Bio

The Brief Bio:
I love music. And I'm digging FAWM. I think everyone can and should make music and all kinds of things with heart, hands, feet, whatever you got! I hope you're having a good time smile If you like old vinyl records, you can take a look at my hand painted, upcycled art at the website listed above. I'm living simply and making crafts and I'm gonna go build a small farm with my beau. Then I'll be fawming & farming all the day long...

The Novella Bio:
I've loved music in so many ways in my life. It goes to the heart of things for me and I love the way it can find a way into and through everything. I was always running around with a tape recorder when I was little--I was not only in love with music, but with sound itself. I loved listening back to things and seeing how they combined--the unexpected rhythms, discord, and harmony of daily life and whatever I happened to capture. I loved to write story songs and songs that flowed like a river rather than coming back to a hook. I loved dancing around to classical music, piaf, and all kinds of music in our living room until I was pooped. I would get so wrapped up into the emotion sometimes that I would cry with joy.

As they say, when god closes a door, he opens a window. I've had many experiences and discoveries that are remarkable that I may not have had if I hadn't begun to lose my hearing.

My relationship to music has changed in many ways--it's hard to love something as fully when you think you're losing it. There are many things I've found as this has been happening, and I'll probably be exploring some of that in the songs I've posted. Experiencing sound, vibration, and word in different ways--becoming aware of where there are limitations and what transcends...that's what interests me in many ways.

I'm not interested in writing a song like you've heard before or putting polish on it. So you'll probably be hearing the first time I'm singing/playing it basically. If I have time, I'll develop the pieces further and rerecord during FAWM! I'm here to try things out for the sake of exploring--and I love that so many people are taking the opportunity!

I love that people are here fawming! It's on of the best things I can think of to do smile There is simply no substitute for getting your hands dirty and playing! I don't really believe in the whole spectator / audience idea. I believe we're all here to be creative and share and that music and movement is human instinct and fundamental to the process and balance of our minds, bodies, and souls. I am very thankful to artists who have developed their skills but do not forget that and encourage everybody to be creative and sound their voice and their music big_smile

I've sung on Broadway and in all kinds of venues, but the musical experiences I've enjoyed the most perhaps were playing and making up songs with kids, improv and music/sense exploration and playing with friends just hanging out.

Oh yeah...I paint these days. I'm relating painting to how I experience music and sound. It's helped because there are a lot of frequencies that I don't hear much of these days in my daily life (though they conduct easily through the bones smile. Having a lush rainbow is like filling in the blanks of the sound spectrum a bit in my experience smile I'm wearing headphones for Fawm, so I can really hear y'all. I don't usually where headphones anymore, so it's really a lush experience for me.

Fawm on, baby!

I am so touched by just reading your bio.. I can so relate to all you are saying. I am especially happy to learn how well you have adapted and transcended what could have caused others to stop. The name you use goes straight to my heart because I see myself living inside the music and you're the first one who I have seen who feels the same way. Thank you for visiting my page and leaving me an up lifting message.

Hey that was a very detailed comment on Sun Sure Did Set... It makes me want to beef up the original vocal performance a bit. Joe and I talked about doing some harmonies. Its the first song I'v written like that so I am pretty excited about it.

Hey, Danielle. I so appreciated the comments you left me about my songs..especially about Ocean's Storm, since I put so much into it by notating it first in Sibelius (a notation computer program) as I experimented with a whole orchestra. Your comments encouraged me all day. I am so sorry you are losing your hearing, but am glad you are making the most of it. And I feel honored that a Broadway star likes my stuff! Love ya.

Hi! Would love to collab, but you're right - time's running out. I see two lyrics of yours ("Blue Giraffe" and "Will You Sing") I'd love to put to music - maybe in March as a "demo updated" sort of thing. And there's always 50/90 starting in July!
Tomorrow I'm running an open mic for the school where I'd teach - otherwise I'd do a quick last-day collab.

Great job on the song! I couldn't have imagined a better version myself. I think I will just leave the original up there for now. Perhaps someone will need it in the next day for a little inspiration.

Well spoken. I'm probably not the first to mention that Mozart couldn't hear, and we all know what he produced. Looking forward to listening to your experimental creations.

Thanks for your comment on New Grooves! Much appreciated.
  • alexphott 3 months ago
Thanks for listening, I always like getting constructive feedback. The reason the track has a very set beat is because it's probably going to be used in a teaser/trailer and the guy who would work on it needs something that's easy to work with in terms of cutting the video to fit with the beat.
