Artist Bio

Influences:   Far too many but a few are....Beatles, Brian Wilson, mozart, Debussey, Stone Roses, Carpenters, Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, New Order, Shack, The Las, Status Quo, Burt Bacharach, The Kinks, Super Furry Animals and more melodic beautifilicious people!!

Ok a pure half hour with wifi not going down. Woohoo!( HAve a feeling this may be an ongoing fawm theme for me)

So this i my FOURTH FAWM! Blimey where did that time go to??
As a few of you already know I am not at home with my lovely studio complete with logic, old guitar, tambourine and masking taped mic. This year I am travelling Asia and FEb will seem moving from India to Sri Lanka and finally Thailand.
So lo-fi is the game and gecko squealing will probably be my percussion. I have one awful indian acoustic guitar, My iphone and audacity free for this years creations so don't expect any of my build up anthems (or if there is do expect to here multiple broken strings!!) .
India has already taught me a great deal and the most important thing is to go with the flow which is exactly what i Intend to do.

PS Feel free to check out a portion of my new project "The Karlos Kollective" output. We have put out one EP on all formats and two bandcamp albums. All inspired from last year's FAWM I must say so thank you all for your support.

PPS Am seriously looking to collaborate again and hopefully there is someone out there who will fancy making a full band job of one of my acoustic numbers. I am up for anything.

PPPS i have written and recorded over 50 original songs since FAWM last year, so here's hoping the tap is still firmly on!!!

So nearly bought a harmonium the other day but instead settled for a $5 djembe drum so there is my rhythm, to go with FRANNICK my hideous and yet blue, acoustic guitar, in honour of the mighty quo)

Here is wishing everybody and fantastically creative and heart warming FAWM xxx

πŸ˜€ on the Caterpillar Round. My recordings are usually pretty poor due to the setup where I've been staying at my dad's. I'm lucky if I get to record something, so I doubly appreciate your time and your comments. I took the cheap way out to get one on the board, but it was fun to do, anyway. I have to admit, though, if I go off key a few times, once I was recording against the multiple tracks, it was a little tricky to try to stay focused. πŸ˜€

  • @jonmeta  Mar 4

Not too late for "Humans". I'm loading audio and doing a first mix now, but final mix tomorrow. I'm still expecting several files from other people tonight. Thanks!

  • @susancantey  Mar 3

Search @jonmeta (Jon Nelson) and listen to song #1 Humans...if you have the time today or tomorrow, he wants more voices. Spread the word! (I already sent him mine).

  • @musicsongwriter Mar 3

Thank you so much for your beautiful comments on my music, lyrics and collaborations Karl. Your support is very special. Looking forward to collaborating with you.
    Nadia

  • @wacha Mar 3

Thank you so much for your comment on "Mandy Lane", really glad this one is connecting with people. I have written a bunch of feel and meaningful songs this year but by far my favorite has been this one. Nice to see so many other people appreciate it was well!

  • @cynthiawolff  Mar 3

Thank you so much for your listens..
It would be beyond wondeful to do something with you Anytime!
I would rather listen to your vocals, but a very nice compliment

    Xxc

  • @acousticmaddie  Mar 3

Thank you that was such a wonderful compliment <3

  • @kristi  Mar 3

Hey, thanks so much for your lovely comments on my collab with Pam G., A Simple Gift!

  • @haim  Mar 2

Thank you for you awesome feedback on my last song. I'll make sure I'm tuning to your station on the next few days too to check because I had no time this fawm to check out things so much... Just as you wrote, I gave a big major push the last week.... see you around soon hopefully. happy march.

  • @jamesstaubes  Mar 1

Karlos, thanks for you comments on "At The Reunion." Yep, Logic Drummer. I love using tools that make it fast and easy to get going with a groove. Even though it's "automated" there is still a lot of control over the nuances in the drums, from ghost notes, to push/pull, and complexity. Thanks again and I will listen to some of your tunes soon!

  • @russiasaturn  Mar 1

Hey you are always welcome to hop on the ginger train! haha. Just be warned: we don't have souls. 😝 thanks for kind comments!

