Bio

I've been playing guitar, writing songs, and recording since I was sixteen. Between FAWM and 50/90 this has sort of gone a bit critical.

I'm also in a band called The Blues Convicts, that's coming along quite nicely. Here's House Of the Rising Sun, as recorded at a recent gig:

We've got another gig right in the middle of FAWM, on the 3rd of February at the Empire Hotel in Annandale. So if any of you happen to be in Sydney, you're welcome to come along. I'll be the guy in the fedora. smile

I've decided to do a proper themed album this year. Here's the cover art I made:

*******

As of the 10th of March 2012, I've got my FAWM album available on bandcamp: http://kimotcj.bandcamp.com/album/monument

I thought the recordings were good enough to make it a permanent thing.

Yow! -- thanks much for all the comments! While I've got a ways yet to go, I think I'm making progress, and very much appreciate all the help and encouragement. And you're right; stand up straight and belt it out. Just have to figure out how to get everyone out of the house, so I don't feel like a dork!

hey Kim, i am totally unfamiliar with many Aussie bands of the 80s, but i have heard maybe one or two songs by many, many of those bands. Your stuff does often remind me of a lot of that stuff that i have heard but me trying to remember band names would be futile. I will put more listening time in to Hunters and Collectors and Hoodoo Gurus at some point. I'm a lot more familiar with Radio Birdman and Kuepper era Saints though, and the Oils, but Australia has tons of great music that the rest of the world doesn't really know about... and you're another example of that! big_smile

Mm, pointy guitars aren't my thing either, but I have a mate who is very much into Vai/Satch style instrumental guitar stuff and he's got a really nice bright yellow Ibanez. He encouraged me to get this one, but as you say, it is pretty, it doesn't look out of place as an electric or as an acoustic.

Howdy Kim! I ended up getting the Ibanez Montage hybrid you recommended to me on a thread here some time a while ago, and I'm loving it. It's not a bad electric (the tone is much nicer than my cheapo Strat) and the acoustic is definitely a great additional weapon in my arsenal. Can't wait to hear your stuff this February!
