-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back for my second FAWM, W00T! I released the album I wrote for 2009's FAWM last year. It's available on Amie Street http://amiestreet.com/music/looprication/songs-for-the-darkness-songs-for-the-dawn/ as downloads. I also have actual CDs with amazing artwork. Feel free to contact me if you're interested! No actual instruments were harmed in the recording of this project.

I'd recommend FAWM to anyone aspiring to write more songs, better songs, and especially for my colleagues out there producing electronic music where endless non-destructive editing gives the illusion that nothing's ever truly done.

Born in Detroit, moved to San Diego in 1994. Grew up listening to "alternative" and got heavily into electronic music and scene back in 1999/2000. DJ'd at the infamous Loft in Long Beach in 2001 until it imploded.

Traveled to Amsterdam, Japan, UK, Iceland, Chechy, Vienna, Berlin, Rome, and will happily crash on your couch if you live in a city I haven't experienced yet smile

I've been writing/producing electronic music under the moniker of looprication since 2000.

  • Audita Sum 5 days ago
    Good to know. smile
  • Audita Sum 5 days ago
Sooo, how's that putting together of hill going? I can do it if you want, though your track will get distorted in the process.
  • Audita Sum 1 week ago
Heyyy, I finished it today actually. Here's just the vocals for you to add to your mix. I've already added all the reverb and things needed, I think. http://boxstr.net/files/6396859_uyhpx/_Hillvocals.mp3
  • Audita Sum 1 week ago
I don't really need a wav file. It may be as much as a week or two until I can send it, since I have a bunch of papers to write this weekend and finals to prepare for. But yeah. Looking forward to doing another FAWM song with your work!
  • theconsumption 2 weeks ago
Don't know if you got this on Twitter, but if you're interested in making your own patches, you really should go to www.idmforums.com and live in the Studio/Sound Design area for a while. Also, a book called The Remixer's Bible by Francis Preve gave me some great ideas.
  • friendof 2 weeks ago
Hey, saw your comment on my "I Used to Dream" song... I'd LOVE any help with remixing... as I mentioned, the song and the various tracks overload my cpu and add that to the fact that I don't know what the hell I'm doing, I could use all the help I can get. Anyway, if you ever got bored and wanted to play with it, let me know. smile
  •  Kevin Reid 2 weeks ago
there is none other! Ypsilanti, MI: center of the universe. I just posted a demo of that tune if you're curious.

Cool video. I probably will work with you in the future.

    And congratulations, yourself! smile

Hey thanks for tacking up the work in progress. I'm recovering from a DJ gig last night and nursing a hangover hehe. I'll be on it again tonight and tomorrow.

ooooo... sweetness man! Sounds awesome... thanks for the collab!
  • Dennis Jernberg 2 weeks ago
Re Reason + Record: I'll make sure to save up. Maybe even in time for 50/90. wink
  • Dennis Jernberg 2 weeks ago
Got your lyrics to Flower. I see what you mean when you say they're cheesy. tongue Consider them wordsmithed.

As for ReaNoise... lol Well, I've got to stay within budget if I still want to be able to get instruments... wink
  • carbonxkiwi 2 weeks ago
Thank you for your comment! I'm sorry to hear about your various medical problems - that's rough! I have actually tried to work on demos twice - the first time my laptop died (it has not resurfaced) and the second time the school computer crashed the program! I'm afraid I give up for the moment! Thank you for the comment!

  •  dreamscuba 2 weeks ago
Thanks very much for the comments on my song. smile
  • Dennis Jernberg 2 weeks ago
I'd still like to do those lyrics for Flower. There might be a bit of a project compatibility issue, though, since I use Reaper. (I'll have to save up if I want to get Record, especially since I want Reason along with it...) But if we can get past that, I wouldn't mind having a look at the lyrics too so I can see how I can rework it, as lyrics are one of my strong points.
  • johnrickenbach 2 weeks ago
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate anyone who appreciates a Rickenbacker guitar...can't go wrong with that one...
  • Radical Snake 2 weeks ago
Almost there! Thanks for all the comments man, definitely helps with that final push, (though we might come up a little short this year lol).
I would love to do more songs like Green Stars for Everyone, but m-audio decided that updating their legacy keyboards' drivers to windows 7 isn't an urgent matter. We almost couldn't do any recording at all, but presonus finally came out with theirs early feb. lol

I do have some stuff I started on, but haven't been able to finish. Maybe I can send it your way?
  • Candle 2 weeks ago
Hey! Yeah, I had a typo in the song's URL. Everything is working now. Thanks for dropping by!

Hey Loop! haha yeah no kidding... I'm already wanting to upgrade the video card for the SCII and Diablo III ... smile
I've got a Mode-ish 3/4 time song I'm about to finish.. but could soooo use some synth work!.. let me know if you can squeeze another collab in!
  •  Dan Vaillancourt 3 weeks ago
Wow... Acid coffeehouse... What a great genre name. ha. I tend to bend genre boundaries to keep it fun and interesting... Glad you liked it.
  • sounds excellent to me, though I don't know exactly what that would entail. Just lemme know and I'll see what I can do,
  • jadesongbird 3 weeks ago
Thanks so much for your fine comments! I can't remember what crucio means (other than the Harry Potter version), but you're welcome to it!
  • Audita Sum 3 weeks ago
That sounds magical. I've never gotten to see Antony and the Johnsons in concert.