  • @lanasolyluna Feb 28

The most Western place I lived in years is Colombia πŸ˜‚ That's why my brain is weird. I don't know what's normal anymore *enter interesting music stage left*

  • @boyatheart  Feb 28

Well you got your FAWM cup. That's something!
You still in Thailand? And where are you off to after?

  • @boyatheart  Feb 28

Hey Karl. Congrats on a sterling FAWM performance.
You're now officially a prolific nomadic FAWMer! πŸ˜€

  • @lanasolyluna Feb 28

Hey! Thanks so much and congrats on finishing FAWM. Tomo and I went to Cambodia before we left for Tanzania and it is a very magical place, with happy happy pizza...ha ha ha πŸ˜€ We ended up with a balcony with a view over one of the only Buddhist temples in Siem Reap. Felt like karma watching out for us.

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 26

Thank you so much Karl for your amazing comment on my collaboration with Kristi and Dawn on Roses in my Dreams. Regarding collaborations, you know I'll be absolutely delighted to collaborate with you. Please send me any ideas you have, I'm looking forward to collaborating. If you are happy to sing I could send some songs too. Please let me know what you'd be happy with. Thank you Karl.

You say such kind things, thank you! I am a bit behind, with 8 to do and only a few days left, but I am trying to get caught up on sound boards and getting some commenting done, and I have some time off! Anyway, thank you for your supportive remarks! I will keep plugging on!

  • @adforperu  Feb 23

  • @adforperu  Feb 23

  • @dee Feb 23

HI Thanks for leaving a comment on This is the Way I Live. Feel free to have a stab at it if you have the time. No worries if not. Regards Dee

  • @lanasolyluna Feb 23

Hey man! Thanks so much. You're super talented yourself. Looking forward to having a listen to your gecko-squealing percussion. I've been Internet-less for awhile and have lots of catch-up to do. πŸ˜€

  • @phlecksy  Feb 22

Thanks for the nice comment on 'Too much milk'. I just wrote some (sincere) praise of your latest 'Stuck at the airport' but accidentally closed the page before I clicked send. In a nutshell: I thought it was really good πŸ˜€

  • @the3queens Feb 22

I would LOVE TO come to Thailand to perform!

  • @kovbleu  Feb 22

Thanks so much, Karl! I am a little behind in listening myself, but I will most definitely be back to check out the rest of your songs!! Glad you got to hear "Faceless Games." Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate it!

  • @judypie Feb 22

Haha thanks son much Karl! I'll be sure that Ad hears about this! 😝 Hope the East is treating you well! πŸ˜€

  • @kathym  Feb 20

<3 for the comments on Blinded by the Moon. I appreciate your time and your thoughts. I love to see everyone's interpretations, too.

  • @russiasaturn  Feb 20

Thanks so much for those kind words on Paper Lanterns! Really appreciate it. πŸ˜€

  • @oaksnprairie  Feb 20

Not sure of the protocol: I'd like to do music for @arthurrossi's Space Travel, but I see you've already said you might take it on. I won't go forward unless it's ok with you.

  • @pamgrisham  Feb 20

Thank you for listening to my song Klaus. Your comments make me very happy. πŸ˜€

  • @degausser  Feb 20

Jesus H christ. You have so many songs.... And i've only listened to one. Catch up time I think!

  • @jamkar  Feb 20

Thanks for the comments Karl, I am a fan of Dee's lyrics too!

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 20

Thank you so much for your amazing support Karl. Sadly I'm in early stages with fl studio so I don't think I'll be able to create the full orchestration.

  • @ajna1960  Feb 20

lol @ Brian Wilson - I can empathise, it will be wonderful.
When you get back lets do some tracks together πŸ˜€ see what happens ?

  • @boyatheart  Feb 20

Hey thanks for having alisten to "Walkin in Downtown Rain"
How long are you in Thailand. Let me know if you do come to Phuket.
I'm pretty stretched for time and I'm totally broke, but if you make it here I'm sure we could make something work.

  • @ajna1960  Feb 20

Heya Karl πŸ˜€ Thank you so much for the sweet comments on 'Let It Be Me' πŸ˜€ You are very generous πŸ˜€
When are you back home ?

