Influences: Harry Chapin, John Denver, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, many contemporary folk/acoustic singer/songwriters. There are plenty, I guess. I get inspired by a lot of my friends, too - some of whom you'll find FAWMing. The more we get together and talk about songwriting, the more inspired I get.
FAWMUS RESUMUS ... just in time during the final week so I can cross the finish line (I hope!).
FAWMUS INTERRUPTUS ... Feb 12th ... I'm still in the fawm but have to take a little time to care for a family member.
I should update this information for fawm 2018, but some of the basics are still the same, so I'll leave those here for now.
Between a full time/overtime day job and being in the sandwich generation always bouncing between houses, I don't have as much time to write as I used to, but fawm always helps me get a few new things written.
I've written ballads, story songs, blues, rap, reggae, a capella, sweet, sassy and silly. I've co-written with maybe ten or so people, usually with decent results.
I've performed at coffee houses, house concerts, open mic events and a few shows sharing the stage with friends and as part of the trio Three of Hearts, mostly in the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut area. I've provided vocal support to a few friends on their CD's and after years of encouragement, am in the process of working on my own CD.
My strongest skill is probably lyric writing, followed by singing (or maybe swap those two) and in third place, playing acoustic guitar. I have a djembe that I noodle around with as well as an Eede Beede mini dulcimer that I take out on rare occasions.
Thanks in advance for your feedback and support.
P.S. Don't forget to make a donation to the cause here. There isn't anywhere that you can have this much fun, interact with songwriters from all over the world, get tips on everything from which mic to use to what to cook for dinner. Have fun!!!

Oh -- and Crazy in Alabama is by Kate Campbell (another one of those talented Kates in songwriting).
Hi Kathy -- yes, Crazy in Alabama is a masterpiece song. (Part of the reason she does such a good job with that -- and that I struggled with mine -- is she was able to be within her story.) Thanks for your comment, and congrats on your win!
Congratulations Centurion Soldier! You wrote 100 comments for your fellow FAWMers!! You made this place even better. You took your time to listen to other people's songs and you have 100 thank you's from all of them and from me! Here’s your badge. Excellent work and keep busting’ those zongs!!
Thanks for the nice comment on my "Sidelines" song.
Thanks, for the kind words on my "Holding Together" skirmish song.
Between you and me, I don't know what a lot of my songs mean, either. I just let the gibberish flow.
Thanks for all the feedback!
Thanks for the nice comment on my skirmish song, "Dopey Hacienda."
*purrrrrrrrrrmrrrrprrrrrrr* Meow meeh mew! 🐾🐾
[Greetings to Buddrick!]
Fair warning: Chapter 3 is a little loud. There's a reason for that, which you'll discover if you listen in sequence!
Great minds think alike and maybe we were both missing each other....
GUILTY GIRL...I am a ONCE fanatic...maybe that helps, but I say, misery loves company, why should they be so happy, let them suffer like the rest of us LOL!!!!
Thanks for stopping by and listening to I Like My Men lol Fun song to put together, for sure.
My secret for these skirmishes (and heck, all of FAWM) is that I have templates premade in my DAW - so, lots of settings and eqs and plugins are already saved when I start a new song, so, things come out sounding like I spent a lot a lot of time on it.
Thank you for your comment on my 12 string skirmish song... and I totally agree with you on the required sensitivity about the use/context of the word “noose”. It didn’t feel 100% acceptable when I sang it, and it continues to drift away from my intent... thank you for voicing that!
Thanks a lot for your comment, and you are right, I just put NSFW...
Happy 10th Fawmiversary! (= Congrats!
Hey SuperSkirmish (Feb 2/3) host! I just posted my skirmish notice so if you want to use it feel free to,
1) copy/paste its title into your new post and change all pertinent info in the title
2) copy/paste its body into your new post and change all pertinent info in the body
Thanks Kathy. We did indeed submit an entry. Happy FAWMing. Only a day away(ish)!
Hi, Kathy. You mentioned you might be interested in a physical CD when it was ready. Don't feel obligated but it's on bandcamp as a $10.00 purchase plus shipping.
But if you're seriously considering purchasing the disc you can head over to kunaki at the following link and get it a bit cheaper. It's where I order my physical discs and I've never had an issue with them.
I know! I'm excited for this year because I finally have an instrument I can use 😁
Hi Kathy, thanks for the compliment on Superheroine last FAWM! I really appreciate it 😀 Welcome back
I giggled and was delighted with your warm welcome on my thread!
“Fawmily” is absolutely a term I can get behind! Clever and awesome 👍🏻
Heya, Kathy! Great to see you here.
Thanks for the note, and welcome back to us both!
Hi, Kathy! I hope it's a great FAWM for you and your inspiration gets struck like a gong!
Hiya Kathy! Happy FAWM 2018!!
Hi Kathy, looking forward to hearing your music!
