Artist Bio

I'm brand new to the FAWM scene, heard of it through my bro and it sounded like a good way to push myself to be a little more proactive with music writing during the winter!
I took piano as a youth and figured out some other instruments by just jamming and playing by ear. I used to play bass in a rock n roll band but now I just write and record on my own.

They don't have an Instagram option below, but that's my main social media outlet that I use - so feel free to find me on Insta: ohleahleah

Hey Leah! Your comment on my track made my day, thank you, I'm still quite an anxious vocalist, but I agree it does need to come up a bit - I'm in the midst of doing a mini remix of each of the tracks and will get round to releasing them as a free download - i'll be sure to raise the vocals and send it your way when I'm done!

  • @kathym  Mar 6

πŸ˜€ on the Caterpillar song. I figured if I was going to do a round, I'd do something that has a cycle in it that opens with the beginning and closes with the final stage, so this fit the bill. When I saw the challenge to do bugs, it was pretty easy to choose something. I think the trick is balancing shorter words and longer words so they don't step on each other so much. Thank you for the comments!

Thanks for the great comment, I stopped by and cherry picked a few songs and loved every one - will need to Watchlist you so I remember to come back for more!

Thank you very much for your comment on "Mandy Lane". Congratulations on completing your first FAWM!

  • @zecoop  Feb 28

Hey, that song is finished right?!??!? LOL (just kidding!!!)
In FAWM, you post what you feel is a song and that is the only rule (besides the fact that they are written [mostly] in February). I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of your songs! I enjoyed the first three I heard! πŸ˜€

  • @johnq  Feb 26

Thank you for your comments, they are much appreciated!

  • @dawnsoap  Feb 23

Thank you so much for the comment on my YMCA parody πŸ˜€ I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell what it was from without being told πŸ˜€ now I know the answer!

  • @squeakmouse73 Feb 23

Thank you muchly for your encouragement. Love your whispery voice.

  • @candle Feb 22

Thanks for listening & commenting on my version of The Road Is So Long, Lord. I'm not a gospel singer & perhaps the subject matter doesn't fit perfectly with the sound, as can be detected by the performance. But it was fun to play around with Daniel's words. He's one of my favourite FAWM lyricists. Again, thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    See You In The Shadows…

I like doing the layered parts as in "Quaint" but yeah, it takes discipline and timing and an ear for harmony! Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words. Cheers!

  • @leah0k Feb 2017

@ustaknow thanks for the compliments and ideas! I really should add some bass... gotta dig out my guitar!

  • @leah0k Feb 2017

@rj1 thanks! If my kids ever go to sleep tonight I should have another one to add πŸ˜€ haha

  • @leah0k Feb 2017

@johnstaples thanks for that tidbit! It's fun to do that kind of stuff as a family - hopefully someday my grandkids will enjoy it and I'll get a 4-generation Sculpey night going haha! Glad your kids are still having fun with it too!

  • @ustaknow Feb 2017

Hey, happy new year, first FAWM! πŸ˜€

Listened to your 2 other orig. from 3 yrs ago; nice! πŸ˜€ You've got the smooth, melodic down... and obviously, from the covers, have range.

Do something, raw, base, chunky, syncopated between the vocal range modulations, against/contrasting a melodic rhythm. Since played Bass, slap out a funk rhythm one could not possibly sing to, then do πŸ˜‰ why not? It's FAWM ... or, as you like! πŸ˜€

  • @rebeccajasso Feb 2017

thanks for your kind words on "Despite Your Best Intentions."
    =]

  • @rj1  Feb 2017

Welcome to FAWM! Hope to hear more of your songs!

  • @johnstaples  Feb 2017

I clicked on your website link and just read your post about Sculpey clay and had to share this! When my kids were young we discovered this clay from a book that came with samples. Making "clay guys" became a regular activity at our house. Whenever our kids wanted an accessory or even a new critter they would make it and bake it themselves! My kids are now in their 20s and they still love Sculpey!

  • @leah0k Feb 2017

Thanks for taking the time to let me know - I think I fixed it! @francessmith πŸ™‚