  • @zecoop  Feb 20

Hey I would love to hear what you come up with! Definitely see what happens with the jangle πŸ˜€

  • @shortdan  Feb 20

Ah, thank you for the comments on my last one buddy! Hope all's good with you? I'm SOOO far behind with everything (particularly with listening) but I'm determined to catch up as best I can. Somehow!

  • @thebschip Feb 18

Thank you for listening! I am not opposed to collaborations, but I don't really have a way to record much other than my surface which provides some noisy backgrounds... that usually kills the vibe for others, heh. I look forward to hearing more of your tunes! Congrats on not falling behind!

  • @audrey  Feb 17

Thank you for your great comment on my Christmas song piano part. If you need a soprano or alto voice for that 4-part harmony song you want to do, if you get to it. I'll gladly help.

  • @gregthehero Feb 16

Best of luck for your Thailand adventure, where you planning on visiting?

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 15

Thank you Karl for your warm comment on my lyric. Yes, people sometimes take it personally if I don't drink. I just don't enjoy it. It doesn't inspire me or helps me feel happy. Music does. Drink doesn't. But I don't want to bore you. Thank you again.
    Nadia

  • @miltz  Feb 14

Thanks for the encouragement on River Like a Scream.

    Your fellow one-earer,
    Dan

  • @leepat  Feb 14

Hi Karlos, I didn't mean your vocals were shaky, I was talking about the chords (I was wishing they would change more). Anyway, I'm not travelling and still record my vocals on a phone, so don't worry, you're doing great πŸ˜€

  • @frenchcricket Feb 14

Thanks mate - which part is part 2? The only fake bass is the one embedded in the Main Attraction sample (the bit that sounds like The Avalanches), but I did overdub the higher bass part

  • @zecoop  Feb 13

Stones in a cup? Man... the percussion was amazing in that song, so there you go! (goes outside to collect stones). The "Indian Guitar" sounded amazing with however many you put on there. Loved it

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 13

    Thank you Karl, sounds awesome.
    Nadia

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 13

Hi Karl, thank you for your warm support. Hope we collaborate again when you have a chance. Have a great February.
    Nadia

  • @rayboneor  Feb 12

My wife was just looking at her diary and said that two years ago today we arrived in Cambodia. We had solid wifi in our AirBnb, but Thailand is definitely is definitely a much more economically robust place. Happy travels

  • @yam655  Feb 12

Congratulations on hitting Century Club! πŸ˜€

  • @theresaj Feb 11

Hey Karlos, you had expressed interest in putting music to "And She Dreams". No problem if you don't get to it but raygungirls did a version which I love but feel free to still do your own too. I don't mind having different versions!

  • @cts  Feb 11

Cool, man...but how in the world did you end up on the other side of the pond?

  • @kristi  Feb 8

Thanks so much Karlos for your comments on "...Not that Story"!

  • @celaphane  Feb 7

Oh my, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm looking forward to posting soon. πŸ˜€

  • @boyatheart  Feb 6

Thanks for the comment Karl. Much appreciated. I will get through all your tunes eventually. What I've heard so far is very good indeed.

  • @kovbleu  Feb 6

You're so kind! Thanks for listening to more of my songs. Yes, I consider myself super lucky to be in a band with such amazing people. πŸ˜€

  • @pcob1993  Feb 6

Rock on babe down that Dharma road, lovely to see your name again ..... I'll be all ears... ciao
    Pearse

  • @majordanby  Feb 6

This is KARL, your music is the kind of stuff i track down and buy. Brilliant.

I myself am musically limited, especially vocally so Dan translates for me.

  • @majordanby  Feb 6

Thanks for you listens and comments. Keep us all posted with your travels & great songs, I'll check them all out.

  • @madthesinger  Feb 6

Hey Karlos! I'm not sure if there is a magical setup for iphone recordings. I usually put my phone closer to my mouth for vocals because it picks up guitar louder. I record right in garage band too, I'm not sure if that makes a difference. πŸ˜€ Thank you so much for all of your comments and support. I'm about to listen to your stuff right now!

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 5

Hi Karlos, thank you for your beautiful comment. I'll be delighted to collaborate with you. Please let me know if you would like me to add you.
    Have a great time!
    Nadia

  • @zecoop  Feb 5

    Haha... Mad, mad, mad skilz......

