since I sing so often and I've been getting sick a lot. 3) I get lazy.

Your microphone is more expensive than mine. I'm guessing your mixer is inputted into your computer? Also..turning the gain down should lower everything. To reduce some of the hiss, lower your higher frequencies knob. You should also play around with your trim knob.
  • alexfamous 2 months ago
what Microphone do you use now?
  • alexfamous 2 months ago
Hmm... Try to turn down the gain.. OR you can practice developing more of a mixed voice. Then, you'd develop that same belty tone while maintaining more volume control. But personally I like belting the hell out of it when i get the chance... haha

So I was on the "songs" tab and i saw a row of lyrics written by the same person. Decided to check one out. They captivated me, so I decided to check out more of this persons stuff. Listened to her voice and I said not bad! You have a smooth and passionate tone about your voice. I haven't heard much of your singing, but I'm guessing you're not much of a belty type of singer, which is definitely not a bad thing. I'd say keep up with the soft melodic type of music and songs. Also, checked your youtube page, good job on the Thousand Years cover, check out mine, too, if you've got some time smile

Well, I listened to a couple of your songs here, wondering what they would sound like fully orchestrated, and then I checked out the music on your tumblr site -- wow. The one that was painful to film, that is an awesome recording. Your voice is also rather awesome.

Hey there again! Thanks for commenting-- I definitely lean towards "simple"!! Hahaha wink I'll be listening to some more of yours this week...