Yeah, Kate Bush is one of my biggest songwriting influences. I always admired her ability to tell stories in songs. That's a great compliment.
  •  Elaine DiMasi 3 weeks ago
One of the papers I read was from the BBC experimenter-guys, who'd built some boxes to test. The paper said that the boxes before being caulked "didn't do anything", and they nearly gave up on them before sealing them and measuring again, finding a big effect. The air inthe box is acting like a spring: you compress it, and the increased pressure provides the restoring force to pump the lid forward again. This motion then is damped by the air dragging in the fiberglass. If the box doesn't hold a pressure, it's like making the spring way too soft. The lid won't spring back fast enough, and it won't resonate with the bass waves, so it won't absorb any of their energy.

I see that these boxes are calling out to you. That's cool in an insidious kind of way smile I do recommend the links in the gearslutz threads. But if I'd felt they tell the whole story, I guess I wouldn't have put in my two cents!
  • Candle 3 weeks ago
Thanks for the great comment on "Forces"! Yeah, I've seen you around as well & haven't had a chance to listen to any of your stuff either. I hope to rectify that tonight…

    See You In The Shadows…
  •  Bruce H. McCosar 3 weeks ago
Thanks for the comment on "The Last Word is Hope" -- When I think James Bond / spy-rock, I always think Portishead wink Never been in a Bond film, but certain tracks sound like they should have been.
  • Radical Snake 3 weeks ago
Even though we haven't been commenting we are still listening, really digging your album this year, instrumentals are underrated. Also really appreciating your comments.
  •  Elaine DiMasi 3 weeks ago
Hi and thanks for the note! You know, I had my doubts when I was building them, was I completely crazy? But I'm convinced they work. The room seems cleaner, my sweep tone tests are a little better, and best of all, when I have the sound turned up and lay my hand on the panels I can feel them vibrating like a drum along with the bass, in a way that the walls, hollow-core doors, etc, totally don't.
  •  Bruce H. McCosar 3 weeks ago
Greetings, and thanks for the comment on "To Dance in Nameless Places" --

I am learning a lot this FAWM. You mentioned 'lounge' -- now, I've been making music since 2000, but I'm kind of esoteric and off in my own head a lot of the time. Generally when it comes time to assign a label to myself I just have to take a wild guess. The closest I can get to is progressive rock or modern jazz. I'd actually heard the term 'lounge music' before, but it made me think of Larry the Lounge Lizard, so I never followed up on it. I just read a description. Sounds pretty neat, actually, so thank you!

It would have been far better if I hadn't played it with new strings. The 3rd string went flat in the 2nd and 3rd chorus, right on the final melody note. Oh well.
  • Audita Sum 4 weeks ago
I'm glad you liked my interpretation. smile
  •  kristian 4 weeks ago
hi! Glad you're back in action man! of course I'm still up for collab! So what I thought what this :

Wouldn't it be cool to try an Ableton Live collab project? Since we both run Live, we could use something like Google Wave (I can get invites if you don't have any) to share the project file. We could use plugins etc. whatnot; just have to remember to freeze the tracks that use plugins etc. .. we could discuss more over e-mail so I won't drown your Soundboard hehe .. you can e-mail me at kristiab [at] ifi [dot] uio [dot] no
  •  djx 1 month ago
Are you better yet? Dude I can email you some chicken soup...heal up bro!

  • Audita Sum 1 month ago
Yeah, Annie Proulx is pretty much extremely awesome. Thanks for the comment on Harbormaster, BTW. I was worried that part with the autotune in the background might be distracting.

Your comment on http://fawm.org/songs/707/ "It seems to be defined not by borders between things but because of the lack thereof." Sometimes I do not know how to describe my own intentions, but I think you nailed it!!! Thanks!

Dang... With the LA Philharmonic - that sounds amazing. I got his new one on iTunes - but I haven't sat down and listened yet. I want to save it 'til I can give it my undevoted attention. Antony doesn't get the credit he deserves. I'm always happy when I find someone that understands. smile
  •  Chasing Andromeda 1 month ago
Had a great time improvising to "shame" this morning. Nice ambient break there. Listened enough to know I want to hear more.

    Have a great FAWM!

    Haha, nice smile
Yeah my boys talk a lot, and unfortunately Mojo learned a very annoying word : "no!"
Not long ago we've taken him to the vet for vaccination and he was crying "noooooooon" (in French of course) to the poor woman. I was ashamed ^^
Also we bought a DVD to his brother because we had noticed he was watching "In the Night Garden" on TV. When they are pests we play it to them.

Loop-- Thank you, i did receive the masterpiece! then i was virus-y sick all week, and just now feeling up to real typing. I've listened over and over-- it has just a mesmerising flow, and the quality is fabulous, crystal clear and rich. Bravo! Great cover art (not to mention a sweet mention!). It feels like too perfect a progression to have happened naturally, but i don't remember the order well enough to be sure... the way 4:20 in beirut goes into fireflies is magical. this disc needs airplay!
  •  caterwauler 1 month ago
    Thank you smile
You can have all the vocals you want, you know I'll be more than glad if we get an opportunity to collab smile
Yeah, the stuff I've heard from you would definitely make a great sountrack!