  • @zecoop  Feb 5

I left clicks in the empty spots just to make it easy for timing. Feel free to record anything you'd like. Are you able to record them separately to so I can add your parts here?

  • @zecoop  Feb 4

I've got a potential song for you... I'll upload and let me know where to send the link. πŸ˜€

  • @russiasaturn  Feb 4

Awesome, just get in touch whenever! Demos can always be redone later and it's not like your iphone sounds bad, man I never would have guessed! πŸ˜€

  • @theresaj Feb 4

Thank you for your sweet comment on And She Dreams. You are welcome to add music if you find time!

  • @timfatchen  Feb 4

Hey Karlos: in "Fading Summers" the guitar is a Squier stratocaster (a good one) with the pickups set for the bridge, the tone turned up to sharp, then fed through a lot of reverb and some compression on the DAW. It means (unfortunately) I only hear the pur guitar tone playign it in; have to listen to see how the reverb worked. Hope this helps! Thanks for the comment too!

  • @ajna1960  Feb 4

Heya Karlos πŸ˜€ Thank you for commenting on Middle Of Something Too Good ! Very kind πŸ˜€ And yes, I'd love to hand the lyrics over to you - my immense pleasure πŸ˜€
I will add you as collab now πŸ˜€

  • @susyblue  Feb 4

We were commenting on each other's songs I think roughly the same time! My folks and sister just went to Sri Lanka, looks beautiful and tropical - dare I say a shit load nicer than India! Yay Osho in Rishikesh! I was reading his book there too πŸ˜€ He's fkn kooky, am loving this one on creativity, check it out if you can

  • @russiasaturn  Feb 4

Aw thanks (again)! Well why don't we collaborate on something? πŸ˜‰

  • @russiasaturn  Feb 4

Thank you so much for your kind words on Edward Estlin! Hope you enjoy the rest haha. I feel honored that you were looking forward to my stuff! ☺

  • @kristi  Feb 4

Thanks for your kind comments on my collab with aprilm. She did bring out that reflective element, true, and created a lovely song!

  • @arthurrossi Feb 3

Hey! I would like to thank you very much for your that generous words on "Blue waters"...

  • @clioem  Feb 3

Same here! FINALLY have a track up! πŸ˜€

  • @radicalmguy  Feb 3

Thanks a ton for the comment, I really appreciate it! Cheers

  • @petemurphy  Feb 3

Thank you for the great comments, Karl.
Where I use the handheld recorder depends on where my wife is at the time. If she's in the lounge watching tv, I'll take it into the bedroom and just put it on the bed. If she's elsewhere, I sit on the sofa in the lounge and put it in front of my computer keyboard.

  • @mikegtz  Feb 3

Thanks for dropping by, Karlos. I will be returning the favor.

  • @aprilm Feb 3

Thank so much for your comments on What We Love. It was an honour to put music to @kristi's beautiful lyrics

  • @musicsongwriter Feb 2

Thank you so much Karl for your beautiful comment on my lyric. So wonderful to see your songs appearing. What a treat!
    Nadia

  • @kovbleu  Feb 2

Awww, thanks! No worries, they will be there waiting for you! I do hope you find reliable wifi though, because I know how frustrating that can be!!

  • @oddbod  Feb 2

a very hello to you too

  • @petemurphy  Feb 2

    Hiya Karl!
I'm down with some kind of sickness at the moment, but gonna try to jump on in a bit and do some more listening, and check your song out.
    Hope all is going well.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 2

Of course I would really love to have a collaboration with you! I'd be honored to have my lyrics paired with your music!

  • @ajna1960  Feb 1

And YES PLEASE to collaborating again - I'll think up something suitable !

  • @ajna1960  Feb 1

Hey Karlos πŸ˜€ Thank you for the flattery concerning Manic Game of Love ! Much appreciated πŸ˜€

  • @heidiserwer  Feb 1

G'day Karl! Great to see you back, and looking forward to some lo-fi gecko-strewn masterpieces.

  • @billysea  Feb 1

Howdy Karlos. Here is to a great FAWM πŸ˜€

  • @madthesinger  Feb 1

Hey there! Glad to see you back as well! I'm not sure if I'll finish this year, but I'm excited to put out some more music. I look forward to hearing your tunes!
